The Melting Pot- Troy
We are the premier fondue restaurant where guests can enjoy a choice of fondue cooking styles and a variety of unique entrees, salads and indulgent desserts. It's up to you. Tailor your visit with a four-course dining experience including cheese fondue, salad, entree and dessert. Or, come by for fondue cheese paired with that perfect glass of wine from our extensive selection. That's not to say, we haven't had more than a few stop by to satisfy that chocolate craving after a movie.

"The restaurant itself was very clean. The waiter and waitress were respectful and so prompt. The meal was so perfect that it wasn't rushed you had lots of time to enjoy each item. Make sure you have time and your not in a rush. This is a dinner you want to enjoy. It's very different and unique and if your looking for something of a change to do this is the place. The food is amazing and the experience you will never forget. We came all the way from Canada to try it out and it was so worth it. Will go back again!"

"This was my second time at The Melting Pot and it was even better this time! The experience is absolutely worth the cost. It is not a quick meal, it gives people time to actually talk and interact during dinner. It stimulates conversation as you prepare your meal and try the difference sauces. Everything is very fresh and the chocolate is to die for. Very good service. I drove 2 hours to get there and will definitely be doing the drive again!"

"Restaurant does not warrant a 4.5 star rating. It's only OK. It's primary draw is it's novelty. Food is ok (not bad), but certainly not worth the $$$ price. Desert was better than the main course which came with small portions (full disclosure: I am not the typical American male who can devour a 16 oz steak; i'm usually good with 8 oz). Restaurant is probably worth checking out once if you live in metro Detroit, but I wouldn't bother if you're visiting from out of town. I have no desire to go back a second time."

"The Melting Pot experience was totally first class from the complimentary valet parking to the special attention for our meal and dessert. The chocolate covered strawberry plate that said happy 40th birthday was another special added touch. I had a terrific celebration."

"There are very few things that I can't say are amazing at The Melting Pot. Our server, Rachel, was fantastic. Honestly the best waitress I've ever had.
However, the waiter serving the table next to us was very, very loud. Also, there were a few groups surrounding us that were rather noising, which was disappointing as we were there for a romantic night out away from the kids. From the end of our desert course, we finished our wine, and then still waited nearly 20 minutes for our bill.
I wouldn't recommend coming if you're looking for something quick, but if you're looking to spend a good 3 hours enjoying some fantastic wine and a fun, delicious 4 course meal, I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else."

"The Melting Pot is great, but I think we learned a lesson on Mother's Day. On special occasions they offer a fixed menu and you must pick from their pre-set 4-course meal options. The kids menu includes ONLY protein, and they charge $15.99 per kid. That was for about 6 ounces of chicken. Seriously. Milk was $3.50 a glass.
We ordered the seafood option ($48) with lobster tail, salmon (2 small cubes), mahi-mahi (2 small cubes), shrimp (2 small size), 2 asparagus and 2 mushroom sacchetti. The cheese fondue was OK, and the chocolate was delicious, but not enough. In the end we paid $180 for a family of 4 (no wine!) and left somewhat hungry.
Stick to the regular days. Order a single fondue on a night out with friends and enjoy the fun."

"Service was very slow. I had to search for our waitress twice. We had dined at another Melting Pot and knew what to expect as far as portions and length of dining experience. While the staff was vey nice, there was a lot of excuses and finger pointing about why the service was so slow. After the main cooking pot was brought out and boiling, we waited 25 minutes for her to bring the meat and veggies to cook. It was disappointing."

"Been here a few times, every time we have wonderful service. My husband & I really enjoy the food as well. For future visits, we think we will skip the meat/entree though because the only two ways you can 'cook' your meat is either boiling it in flavored broth or frying it in tempura. Neither way was very appetizing. The cheese fondue, salads & dessert are wonderful though!"

"My fiancé and I have come to the Melting Pot a few times, so we were excited to show our friends. Our experiences there on the past lasted between an hour and a half to two hours. Tonight, it took four. We felt like we were getting forgotten about all night, it took about an hour between when they took the salads and when we got our entrees. We understand it was a Saturday night, but we can't recall it taking 45 minutes just to pay our bills. Might need a few extra people so the servers can concentrate on less patrons."

