Kimberton Inn
Kimberton Inn is an owner operated restaurant in a beautiful 200+ year old building. We strive to provide excellent food with influences for all over the world. We have cozy bar with live jazz on Fridays and Saturdays, an excellent wine list and interesting unique cocktail and beer list. The building has 5 wood burning fireplaces operating all winter long. We also have private spaces for parties for 10-130 guests.

"I went to the Kimberton Inn for the first time at lunch time on Mother's Day with my elderly grandmother, mother, husband and two small children. The experience was wonderful. All the staff was so helpful in helping to get my grandmother around and with the kids. The food was very good and they even let my picky eater husband order off the children's menu. The service was incredible and the restaurant had real charm and great ambience. I am so grateful to all the staff who helped make my Mother's Day so memorable. Looking forward to going back for Sunday brunch."

"We have gone to the Kimberton Inn on Special Occasions and have not been disappointed. Whether on a crowded holiday or a quiet night, you get top notch service. In recent visits, we have taken my toddler son and the staff has always been gracious and accommodating to him as well, which I greatly appreciate. The food is always delicious, everything is top quality. I would recommend the Kimberton Inn any day."

"Service was terrific. Entertainment was awesome (Larry McKenna). The food ... disappointing. The crab cake was large along with the price tag ($28.00). It contained too much filler. I've had slightly smaller versions elsewhere with greater content. My wife had the Salmon salad and loved it. As I say, uneven.
Lastly, they told me you can hear the music where ever you are seated. Poetic license with that one as we were in the room next door to the music and it was barely audible over the din of other diner's conversation. That's a shame when you have a Jazz giant such as Mr. McKenna in the house. With all the fabulous places to eat in the Chester County area why settle? It will be awhile if & when we return."

"Huge fan of the Kimberton Inn. AND as always, it lived up to our very high expectations. It always delivers great food combined with excellent service in a charming setting. Never has it dissappointed in all the meals that we have eaten there. We go there for special occassions and then somethings for what the heck !! Highly recommend it to anyone who loves to dine out - wonderful old Inn which still maintains the ambience of days gone by. Plenty of choices on the menu - all of which are very good indeed."

"I was given a gift certificate for my birthday. I went with my fiance for dinner and the whole experience exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious and timely even with a wedding going on and a full restaurant. The service was perfection, not hovering but there whenever you needed something. "Excellent food and specialty drinks and service. The Inn is 200+ years old and is not that handicap friendly as far as getting into and out of the restaurant. Learned that there is a backdoor which is available and avoids the several steps going in the front door. Just call ahead and let then know you want to use the backdoor."

"4 diners and two of us ordered the twin lobster tails - Very, very tiny amounts of lobster over angelhair pasta. Bland flavor - definitely not worth the high price of $36.00. The coconut shrimp ($8.50) was tasty but there were only 2 shrimp on the plate! The steak one of the diners had was just "so so", not worth the $32 price tag. We did love the atmosphere, and the wait staff was fine. Glad we were seated on the 2nd floor, as 1st floor and bar area were noisy. We will probably not be back, only because for the price tag, we have other favorites that do a better job on the quality of the meal!"

"We love the Kimberton Inn. We generally choose it for anniversaries etc. It is a 40 minute ride from our home, but we feel it is worth the effort. The basic menu is always to our taste plus they always offer additions to the menu which are always interesting and delicious. We were runnung slightly late for our reservation & called to inform them. They were very gracious and understanding, holding our great table on a busy night. Once again we were very satisfied with the food choices and our service was excellent considering that we were on an upper level * our server had to use the stairs all evening.Overall we were very pleased as usual and will surely return."

"We love the atmosphere at the Kimberton Inn. The food was good but we would come back again for the atmosphere rather than the food. The filet tail was not as tender as I would have hoped. Two of the guests at the table ordered filet and the server never came back to check on our food and ask how everything was. I would have thought will filet orders she would have wanted to check to make sure the temperature was right. The manager went over the top to provide us with good service and information."

"We went recently for a wedding anniversary dinner. The food and service were great. The environment was nice, an older place with some character. The restaurant was surprisingly empty, probably less than 50% full on a Friday evening. I probably would have had a difference opinion if it was more crowded and lively. I'm not sure why it was empty, because overall the experience was nice. If it was closer to us, we would go again, but we're about 1 hour away."

"I was misled by the restaurant's web site that they served Sunday brunch, which I take to mean a wide variety of foods one gets for oneself. That is our Easter tradition. This was a served meal from the menu. There were no particular Easter specials. The food was delicious, creative, ample, and moderately expensive. The lamb was served with a delightful mint pesto. The crab stuffed flounder was very good with real lump crab. The decor is well matched colonial tavern. The staff was attentive but not overbearing. This is a good place for a special occasion."

"Food was good to very good. Unique coconut shrimp with a kickass sauce. Nice scallops appy. Twin lobster tails were good but not plentiful. The lamb chops were good, very large but fatty. When letting them know that we were celebrating my wife's b'day I didn't expect any grand acknowledgement so when there not so much as a well wish, no disappointment. Perhaps I get too hung up on the little things & maybe our server had too many tables. My glass of wine that was to accompany dinner arrived as I finished the last bites of my entree so was sent back to the bar. When offered a refill of coffee no mention to my wife for more tea hot water. Retrieved our own coats. Our upstairs seating was nice & romantic. Busboy made us feel less neglected."

"The menu has changed considerably. Have been twice in the last +/-6 months. this time was better than last. had an easy time getting reservation on a weekend. The bar was busy, but it is small. nice live music did not overtake the scene. Cant figure out why the place has not been as busy lately."

"It was fabulous as always, just the right portions and selection of well prepared food. I have been going there since I was a child and it is now my husband's favorite restaurant as well. We have shared so many memorable moments there and will continue to do so. "Probably The Best Salad You'll Ever Have" was amazing as always and the Tenderloin was truly tender and prepared to perfection. Truly my favorite place to eat & a neighborhood gem! I highly recommend it and enjoy the scenic view and history of Kimberton."

"What a great surprise! The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. Honestly a friend had commented "You'll be the youngest people in the restaurant by 30 years (which was not the case!) So I thought the food might be out-dated, traditional, bland dishes. My wife and I both remarked that our appetizer, entree and desserts were ALL really good! The building has phenomenal history and great colonial architecture. We sat right near a blazing fire on a cold night. I looked in the bar and every seat was packed including those at the lounge tables. We'll definately go back."

Much less ambiance upstairs than in the downstairs areas. We will keep this in mind on our next visit and remember to specify first floor seating."

"This is a beautiful Inn and the service was impeccable. We had a table upstairs where it was easy to have a conversation, but not so quiet that your conversation would be overheard at the next table. The food wasn't very notable for the reputation of this being a special evening out. In particular, the sun-dried tomato risotto seemed more like risotto pasta with pasta sauce tossed over it, and the twin lobster entree ($40) were two lobster tails that were incredibly small and smothered in a tan sauce sitting on top a soggy pastry. Being someone that has traveled to Maine for lobster, I was more than happy to pay $40 for good lobster, this was so disappointing. I'm sorry, we won't be returning."

"This was our first time at Kimberton in several years. We have loved it in the past and have held private events there as well. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time for brunch. Wait staff did not explain how the brunch worked and service was extremely slow. I can't say anything really negative about the food, but I can't rave about it either. It was just ok. Based on past experience, I expected alot more."
