Flames Steakhouse founded in 1992 by Nick Vuli as the premier American Steakhouse in New York 's Westchester County , has been lauded by local and national critics as the benchmark for American Cuisine. John Mariani of Wine Spectator wrote, “Easily the best, beefiest, most richly flavored sirloin I've had this past year was at Flames Steakhouse.” This graceful, timeless, classic American Restaurant defines the steakhouse genre, with its adherence to only purchasing the finest products available at the daily markets. Hand selected prime beef, veal and lamb, hard shelled lobsters from 2 – 10 pounds, colossal lump crabmeat and fish are delivered daily to the restaurant.
"This was our second time going to this restaurant within a month. We love the food, it's a bit pricey but well worth it. The staff and owner are also very pleasant."

"Good meal. Steaks were cooked as ordered and were great. Wasn't the best steak I've ever had, but I'm happy to have this place close by. Definitely going back..."

"Resident for over 20 years, and work in NYC where I have been to just about every great and VG restaurant (including the best steak houses). I have given Flames a few chances to show me what they can deliver for the high prices they charge (remember, their costs do not include NYC rents, labor, etc.) The quality of the meat is generally good but as other diners have noted, they are oversalted. Service is inattentive and spotty - our waiter did not have a good understanding of the different cuts and visits to check the table were about 15-20 mins apart (way too long even for a Sat night). Water glass remained unfilled all that time. A non-meat eater had chicken parmigiana, a grade above what you would find in a red and white tablecloth"

"firtst time there. recommended by a coworker. went with a party of four. food was excellent. steak melted in your mouth. will definitely go back again. only waited a while because we sat at a table for six and the waitress thought we were waiting for another couple. prices were reasonable for a steakhouse. very nice and quiet dining experience."

"Very expensive and I'm not convinced it's worth it. I had sirloin, one of the less expensive steak entrees and it turned out to be a huge portion of sliced steak, enough for two. There wAs gristle on the end. My endive salad was $11 and undistinguished. Pecan pie was not sweet, tho vanilla ice cream helped. All the side dishes were extra but at least they were tasty."

"One of the best steak houses in upper Westchester, but expensive for what you get. Prices comparable to Crabtree Kittle house although not as expensive as Stone Barn at Blue Hill."

"The food is always GREAT. Being Valentine's day weekend it seemed quiet at first and the restaurant quickly filled up. We were rushed at the beginning then waited 1/2 hour for the check, they were a bit understaffed."

"Steak was excellent and the presentation was well executed. We had the steak for four--two large Porterhouses cooked perfectly, cut off the bone into manageable pieces served on a large platter. Service was efficient, formal."

"We dined alone last Sunday! For the hour and a half that we were at the restaurant, there were no other patrons, but I don't know why. We had the most delicious, tender filet mignons we have ever had, perfectly cooked, just the way I ordered it (rare -- still quivering). Our attentive waitress was very helpful in making suggestions, and said that although it was quiet then, it had been really bustling on Friday and Saturday nights. We'd go back in a heartbeat!"

"I have been going to Flames for the past 15 years. Food is always consistent and alway extremely good. Wait staff is knowledgable and Nick, the owner, always checks in to make sure everyone is enjoying their experience. Their steaks are dry-aged to peak tenderness and seasoned perfectly. I put Flames above most notable steakhouses in NYC. Their eggplant rollentini is the best I've ever had, their steaks are impeccable and their wine list is smart and unique. Great for a date and great for a party. Ask about their wine cellar party room. It fits about 40 people and is a great experience. I highly recommend Flames to anyone in the NY area looking for a great steak."
