Fantastic French Bistro Restaurant in Kitsilano, operated by Steeve Raye, son of Alain Raye, two time Michelin star-winner and operator of the flagship La Régalade French Bistro in West Vancouver. Renowned Chef Alain Raye of La Régalade French Bistro located in West Vancouver, and his son Steeve Raye have opened Café Régalade French Bistro, located in Vancouver"s, Kitsilano, March 2011.
"I have to have an Appetizer-the French onion tart and the beet salad, as for vegetarians they do not have much to choose from, but for meat lovers it is an ideal place with duck, beef and pork dishes. The cooking is excellent, the restaurant is on the pricey side, so do expect to pay around $70 for two with half a liter of wine. The portions are also European size. It was a real French dining experience. I only wish they had more veggie or fish dishes for those who cannot eat meat, but they seem to be overly busy like this already.."

"They need to update their website. The food we were looking to try wasn't available. The chef updates his own menu all the time, so if you see something on the website menu, it may or may not be on the actual menu. They were also out of the wine we ordered. The food was pretty amazing though. The ambience wasn't great. Our server was very friendly, but we waited a long time to have our drink orders taken. By the time we ordered our drinks, we were ready to order food. I'd say, if you like French food, give it a go, but you'll probably eat there once and keep checking out other places to dine."

"First time on this side, used to live in West Van and loved the West Van Regalade, wanted to try the Kits location. Really enjoyed it, great food and friendly service. The smoked Herring and potato salad was wonderful. Wine list is short but inexpensive (by Vancouver standards) for the quality for the wine we ordered. Nice casual atmosphere and well decorated as a French Bistro. Liked it and will come back."

"Took a little while to get us seated even with reservations. But.. They were doing their best and were extremely busy. The food and service was amazing !! Had the New York steak and the beet salad. Both were delicious!! Will be back here again."

"The Little Restaurant That Can Although small in size, this restaurant has a great menu, super wine list and is a gem nestled in Kits. Parking is easy. The food never fails to amaze, the service is friendly and personalised and the prices are incredibly reasonable. make sure you save room for the decadent desserts! Be sure to book ahead as not surprisingly this is a popular spot although the hostesses will work things around to try and accommodate last minute walk ins. Definitely a place where you can talk and not be hoarse at the end of the night .. not many of those left! Just a totally great experience."

"Recommend going there for brunch more than dinner, brunch is just phenomenal , but if going for dinner recommend the quinoa salad as well as the short rib dish"

"The food was average for the price. Had the duck a l'orange 'special' and was likely unlucky that the two pieces of duck I got were a bit lacking in meat. The sauce was good. The Dauphinais potatoes were excellent as was the lemon tart for dessert.
The server was very polite and busily managing a very full restaurant and the owner was slaving away in the kitchen turing out more duck than you can shake a stick at.
Regarding ambience, the place is quite nice looking but it was really cold and I had to eat my meal with my coat on. Unlikely I would go for dinner again unless there was a heat wave."

"Food and service were amazing. We were a group of six and I think the restaurant's intimate size would make it a better fit for a group of 4 or fewer. We didn't realize the restaurant usually wraps up around 10:30 on a Saturday night, so had we known that we would have made an earlier reservation or maybe chosen a different venue as this was a dinner for a group of friends who hadn't seen each other in a long time."

"Excellent French food. One of or the best French restaurants in Kits. Even the simple salad that accompanies most meals is so tasty and fresh. I can highly recommend to take a meringue to go after dinner, it is a great treat for later or next day. The only issue is that some seats in the front are a bit chilly in the winter since they are close to the door."

"Delicious food! The short ribs melt in your mouth and the beef bourguignon was yummy too! There is a large salad available for a group or family or four or more which is brought to your table so share - family style! It was quite noisy but it was 'happy' noise! People talking and enjoying. We were there on a busy night and one staff was running to keep up but did a pretty amazing job! We would definitely go back."
