"I made reservations for our 7th wedding anniversary and indicated that when I made the reservations. They ended up giving us a table in the noisy section where you can see the kitchen. While they provided complementary dessert on platter that had "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate, it was brought out shortly after we sat down; not at the end of our meal. But all the appetizers and entrees we ordered were very tasty."

"The Hamachi shots are excellent as usual, and so was the fried clam chowder, though a bit different. The seared Mero was also pretty good, and so was the steak. I understand that the Salmon was not as good. May be a bit dry. Though it is supposed to be a seafood restaurant, the menu choices is rather limited, less than 6 main seafood courses to choose from.
The service was also quite good. Overall, I would give it a 4 1/2 star. A bit pricey for the food though. We loved the Alexander's Steakhouse in Cupertino, and their steak is a lot better than their seafood."

"I loved the decor and the lightness of the space. Three of us loved our meals and one was disappointed in the mero. She had also previously been disappointed in the salmon (inedible). The service was too enthusiastic at the beginning. We kept getting interrupted! There were some mistakes in our dishes (kitchen errors, not the service). They are a bit pretentious, $20-$25 for a glass of Chardonnay! I would suggest it for a special occasion, but it's a bit pricey for a regular night out."

"Food is very delicious, service very friendly and attentive though it is crowded, ambience is modern and nice, feel very relaxed. Price is about the same as Gary Danko for a three courses dinner. However, The Sea has bigger portion, top and unique ingredients like mero and tuna from Hawaii, soft shell crab from Maryland, John Dory from New Zealand, etc. I have never tasted something like these before, really a great dinner experience. Definitely one of the best fine dinning restaurants must go."

"We were celebrating a family birthday, and everyone enjoyed the dinner. The crab cakes are a family favorite. We shared the truffled fries which were delicious. Our fish dishes were cooked exactly as we asked. The special chocolate dessert for our birthday guy was much appreciated. Thomas is an outstanding waiter - can answer any question about the food, is there when you need him, and not hovering when you don't."

"This is definitely an upscale, upprice place. The Presentation is beautiful. The Food is excellent. The Servings are on the small side for many people, I am sure, since we here in the USA expect large portions, but we prefer a smaller portion and came away delightfuly fed and treated.
A fine restaurant also serves little treats (AMUSE-BOUCHE); The Sea serves a Pre and Post Amuse-bouche, along with an ending finishing treat of a cone of Cotton Candy. Although it doesn't relieve the pain of your final bill, it definitely ends the whole affair at The Sea on a fun note.
We would definitely recommend The Sea, and would come back the next time we come to the Palo Alto area."

"The Sea by Alexander's Steakhouse seems to have found the niche that their steakhouse hasn't. A handful of mouthwatering starters, the Hamachi Shots are flawlessly perfect every time, their lobster rocks not as tongue tantalizing as they were described and a lobster risotto, even Gordon Ramsey would be proud of. A small yet discerning set of main courses, that proved they kept the food integrity intact and no room for error. Perfectly presented art pieces, that were devoured. A creative list of desserts to follow. The sommelier on hand helped picked out a lovely wine with dinner, that pleased everyone. Service was attentive and flowed throughout the evening. Overall it was a perfect evening. A small creative menu that is sure to please."

"The food was good, but not excellent. We had expected better because we enjoy Alexander's Steakhouse so much. The service was only fair. Had a hard time getting anyone's attention to correct the drink order and we never received the additional bread we asked for. I understand the restaurant is new, but it appears they have alot to still workout before I would recommend it as an excellent choice."

"We're regulars to Alexander's Steakhouse in Cupertino and love the food and service there. So we wanted to try out The Sea with the expectation that the level of service and food would be very similar to one in Cupertino. However, we left very disappointed. It appeared that the person who served us had his mind else where (not even a smile). There were a bunch of servers running around causing so much distractions. The bread server walked by us several times not paying attention that we were even there, until we asked our server for bread. We had the Grilled King Salmon and Live Scallops. They were okay, not good or great. We were expecting that > $40 per entree would be better than good. It is very likely that we would not come back."

"This restaurant delivers handsomely at a stunningly high price. The staff was almost too helpful, the food tasty, the bill breath-taking. "The food here is very good, the hamachi shots were very excellent, just the right amount of spices to enhance the fish wihtout overwhelming it. The seared tuna was very fresh and melted in the mouth, the staff was very accomodating. I'd love to go back more often, but the prices are sky high, it's OK for a special occasion, but certainly not your average let's eat out tonight dinner."

"Our waiter, Thomas, was fantastic in describing all the dishes and wines. We enjoyed every morsel of what we ordered - crab cakes were outstanding. The portions are small, but by the end of our meal, we felt we had eaten more than enough. Always love the cotton candy at the end."

"Most of the dishes were very good, but none of them blew us away like the dishes at Alexanders did. One item that was especially underwhelming (considering the price) was the Sea Urchin hot appetizer. The spreadable mix of ingredients was tasty, but didn't taste of sea urchin at all. I'd rather see a heavy sea-urchiny dip with tangy ingredients to offset the heaviness served as garnishes to the dip, not mixed into it. Also, the brioche toast that came with it was too soft. It didn't go well with the gooey spread."

"This was our fist time at Alexander's the Sea. Overall enjoyed all the dishes and there were some innovative cocktails as well. Our service was very attentive, the food was delicious and creative. The sommelier was very helpful. Only issue I had was the owner had her family/friends sitting next to our table. She spent more time with that table then the entire restaurant of people. Given the high ticket price of our evening, the owner's lack of customer service was disappointing."

"This was our second time dining at The Sea. The first time was very nice, but his time the service was poor. 20 minutes for waiter to show; 30-40 minutes before we got water, bread and wine; 1 hour before appetizers due to waiting for correct dish to be available, only to find out they brought me the wrong item (thus not really needing special dish). No check backs on food quality after that. Overall the dinner was saved by good food, but now my wife and I, who struggle to find time for dates as new parents, are worried about the consistency of service. We want to come back, but may choose to spend our money elsewhere."

"The execution of the dishes was outstanding.
We ordered the mini crab cakes as one of our appetizers and they were cooked just how a crab cake should be cooked. They held together but, you could not only taste the crab but also its texture.
The salmon was cooked to medium-rare perfectly, and I mean perfect in the literal sense of the word. It could not have been done better. Very impressive.
The amusements were delightful.
The bar is very nice and they have quite a good gin selection. Something of a rarity in SV. But, a few their gins are over 100 proof, so you might want to be aware that when you order.
But, The Sea by Alexanders is not just a great fish restaurant, it is a great restaurant, period full stop."

"The dinner was a treat for my husband's birthday. He enjoyed the food, especially the steak( we ordered the Trio ) and the lobster. We tried salad, soup ,dessert ...the whole nine yard ;-) And we admired Chef Lin's creativity.. No bias ---we are Lins', too.
It was a wonderful experience ... except for the area they seated us ... We were in the area with "group"s, it was a bit noisy ,at times ...
It's hard to feel the "romance" when there are people at near-by table laughing ,talking loud and taking pictures thoughout the dinner... The flash light gets annoying ..."
