"The Pear had ambience, fantastic service, and a quality menu. The Napa Riverfront view was a nice change. There is literally a subculture of back patio dining in that area. So peaceful and pleasant. Our server was attentive and helpful, yet professional at the same time. I had a Po' Boy, and my wife had a Cobb salad. Both were pretty good."

"Our first visit here with friends. Great ambience, nice bar. We each had a different entree-all were great. Servings on the large side so with the appetizer we shared and our salads we were all too full for dessert. Next time for sure"

"Just a fair experience at The Pear. Being from the South, I was excited to try some southern food in Napa. The service was great, but the room was drab and the food only ok. Crab Dip was more dip than crab, shrimp and grits was salty, cold and the sauce wasn't red eye gravy as promised. They would have to really improve execution for me to go back."

"We had a marvelous Friday night dinner at The Pear - 5 of us. The menu is Southern with a California foodie flair (but the flavors are decidedly Southern!) The "Fish and Chips" consisted of two huge pieces of fried catfish which were delicious! I had Chicken and Waffles with a delicious Bourbon maple syrup. One person got the French Onion soup - light and rich at the same time. Another got the gumbo, which was just spectacular. AND...do NOT miss the desserts! Bananas Foster Bread Pudding rocked, as did the strawberry shortcake! All in all, a really lovely, delicious restaurant that should not be missed along the Napa Riverfront!"

"I was attending the Bottle Rock Festival in Napa and we decided to try The Pear out because their menu looked awesome. The restaurant is beautiful, the outdoor dining area is wonderful and has a great view, and their service was really great.
We got the tater tots to share as an appetizer which were DELICIOUS! For the main course, I went against my initial instinct to get the chicken & waffles (which I read great things about) and got the french dip. The french dip was pretty good but I probably wouldn't order it again. I like a thinner sliced meat and I found the aus jus tasted more salty than aus-jusy. My sister and her friend really enjoyed what they ordered.
I will ABSOLUTELY be back to try the chicken & waffles! Yum!"

"Very tasty albeit a bit rich. It's location right on the river makes for a great ambiance. Our waiter was very attentive and accommodating. The flourless chocolate cake is to die for - plan on sharing it with a friend or two."

"The food was very good. I had prawns and shallots in a creole sauce over jasmine rice, which was very flavorful. My husband had chicken dumplings, which was also good, but not as good. For dessert we had banana bread pudding. It was delicious, but I think it should be called banana loaf cake, because there really is not pudding consistency to it. I thought service was a bit slow, but as a NYer, I basically feel that way everywhere out of NYC."

"Started with fried pickles, tater tots and buffalo wings and all were very good. Spicey sauces really make them great. Smoked-trout salad was delicious as was the chicken. The flourless chocolate cake with sea salt, carmel and pistachios is NOT TO BE MISSED! Wow!"

"More Southern than New Orleans, this new addition to the Napa River Walk scene features tasty food served in generous portions. Service seems a little confused at times. It gives the area a little variety in food selection. Fair pricing."

"Solid good food. Touted as Southern Cooking, noted more of a CA bent. But that is OK with us as heavy Southern cooking is not what we would choose to eat on an every day basis. Servers were a bit over zealous to remove plates. The table next to us had to stop them from taking her salad plate from her at least three times. She was a slow eater. There was a hige empty space in the middle and yet our tables under the window ere very close. Wonder what the reason is? Entrance a bit hard to find. Signs around the corner on Main would be a good idea. Would go again."

"Friday night with 11 year old and 16 year old (who has a passion for Southern food). 11 year old loved the fried pickles and chicken & waffles (the pickle spears were big for my taste, I've had fried pickle chips that I much preferred but if you're a dill pickle fan, you'll like); son and I had shrimp and grits which he liked, I not as big a fan, a bit rich though I should have expected that! Our favorite appetizer around the table hands-down were the tater tots-- so glad we read reviews about those! Would definitely come back!"

"We had brunch at The Pear on Sunday. We were the only people there during the whole time we were there. I understand they had been open for brunch a very short while. The server took our drink order (coffee and 1 wine) and food order. He spilled the wine and ignored it. We never saw him again. The food arrived warm and we had to wave our arms to get any attention. The service was not attentive!!!"

