"It was my wife's birthday. JD Hoyt's made it memorable for all the right reasons. The service was prompt. Our waitress was extremely personable, professional and fun. The food exceeded my expectations. Dessert was wonderful. At the end the bill was reasonable. We will be coming back and we won't wait for a special occasion."

"We have been here before for dinner and enjoyed several dishes including the pork chops. Usually the chops are juicy and delicious! Unfortunately the Mothers Day Brunch just didn't live up to our prior experience. Unlike at dinner, the pork chops were thin and very dry. They were accompanied by cold eggs and warm (albeit tasty) cajun hash browns. It was disappointing to say the least at a place we normally like. ."

"JD Hoyt's once again provided a great treat for our family on Mother's Day. The food as always was tasty and plentiful. The most pleasant surprise was the quick service we received. Our waitress greeted us just a few minutes after we were seated and we were eating within 15 minutes. She continued to serve us well by refilling anything that was running low. This was a most pleasant experience. The owner came to our table and greeted us and was very friendly. We will go back"

"I have always been apprehensive to try JD Hoyts since it is right next to Deja Vu:) I heard it is was good, so I decided to try it. I WAS SO HAPPY THAT I DID!! I love it and I will be a regular!! Our server was fantastic,the food was amazing and the prices were not to bad."

"The host and waitress were extremely welcoming, friendly, and very helpful making menu choices. Food and drinks came out in a very timely manner and our drinks were never empty. The steaks were cooked perfectly and very good. My sweet potato was about the size of my head, while my husband got a very generously sized portion of hashbrowns. The raspberry mojito was crisp, refreshing, and delicious and my husband enjoyed the extensive scotch selection. We ate at 5:30 and it was quiet but it looked like it was getting pretty full when we left and I can see the volume level rising a bit. Will definitely return in the future!"

"and they loved it! We were a group of 7 and we sat in the cozy, back room. We all shared the Buddy Bowl for starters and it was all gone in one passing. A big hit. The steaks were all done to perfection and again, there were clean plates all around. Best hash browns in town. We even tried the signature grilled bananas with ice cream and that too was gone in 60 seconds.

"Great, attentive service, great entrees. Cajun sirloin tip appetizer was a nice way to kick off the meal. Blackened catfish was perfectly prepared and very flavorful. My wife's red snapper was savory and a huge portion. The two filet mignon our friends ordered were perfectly cooked. Megan did a nice job serving us without being cloying, and she knew her stuff."

"The calamari was overly breaded and oily...we were very disappointed and when the waitress cleared away (almost the whole plate of it) she never even inquired if we were happy with it. The strawberry shortcake - the "cake" part was terrible! - stale texture, dry, not flavorful...again, I'm not that hard to please, but when my date and I are agreeing that things taste bad (and we're saying the cheap yellow disk sponge cake would beat this hands-down...that speaks volumes.)

"We had an 8:15 reservation and arrived early 7:55. Table was not ready yet, no problem we weren't expecting it to be,the hostess checked us in so we went to the bar to have a drink. At 8:30 I went to check with the hostess since we had watched 3 other couples be seated. She said she was sorry and seated us promptly, now that we were seated we waited till 8:50 at which time we waved down a waitress. Apparently the hostess had not assigned a waitress to the table. So much for Griping, I wasn't going to let it ruin our evening. From this point on everything was fabulous our waitress Janae was very attentive, the food was superb. "Took my family there for our wedding anniversary dinner. Place was very busy and it was pleasant to sit amongst the hubbub and bustle.
The food overall was very good, especially the cornbread and the steaks that were ordered. As this was my first time there it was suggested to me that I order the pork chops. I did so and they were OK, not great but OK. Overcooked and a little tough, dry not juicy.
The only place where the restaurant really fell down was in the time it took to get our food. By the time the food arrived we had been at the restaurant for well over an hour. No one was really hungry anymore after having eaten two sets of appetizers so we ended up taking most of it home."

"I have always enjoyed JD Hoyt's for dinner. I usually skip brunches because they are often mediocre or worse, no matter the quality of the restaurant. The brunch at Hoyt's is actually better than their dinner. The portion size is enormous. The grilled meat served is equal to their regular menu. The friendly service and overall atmosphere is even better. It was a memorable meal and I did not want to leave. Already planning when to go back!"

"I chose J.D. Hoyt's for my hubby's b-day based on reviews and that it was a little special without being overly dressy and formal. It fit that bill, but several aspects fell short.
1) I knew it's in the warehouse district so I didn't expect swanky surroundings, but I wasn't quite prepared that it's attached to a huge showgirl building! This kind of dampened the experience right away.
2) The ambiance inside was pretty nice, though a little on the time-worn side. Quite noisy, though.
3) For being a supper club with good reviews, pretty high prices, and claiming to have "the best steak in the cities", it really fell short. Hubby's steak had poor texture & not tasty with way undercooked veggies. My 'famous' pork chops were just av"

"JD Hoyt's is a place that NEVER disappoints! The waitstaff is always fantastic and the owner (Pat) always makes you feel as though you're the most important people in the restaraunt. Food is awesome, (make sure you bring your appetite - they don't skimp on portions!) and the atmosphere is perfect. Whether you're out for a special night with your significant other, going out as a group, or entertaining guests - this is a place you don't want to miss!"

"We were a group of 9, and were placed at one long table so conversation was very difficult given the noise level. Some enjoyed their meals, others did not...which is probably typical with a large group. Overall our biggest concern was the service. It was much slower than we would have expected especially on a night that did not appear to be that busy. This was a business event, so I would not recommend JD Hoyt's nor would I return myself. There are other restaurants in town that provide a more reliable experience from the food to the service."

"We have loved Hoyt's for years and rediscovered it when looking for a good place for brunch. This was our second time in less than a month that we have met there with friends who have never been, so we are happy to have introduced them to such a great place. My husband even remembers back to before the remodel when the tables on the side wall were slanted so you had to be careful that things wouldn't fall off. They have been there for years and knows what works."

"Went there for date night with the wife and myself. Overall, I really like the place. It smells amazing and the food was fantastic (Buddy bowl was great, pork chop was awesome... ribs were 'meh, but I'm a picky rib person, and the Lobster Risotto was extremely good).
My only complaint (if you can call it that?) was that the seating was a bit odd for 2 people. We were given a table that way very small and in a high traffic area. We asked to move to a booth, they obliged us, but they were mostly full so we sat down by the hostess and the front doors... not a great seat, but we did request a move, so eh. Our service was good and we were really happy with the food (wife included). We'll definitely be back!"

"I like JD Hoyt's, reminds me of old school Minneapolis dining. No better pork chop any where. Good mix on the menu and the ala carte options lets you make the meal your own. I could eat the "Buddy Bowl" for a main course. Need to remember to get back there more often."
