Welcome to Sushi of Gari Tribeca!
Sushi of Gari has been widely known by New Yorkers in almost 2 decades, and we are pleased to introduce you that this location is our 4th restaurant in the business district of Tribeca.
Masatoshi Sugio, a founder and an executive chef, has thrown a variety of his signature and creativity to New York Sushi-fan, and Sushi of Gari responds to ongoing demands from those who are accustomed to Japanese cuisine.
Needless to say, you will enjoy our tastes and atmosphere.
Please note: sushi bar reservations are not available online. Please contact the restaurant directly.
"This small space consists of small tables set extremely close together and is almost communal. The space is more for for a grab n go cafeteria and not a fairly expensive Japanese restaurant on a remote comer in TriBeCa. The mostly trendy clientele didn't seem to be bothered by the tight uncomfortable space, but they were whispering over their dinner , not to be heard. There is no background music or noise, so you can hear the chewing and soup sipping of your closure table mates. In addition, even with a reservation they proceeded seat us at the door of the bar concession kitchen, only to bump me more than a few times. With so many excellent Japanese restaurants in Manhattan,I see no reason to eat at this restaurant."

"Eating upstairs at the Sushi bar was like a secret oasis. We had the Omakase and had a chef just for the 2 of us creating a heavenly meal. He kept creating until we said stop. They even had a list of what we enjoyed and didn't like last time we dined at another location. What a treat. Very expensive!"

"Had the omakase chef selection. Nice presentation, but not worth the 120 per person. I was in Costa Rica two weeks before and went to Koji in Santa Teresa. Far better; surprisingly so."

"this restaurant is WAYYYYYYY too small and crowded. it is less crowded upstairs but you can only sit at the bar if you order omakase which is like $150pp. better off going to the gari on 42nd because it is WAY roomier. who wants to pay $100+ for sushi if you have no space to enjoy it in??? you could practically smell the breath of everyone around you in this sardine box of a restaurant. foodwise is good though."

"My friends and I arrived early for our reservation and our table was not yet available. The fortunate part of this story is that we were offered sushi bar seats and our night of Omakase could not have been any better!!!! Great food, great wine, great atmosphere and a kick A** sushi chef. I will leave the choices of what I eat up to him every time. Absolutely the best!!!"

"The quality of the food was amazing, but I was so disappointed by the ambiance of the restaurant, it took away from the experience and made me feel like we were over-paying. The best way I could describe the look and feel was like a Japanese Denny's. There was navy blue polka dot carpeting, white walls and cheap wood paneling. And despite the bustle of TriBeCa, all the windows were covered, so there was nothing to look at beside the drab restaurant. Even though it was made clear in the reservation process the sushi bar is not able to be reserved, we were told we needed to be in and out in an hour if we wanted to sit in the sushi bar, to make room for other expected guests."

"We did the Omakase fixed price $100 menu. The dishes were unique. The atmosphere of the restaurant very boring, it was like a cramped cafeteria. The prices didn't fit with the ambiance. I wouldn't get the Omakase again, too many "eh" pieces."

"If you go with the omakase like we did, you will not be disappointed. Though there is definitely more "cooking" in the omakase ( a sear here, a char there ), the dishes were creative and intricate and very, very delicious!"
