"The menu was interesting with many unique options. Our server, Ben, was fantastic and made great recommendations. Highly recommend the butternut squash soup. The featured appetizer was a crab cake atop homemade guac. Though the crab cake was good, the fresh made jalapeno lime guac was amazing. I had the lamb chops, which were very good. My husband's dinner was by far the standout dish, a veal stuffed ravioli in a truffle Marsala sauce. Extremely rich and delicious. I am not sure if I could eat an entire plate, but my husband had no problem, sopping up the last drop of sauce with the homemade bread."

"Our meal was delicious and our waiter was excellent. He was very good with the wine list and the food questions. I had butternut squash soup and my companions had salads that looked great. I got the special grouper of the evening and had a tasty scoop of gelato for a "light" dessert."

"It is rare that our family tries a restaurant twice and comes back saying "wow" but this is the case for Alfio's. I don't think my 21 year old daughter will ever eat a filet mignon unless it is from their chefs. Great dining experience."

"Here is a restaurant that understands how to treat their customers. Nice selection on the menu, food wonderfully prepared, service attentive with a waiter who knew the menu, and it was great to be able to converse with my dining partner without the distraction and absolute irritation of loud music that has become so commonplace in many restaurants. "We had been meaning to try this place since it opened, and overall I would say good with room for improvement. We arrived at 8:15 on a Friday night; the bar and dining room were packed and the noise level was, well, to use Open Table's terminology, extremely energetic. It was easier to hear the group at the next table than my friend seated next to me. Service was typical for an American restaurant--friendly, helpful, and too intrusive. I was impressed with the wine list, and found a nice, moderately priced Malbec. The scallop appetizer was tender and tasty, the empanadas were OK, the lamb chops were excellent, but the seafood ravioli was a disaster--way, way too salty. We may return, but not too soon."

"My husband and I went there for our four year anniversary and loved it! I have been to Argentina before, but he had not. The food was comparable. The empanadas were wonderful and the Filet Mignon was outstanding! Everything was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious! We had a wonderful time--the service was just wonderful as well!"

"We found this neighborhood gem thanks to Open Table. So happy we did! Argentinian and Italian blend - what a great idea. The waitress was great and spilt out salad for us. We each tried a fish - both great ideas. - the flounder and the cobia. The service was outstanding. We were not rushed and the place continued to fill up as we dined. As we watched people try the dessert we had to try one even thought we were full. Try the gelato sampler - it was great - since we were full thought we couldn't finish it. We will definite be back."

"My husband and I really enjoyed the wine and food. Empanada appetizers were delicious with a light, flaky crust. My 5-cheese angus ravioli (pasta made from scratch by the chef) was DELICIOUS! My husband loved the lamb dinner he had... it wasn't too crowded or noisy but wasn't a quiet/stuffy atmosphere either. There were so many other items on the menu that I wanted to try (and I'm somewhat picky...) that we will definitely be going back. I also want to take my 75-yr old Italian mother because I think she'll love it too. :)"

"while the menu looked interesting and exciting, all the food we ordered were bland and completely unexciting. the empanadas were bland and completely not authentic - it just had a lot of tasteless cheese in it and no seasoning. the grilled romaine salad was slightly better but the salad was too soggy to be enjoyable to eat as a salad. the rib eye steak was ok and the special (pasta with scallops and sun dried tomato) was ok (the pasta was cooked just right) and the sauce was passable."

"my first visit. 4 of us. 7pm on a Friday night. The menu suggests Italian and Argentinian fare, interesting. Both couples split apps, salad and entre. and the food came out on separate plates, nicely presented. I ordered lamb chops and they were done perfectly medium rare, with sweet potato mash and broccolini that was perfectly done. Waiter knew what he was doing. Interesting and a bit different menu, well done. And the noise level was tolerable into the evening so we even had a chance to talk with each other without shouting. I will return."

"We took my grandmother for her 85th birthday. We all had an appetizer, entree, and dessert and it was amazing. Our service from Ben was fantastic. He knew the menu and specials very well and helped us make our decisons. To top off the night, Chef Alfio came out to wish my Grandma Happy Birthday. Great restaurant, we will be returning soon and often!"

"This restaurant is an absolutely perfect addition to cincinnati. The food is amazing (best I have had in town) and the staff is great. Alfio and Scott (owners) stopped by personally to make sure the experience was perfect and took the time to talk to every table. This is now our new favorite dining spot."