"The Melting Pot is a great concept that needs refinement... Being a first timer the program wasn't very clear nor explained well. We stumbled our way through and made a good time of it... the service was very slow and scattered, 15 to 20 mins to get our first round of beverages. When dining you shouldn't have to ask to have a beverage refilled, this happened with water/s, kids soda's as well as our beers. This still did not improve once we engaged the manager for help..."

"I wish Melting Pot in Troy, MI weren't in a high rise office building. This detracts significantly from the ambiance. Also, in another location it would be lovely to enjoy fondue outdoors, with heated lamps. For the cost of the meal (we had two adults, and two kids), we'd really like the ambiance improved.
The vegetables for the cheese fondue and the main course never seem as fresh and crisp as I'd like to see. I'd also like to see more variation in the vegetables.
The service is always so amazing at Melting Pot. The staff is patient with the kids, and we all feel as though they are aware we're there to celebrate, which is really nice."

"We went to the Melting Pot to celebrate our 1yr. Wedding anniversary, however our experience was a bit ruined by negligent service...and this is not the first time. It also happened to us back in January we were there to celebrate my husband's 25th birthday. To feel so ignored on such special occasions really makes you feel unwelcomed. Overall, the food was very good except for our burnt peanut butter, which I guess is our fault for not stirring."

"We thouroughly enjoyed our first visit to your restaurant . It was our anniversary and it was very special. My husband and I both experienced a mild case of food posioning within a couple of hours after our dinner. This lasted twelve hours. Even with this I still consider the evening very special. We will be back and hope this time there will be no stomach problems. I am curious as to if any other diners experienced this problem."

"Loved everything. I went there for a date, a first time experience for both of us. The food was fantastic and the server made it really easy for us as first timers of gourmet fondu. I'm a server myself so I can be critical of other servers. She was great! She was at the table enough to be useful and help us along our experience but was never intrusive. I loved the atmosphere and how fun it was. The experience is really great because it's so interactive and you can have fun with each other. My ONLY critique, and most people probably wouldn't have noticed, is the music choice. It was a constant rotation of Jack Johnson, John Mayer and Coldplay. I really loved everything, just add a little variety to the music."

"This was a really nice evening but you need at least 2 hours for this experience. Great for a first date because there is lots of time to get to know someone. A little on the expensive side but not outrageous."

"A "different" dining option. Enjoyed the experience. Without alcohol, dinner $94 for two. Many places we could eat that is not as "interactive" and entertaining but the entrée would be more satisfying. Very occasional, not regular, place to dine."

"Went out for a nice dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday and though the food was fantastic as usual (cheese and chocolate), the service was terrible. Food brought at the wrong times, long waits to see our waiter, multiple requests, wrong drinks, poorly mixed cheese fondue, added charges on our bill for drinks we didn't order, and it goes on.
I hate tipping low, but had to in this case along with a brief note. What a shame to have the service actually take away from the enjoyment of the food and special occasion, especially at the price point for this restaurant."

Although I thought the pricing was exspensive. I couldn't figure out why you have to
pay for the oil. You have to have something to cook your food in. Just a way to charge more money. That was an extra $12.
We didn't see our waitress very much.

"Definitely not kid friendly! We made the mistake of bringing our 8 month old to our anniversary dinner and he was not happy. Booths are already cramped and burner hoses and dials are within reach at the side of the booth. Its so quiet that whenever he made a sound babbling we wanted to keep it down. It would be good if we were alone though. Service was not great the waiter was not friendly and filled drinks twice in 2 hrs. Food was awesome. Half dozen roses were ridiculous expensive."

"I just absolutely looooovvvee this place as a very romantic spot to be at for two couples. The lighting was perfect dim and romantic and the way the table booth was set up, it was made for being close and cuddled up with that special person in your life. The food was soooooo delicious from the the appetizer to the end of it which was the dessert. The desert was what made it all soooo special with a cherry on top. It bought me and my boyfriend even more close to being very intimate with each other. The waitress was verrrry professional and at the same time just full of great personality. Great restaurant for any type of event. It definitely gave me something new and exciting to do in Troy, Michigan, and is going on my top 5 favorite places."

"The food is very good, but every time I go I get a server who has both our table (generally 4-6 people) and another very large group (15+ people). The server's attention is focused so much on the larger group that the pace of our meal tends to be much slower than I've come to expect with fondue. I don't hold this against the server, but I think the management needs to better balance the wait staff's workload. Over 3 hours for dinner is WAY too long."