"The food was fantastic but the service was slow. The white wine came out not chilled so we had to ask for a bucket of ice three times, more glasses another three times. I was surprised that they cleared my mother''a plate before everyone else had finished too. Besides the bad service the food was excellent and I loved being right on the river. I would go back for the food."

"The Pear never disappoints! This newest restaurant venture in Napa is another shining star for Chef Rodney Worth. After a few hours of wine tasting with friends we came to relax along the Napa waterfront and enjoy delicious eats at The Pear. Our requested bottle of wine was not available but in keeping with their exceptional service we were offered an even better bottle of wine at the same price. Tasty bites, friendly staff and great location- no complaints here!"

"Fantastic food: the mac n cheese on the bourbon ribs was perfect, the tater tots to start were crispy and full of vibrant flavor. Ribs were tender. The atmosphere was great until a four top sat a table over from where we were. One of the "gentleman" kept cursing uncomfortably loud. Loud enough to make me want to say something. Working in the industry as long as I have, as a bartender/server/management, I can put up with a lot, but man, this guy was unbearable. He kept telling his friend to "shut the f up". It was clear that their server, which was also our server, was uncomfortable. As a manager at a restaurant, she should have grabbed the manager on duty asap instead of hiding in the back. Staff could have been trained better."

"I had the shrimp and grits and it was fabulous! And I'm fussy about both my grits and shrimp. The bacon almost overpowers the shrimp but not entirely. My friend had a pasta dish with peas and she said it was "fabulous" and loved the sauce. Keep up the good work!"

"My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at The Pear and had a fabulous meal. They started us with complimentary fondue plate with fruit and bread which was a nice treat to start off with our bottle of Pinot Noir! We wanted to try "Chicken and waffles" which was a first for us and also the fish and chips. Both were cooked perfectly and were very tasty and decadent. I had previously been there for lunch and had the best pulled pork sandwich ever! The service was spot on and the staff were very friendly. They were very busy so I recommend making reservations. I look forward to warm weather when we can sit outside and eat.."

"I ordered the Baby Back ribs, and the sauce on them was way too chili based. The Collard Greens were excellent, but not enough of them. The Mac n Cheese was the biggest disappointment. It was runny with very little cheese. My date had the Salmon and liked it. The Jalapeno Bites appetizer was pretty good. There are so many other options for better food."

"Ribs were fall off the bone. The short ribs were outstanding and along with the 'dripping', made this dish 'the best'. We all shared some appetizers, the blue crab dip and a "brie melted" tortilla dish, please, you must must order. Finally,it is so nice to order an appetizer and have enough crackers/bread. Will be back! I have had lunch here outside, this time we ate inside on a busy saturday...noise level was fine. I think they improved the kitchen fans noise."

"Came to the Pear with a group of friends (7)for dinner. It was light and bright with large windows on the Napa Riverfront. Our server Benjamin was very knowledgeable about the menu, daily specials and the wine list. We tried several of Benjamin's recommendations, enjoying every bite. Every dish we tried was perfect! Our service was spot on.Looking forward to our next visit!"

"Wow - Chief Worth has done it again... His "Pear" restaurants are wonderful, but this one is the best. from service to food to the view of the Napa River. We had the fried pickles, scrumptious, the YaYa gumbo with gulf shrimp, perfect and the best were the shrimp and grits.. classic southern dish... our previous favorite for this dish were Micheal Minna's serving @ American Fish in Vegas, but Rodney beat Micheal - Amazing!"

I had the chicken with waffles which were flavorful and my wife raved about the salmon and the mash potatoes. Our friends shared the ribs and mac and cheese."

"The Pear was very energetic on a Saturday night. Our server was very attentive but not overbearing and the food was well prepared. We had the crab artichoke dip, which while good, not overly memorable. The salmon on the other hand was very tasteful on a bed of wilted spinach and potatoes. We will definitely return to the Pear!"

"If you love great home cooked food - only you don't have to make it, then this is the place for you. Very large portions as well so go there when you're hungry. The Pear has everything from grilled shrimp to meatloaf. I saw the Shrimp Po Boy go by but for lunch that was a bit much. Next time, I will have to get that. The French Onion Soup also looked like something to die for. I stuck with a wonderful salad that I ate EVERY bite of - which is rare for me so you know it's gotta be a good one. Definitely going back there for dinner very soon."
