"We used to live in Carroll Gardens before Karloff opened and still love the neighborhood, so we come back often. We've passed Karloff and have wanted to try it, but never really had the chance. For Mother's Day, we were looking for something in that area and, since my mother's parents were German and Polish and she loves things like borscht and verenikis, we thought we'd give it a try. Maybe not the smartest idea going somewhere unfamiliar for Mother's Day, but we like to live dangerously. Happily, we had a great time and the food was beyond delicious and portion size was on target. Also, my wife (who's pregnant) asked if the cheese on a dish is pasteurized and, when the server checked, the chef came out to talk to her about it! Nice touch."

"Best burger I have had in a long time! The albarino (white wine) was also a winner. The keilbasa/potato croquettes were very good. The salad (poached pear and arugula) was another winner. Not an extensive menu, but well done all around. We didn't have room for dessert."
