"Terrible dining experience. Front of house staff were distracted and didn't seem to want to be there. Waitress was one of the worst ever. Her "assistant" didn't bring bread until asked. They were out of three of the best-sounding menu items-we had to change our order. Service was slow. They only have bottled iced tea?!?! Food was just ok. Bill was more than $200. A complete letdown from start to finish. Will NEVER go back or refer anyone. Predict closing in 6 months."

"We went for the food. Got poor service, lot's of noise, a menu that wasn't descriptive and pedestrian food. What this is, is a "scene" for twenty-somethings. Not a place we will return to--ever. We already have told several others who intended to go, not to bother."

"After reading good review wanted to try something new But walked away unimpressed and underwhelmed. Well our waitress was wonderful the food was okay it was unbelievably loud with overall poor service. We waited for close to 15 minutes before anyone came to our table and they turned the lights off before we were done eating."

"Service was so, so. I think our server was new. They need to get better at clearing empty glasses and just how they serve food. Had a couple of plate shoved in my face as the server was trying to reach over me. Had the ravioli pasta, not much flavor and really small portions. Plenty of other better places to dine downtown for the price. Décor is awesome though!"

"The food was OK but the servers seemed bored and not very enthused. Had to sit in the main dining area downstairs next to the kitchen and it was loud and not very relaxing. Maybe the roof dining would make up for the so-so menu but since you can't get a seat up there, more than likely will not come back. The quality of the food is not worth the price paid."

"We had heard good things about this restaurant. We were not able to get on the rooftop and ate in the main dinning room. The selection of snacks/starters/apps were limited, but unique. We had the donut holes and wild rice krispies. Not all that impressive. The main meals were tasty, but too small (expecially for the price!). Have done better in downtown Mpls."

"OUTSTANDING! I had ordered flowers in advance and the table was set perfectly. We have been going out for 41 years to celebrate our anniversary and this was, by far, the most memorable. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The food was suburb and the presentation worthy of a picture. I can't say enough about this place."

"Occasion birthday/valentines dinner with wife. We came early to for rooftop drinks on a cold snowy February night and enjoyed a cocktail and wine along with some friendly bar service - the atmosphere was very laid back in unique surroundings. We dined in the main dining room rolling through a 4 course meal (split between the 2 of us) of appetizer, salad, entree, & dessert. The rib-eye steak was the star of the food show, it was everything a fine steak should be. The main dining room was nice, though a little cramped given the overall space (I think it was a layout issue) and our waiter was strange, but entertaining. All in all a great place for a special night out - shouldn't disappoint."

"We ate about 6 pm on a Friday night. Dining room was almost empty so noise wasn't an issue. Great service, wonderful food. We had the cheese plate, duck, and suckling pig which were all excellent. The oat bread was also very tasty. We will be back, rooftop will be fun in the summer--we looked at it now but it was very noisy (mostly young crowd) with the glass roof shut."

"Great looking menu! Great service.
3 out of our 5 entrees were not up to par. The egg noodles with sautéed lamb was about 10 levels beyond "too salty". It was difficult to eat. The fish dishes were either over or under done, and had very little flavor other than "fishy".
The apps were good, so if there is ever a next time we will stick to small plates."

"I spent at least 30 minutes reading some reviews online prior to our visit just to get a better idea of what to look out for.
Our experience was outstanding. The wait-staff was awesome. Many times I didn't even notice them stopping by, I just noticed that my water was full or my empty plates was gone.
Our waitress was great. Very engaging and personable - but a very hard worker.
The recommendations for food choices made by several of the wait-staff were spot on. I had the Pumpkin Ravioli which was a very tasty, solid choice.
My wife had the duck which was outstanding.
We have 3 kids and don't get a lot of time out to ourselves. I will think very positively about our choice of the Union."

"Very loud, high ceilings and no carpet or fabric anywhere. Would not recommend bringing kids. The bar tender forgot my dates wine, after 10 min reminded him again. He apologized and gave her a free glass. I was impressed with the service, when you make a mistake and then make it up to your guest it is nice. Great front door valet service, free coat check. Food was interesting, good, would definitely go back."

"Service was great. Food was disappointing. I would not recommend the steak tartar, carrot appetizer or pumpkin ravioli. The best thing we had was the shaved apple salad with goat cheese and roasted hazelnuts. Too bad this great location with great ambiance could deliver great food."

"Our waiter was a doll - can't remember his name - Caleb, Carl (cute, nerdy-type with glasses)? He was cute with glasses and very personable. Made great recommendations for food and wine choices and was very engaging! Love it!"

"We went for dinner and had a enjoyable meal - not outstanding. However, we went several nights later for a late-night drink and the service was poor and the music level was deafening even in the dining area. We were told that there was nothing to do about it. We probably won't return - too bad because it's a convenient spot for late-night drinks after a show."

"We were there for our anniversary. The total experience was underwhelming. The waiter was not attentive. My husband was happy with the suckling pig but the ribeye was not good. It came lukewarm. The beet sauce made the dish unappealing because it looked like blood. The greens overwhelmed the dish. Would not recommend this restaurant."

"We had a cadre of servers, each very attentive, which was nice. We tried 3 snacks/appetisers, and between the 4 of us had 3 different entrees. All thought their food was good, but not exceptional. We were worried about the donut holes based on the name, but they turned out to be VERY good. Mixed reviews on the carrots. The pineapple upside down cake was the highlight!"

"The food and service were excellent. Our dinner for four consisted of five snacks, one shared seafood plate, and two appetizers. All were well presented, tasty, and a bit unique.
What will keep me from ever returning is the very intense noise level. By the time I headed home my ears were ringing and I had pretty much lost my voice from yelling so much. Union needs to either add some room dividers or acoustic tiling on the ceiling to dampen the noise. Until that happens I will not go back - no matter how good everything else was."

"Baby Kale salad and bone in strip steak were very good, as was the veal. Service at the bar before dinner was slow and the bartender was not especially helpful regarding cocktail selection. Table service was friendly but again lacking in depth of knowledge about both the menu and wine list. Space is beautiful with a bit of the see and be seen crowd."

"We flew into MN on business and happened to read a review about the restaurant and decided to check it out. To our surprise, it was truly amazing. Our waitress was awesome and gave great pointers on the menu selection to even drinks.

"The evening started with a couple unique cocktails and then proceeded on to our first appetizer of mussels. Very nicely flavored. We then ordered the sturgeon which came out sushi grade style with caviar on top. The sturgeon was exteremely fishy. Good quality fish should not taste fishy. We told our waitress who kindly said she would remove it from our bill. The manager came to our table to inquire and essentially told us "that's how it's supposed to taste". First, you never argue with the customer. Second and more importantly, for a new rest. downtown that changes their menu frequently, this type of critique should be highly valued not disregarded as being wrong."