"Alfio's is an ok place to eat, but it's nothing special. Unfortunately for them, there are a lot of really terrific restaurants that have opened recently around town which are more appealing in both location and menu options. I ordered the "homemade" ravioli which I had hoped would be light and fresh, but instead was thick, a bit chewy and covered with a bland tomato sauce. Our server was attentive and helpful."

"Alfio's has a very good selection of Italian and Argentinian dishes and very nice atmosphere. The waitress explained that the chef's (Alfio's) parents are Sicilian and he grew up in Argentina, and the cuisine reflects those influences. I had a delicious dish of sea scallops (perfectly cooked) with mushrooms and linguini and my husband had the skirt steak. We had the empanadas as an appetizer and all of the food was excellent. We would definitely return."

"Had a wonderful meal starting with bruschetta and empanadas. Three of us had the butternut squash soup that was delicious and rich. Entrees ranged from 5 cheese ravioli with angus beef, scallops with mushrooms, stuffed pork tenderloin, and a special rib eye steak dinner. All were shared with one another and the compliments were flowing. Our server was genuinely enthusiastic, but not overly gushing (she was sincere). Gave service only 4 stars because it took quite a long time to clear dishes and to deliver our checks. We will return - wishing this restaurant lots of success!"

"This was the second time I have dined at this restaurant and it keeps getting better each time. The first time I had the lobster parm which was good but there are many other items which are better. This time I had the angus raviolli which was fantastic. It is noisy but you should expect that for an Italian restaurant. I can not say enough good things about the food and service we have experienced at this restaurant."

"Extremely good Italian food with a nod to Argentina. We had the Empanadas, the Short-Rib Ravioli, and the Lamb Chops with Mashed Sweet Potatoes-all of which were excellent. Unfortunately, the space (located on Hyde Park Square) has seen several restaurant incarnations over the years and probably for good reason, as it is a long and narrow space with no windows except by the bar up front. We went there on a cold winter evening and every time the front door was opened, you could feel the chill funneled back to the tables just past the bar. It was also very loud with little fabric or decor to absorb the sound. That being said, the service was so friendly and the food so good, we would definitely go back again."

"What a great find! The menu was inventive and had a wide variety of Italian and Argentinan (grilled meats)options. The food was superb. The wine list was extensive and very reasonable for restaurants these days. The cost for the menu options were very reasonable for the excellent quality. The service was attentive and knowledgable but not over bearing. We had a credit card issue that was quickly and professionally handled. We intend to return on a regular basis to sample the many options that one visit did not allow us to try."

"Well I really really wanted to like this place- I had looked at the menu online and it looked fabulous, but unfortunately it wasn't. The spinach empanadaa were OK. My husband got the special which was lamb stuffed ravioli- the ravioli was really thick, tough and much too al dente. Wine list was pretty good. Service was outstanding- the waitress let me try the wine before I picked a glass. And as I debated between the scallop appetizer and the entree I mentioned I wasn't interested in the entree because I don't like linguine and she said I could have the scallops ver polenta orveggies. So they were acconodationg which is very nice. The desserts- the chocolate bonbon was like jello pudding on buttescotchy pretzel thingie-not good"

"The service was outstanding. The food was amazing. We all had something different off the menu and enjoyed it greatly. The featured empanada of the night was a hit with every one. The wine list is not overly expansive but offers a great verity of thoughtfully sellected wines. The noise level at times was very loud. May not be a great option is you want to have a serious conversation. I will definately be going back."

"My boyfriend and I are big fans of "diamond in the ruff" or "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants and this was definitely a gem, even on Valentines Day!! The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was amazing! Definitely suited for a cute date night with your lover, a place to hold a business meeting, or even meet your partners parents! This restaurant has succeeded in making the list of my favorite restaurants. I cannot wait to go back!"

"We thought the food was good. The manager and hostess were not very accomodating on seating arrangements, even though there were plenty of tables avaialable for at least an hour. We were sat in the middle of the room were all the staff kept passing by. The experience was OK, but will not recommend to friends for a special occassion."

"A non-descript, but tasteful remodel leaves you to focus on the food and service and both are excellent. Empanada Trio, Grilled romaine, Stuffed Pork Tenderloin, and Angus Ravioli all were terrific, and all came out at the perfect time and temperature. Our server was on top of everything without being overbearing and I liked the fact that he talked up our local brewers a bit when I ordered a beer (Mt. Carmel.) My only nit is that there really isn't anywhere that's a little quieter/cozier for a date. Still, I'm sure I'll be back"
