"My wife and I dined at the Cerulean for our 26th wedding anniversary. I made the reservation on the advice of my daughter and did not know what to expect. We were blown away by the service, the food, and the whole experience. If you want a little adventure with your dinner, I highly recommend Cerulean. Outstanding!"

"easily the most innovative menu in the city lacking only about 2 more entrée choices. portions are perfect for all but the gluttonous though the vegetables are skimpy to almost non-existent. heart-healthy afficianados should ask the salt addition be kept to a minimum for health reasons and to not distort the natural flavor (this is the only problem with the otherwise spectacular scallop second course).for the price, the service was a bit spotty though the nearest table (with a different server) did get excellent service. C has a very impressive wine list, but a pedestrian dessert list. why isn't the cheese plate offered as a dessert course? love the space itself, and the total package is close to superb, needing just a few minor tweeks."

"Fist time visiting the beautiful new Alexander Hotel and we couldn't have been more impressed by our dinner at Cerulean. The food was interesting and delicious, which was only increased by the service we received. Our server was extremely knowledgable and you could tell he was passionate about his job. The wine pairings that he suggested were right on, and we found ourselves running out of adjectives to describe each course, so "amazing" was where we landed. Can't wait to dine there again!"

"First I'll say I was taken to Cerulean for a work dinner mid-week, and went with a friend the next night it was so good and I wanted to try other things on the menu.
The menu itself is odd and the food sounds odd. Don't believe it. The Chef has put these meals together with an expert sense of sensory combinations that will leave you satisfied, and, on occasion, speechless. (Comment from friend first night, upon eating rhubarb starter: "I just need a moment.").
And kudos to the wide, thoughtful array of gluten-free options for those of us who are unable to eat gluten. My NON-gluten-free friend ordered the gluten-free gnocchi and just loved it. Who needs gluten? And the chocolate kava chocolate thing at the end - well I ordered it twice."

"Cerulean's sophisticated menu is a true intrigue--the restaurant specializes in pairing interesting combinations of familiar and unfamiliar tastes in the same dish. When it works, it's terrific, like the chickpea fritter appetizer ($4) which features jalapeno yogurt, cilantro, and mint, and the corn macaroon appetizer ($4) with pork belly and smoked cheddar and arugula. When it doesn't work. . . well, it's still kind of interesting. The restaurant seems unafraid to throw innovative dishes at its patrons and trusts that they will be willing to go along for the ride. What your waiter delivers to you always looks different than what you imagine, and that's a great thing. Great decor, great service, great wine list, smart execution."

"The Cerulean restaurant is a much welcome addition to the fast changing scene south of downtown Indy. The dinning experience is excellent with a simple 3 page menu plus one dessert menu to complete your dining experience. Each page only contains 5-8 dishes each but are so diverse in ingredients and appeal that it is still a hard to choose just one....so don't...get two!. Plating of the dishes and the service was well done and was only second to the superbly prepared dishes full of traditional and modern flavors. Most of the ingredients are sourced throughout Indiana, not only supporting local farmers, but also means that their menu will change along with the seasons. Good variety of micro-beers with a wine list that will cover most people."

"After looking at the menu online, I definitely wanted to eat at this new restaurant. They have set up the menu s a four course meal which I think would be too much food. Although I did have three courses, I think that two would be plenty of food. I started with pork belly which was delicious and an item I have never had before. I followed it with the two scallops and then had fish for my main dish. All of the food was excellent! I will definitely go again!"

"Our group had dinner on a weeknight and really enjoyed the experience. Our server (Rachael) was very knowledgeable and was able and willing to describe the items that were on the menu. We started out with a variety of the small plates. I thought the cauliflour frites paired with a raisin puree and garlic sauce was an excellent choice. For the middle course, I selected the white asparagus soup. For my main course, I selected the striped bass. I really liked the seasoning on the bass, but found the pastiness of the fava beans distracting.
The portions on most meals didn't appear to be very large (with the exception of the pork porterhouse my wife ordered). However, we were all quite full."

"My wife and I enjoyed our wedding aniversary dinner as first time diners at Cerulean on a busy Wednesday night. Both the food and service were excellent. We had a wide variety of items from the menu including a few small and medium dishes and two entrees. Timing between courses was good, the food was not only some of the best I've tasted in many years but also presented very artistically. We finished with two desserts that were wonderful. The best dishes of the night were the scallops and the striped bass, but it was a tough call. I would highly recommend Cerulean to anyone looking for great food at a not outrageous price."

"From the atmosphere and the service to the food, our experience was outstanding. My wife and I visited to celebrate our anniversary. When a representative from the restaurant called to verify our reservation, she also asked if we were celebrating anything special. I informed her of our anniversary and when we arrived there was a special celebratory drink at our table. It was very nice that they took the time to make our dining experience extra special. We were very pleased with the entire experience and will be visiting again."

"Everything about Cerulean is good, not great. The service is good as long as you know this is not a meal it is an experience. The atmosphere was great, and I would recommend asking to sit in the nest area. In terms of food expect to pay $100/couple minimum.
I had the pork belly, asparagus soup, and pork porterhouse. The pork belly is great, but you get one piece, and that is all you get. I still think it was overpriced at $4 for one piece. The white asparagus soup was fantastic, and the best part of the meal. The pork porterhouse was ok, the best part of the dish was the cornbread and sauce. The porterhouse was ordered medium, and I thought it was dry.
Again, not a bad meal, but for $100 I expect more."

"Excellent food, but those small portions like you see on Iron Chef. Would definitely recommend the cauliflower fritas (they look like fried mozzarella, but it's pureed cauliflower instead) but not the rhubarb crumble. That was 3 slices of rhubarb with little crumbles & some sort of dot of cream. Different & tasty, but definitely disappointed in the portion size. The asparagus soup was very good, as was the duck & monkfish. Don't let the fact that one of the monkfish ingredients is a marshmallow. It's weird, but it works. The short ribs were recommended by 2 different people; next time I'll have to try them"

"For our first experience to this restaurant was enjoyable,the stark setting and hard walls did not make for quiet conversation. While our waiter was prompt, and he explained that the courses were SMALL BITE servings, I felt that my inital choice would be more condusive to sharing if there were 2 macaroons with the pork belly, My partner had the Indiana shrimp really just ONE? the second course was nice and turn around between courses was quick a slightly larger portion would encourage sharing. For the entre'e I had the Pork porterhouse. A nice size and the side was tasty, my partner had the bass filet & said it was very well done, I had the Coffee & Cream for the dessert & my partner tried the Mango passion.I give it a B+ will try again"

"Knew nothing about this place and wow, it was a great surprise! Food served as small dishes and a few courses. Food is pretty on the plate, like magazine pics and it tastes great too! The restaurant dinning area is just awesome and decorated in a very modern theme. Ok, the best of best was Miranda. She was our server and just amazing. She explained all the foods and favors as each of the dishes came out. Great food and drink recommendations. She became a huge part of the whole dining experience. Very natural, helpful, and friendly. We were celebrating a birthday, so it was natural to ask her to be in the picture with us! We eat out at a lot of nicer restaurants and this one has the total package!"

"I agree with most of the reviews that this place is as good as it gets for a special evening out. Do not agree with some reviews that complain about serving size, cost or that the restauratn is trying to be something it isn't. They have an assortment of small plates at $4 and larger appetizer in a higher dollar range. The main courses were large enough that my wife finished only half (short ribs) and finished all the duck breast, but was stuffed. The prices were what you would expect (try eating in another city). Serve was fantastic. Wait staf was not overly bothersome, but always there when we needed them. Will definitely go back."

"Excellent service, beautiful restaurant. I had a NYC experience in my own home town. The "fried bread" was to die for; and, I liked the flow of the meal - small bites that progressed to the entree. I would have liked at least two shrimp during the first course; but, I do plan to return soon. It is nice to eat locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables in season."

"This was my first visit to Cerulean. This is a new restaurant located in the new Alexander Hotel in downtown Indianapolis.
In this place you order a main course for lunch and three additional very small side dishes. For my lunch I ordered the risotto with wild mushrooms and five spring vegetables as my main meal and my three side dishes were a strawberry gazpacho,a chorizo potato salad and a bib lettuce and palms of heart salad.
Even though the service was good, the waiter brought in our orders completely mixed so I got my friend's main course (duck breast) with my three side dishes and we had to exchange these. The food was good but my risotto was way too salty and my bib salad had no flavor whatsoever. Parking was very expensive at $20."

"It was my first time and I really enjoyed the whole experience. The food arrangement was really neat and different from what I was used to in that being everything was put in its own small bowl that was puzzled in a box. It was really cute! "Celebrated my birthday dinner with my husband here. We had a wonderful booth overlooking the outside. The table setting with beautiful centerpiece was amazing! The decor is outstanding, relaxing, and energizing. The food was incredible and the best part of the experience. Our service was outstanding, everyone greets you with a smile, our server was helpful in describing our plates and what everything was on the plate (the menu is a bit unusual but not so unusual you aren't interested in eating it). All the food is from Indiana purveyors so they incorporate a lot of ingredients like dandilions, fish and meat from Indiana purveyors. They even roast their own coffee. Everything here is amazing. It's worth coming here!"
