"The food was very tasty, the kind that "normal" people enjoy. I would call it meat and potatoes food or country food. The restaurant has a nice scenic view atop a big hill looking down. The best views are probably at sunset and at night. The interior is very interesting. It has an old mine look and slightly country feel. Drinks are served in glass jars. The prices are a little more expensive than a Chili's type restaurant but still reasonable. This a great place for special occasions. I took my mother there for Mother's Day and she loved it. It would be great place to bring a date. They do have a banquet area for wedding receptions and parties."

"This place has an amazing view of orange county, a great salad bar, and delicious food. All without suffocating your wallet. I went here with my girlfriend and it was a great spot. I highly recommend this place for anyone who hasn't been here already and if you have then you don't need me to tell you. Keep the cheese bread coming!"

"My wife and I got a baby sitter, and were looking forward to a nice quiet dinner at OC Mining Co. The food was good, and service was satisfactory. However, I felt rushed. Our main course arrived before either my wife or I got half way through our salads. I expected more for what it cost.
HOT TIP: OCMC has a great salad/soup bar that comes with most entrees. Get the salad bar, and eat that, then when you are ready, order your entrees."

"It was a new place we tried. The food was ok but was expecting alittle more flavor our garlic mash potatoes had little or no garlic... The cheese bread was ok....just really soggy with butter and cheese speard you guys put on there and the bread was not toasted at all. The rib eye steak I got had way to much fat on it and had no flavor to it. All in all our dinner was nice and the view was amazing, but just wish the food had alittle more flavor on it."

"Beautiful view - better than most 5-star restaurants in my opinion - and close to home without exorbitant prices like other restaurants with this sort of set-up would have. The wait staff is very helpful and courteous, they are there when you need but don't hover. I love the seafood since I'm not much of a steak-eater, but my date and friends have all enjoyed theirs! I did try the ribs which were perfectly cooked, and not too fatty or saucy, but I have to go with the shrimp scampi/scallop combo, the sauce with their mashed potatoes is DELICIOUS! Actually, everything we've tried has been amazing!
I'm also a huge fan of their Miner's Margaritas and their happy hour - they have several unique cocktails that change it up from typical spots!"

It has a wonderful salad bar and my filet was almost perfect until they tried to pass canned mushrooms off as grilled mushrooms for my topping! Also the parking for handicapped is obscure and not easy to find on the trek up the hill. I'd go back again though."

"Celebrating my husbands birthday, over all the night was fun. Service was a bit slow out on the patio for drinks and it took forever to get a drink that a friend had bought for my husband in celebration of his BDay, in fact we had to ask for it. The patio waitress lost one of the credit cards we gave her to pay for a portion of the drinks, it took 20 minutes for her to find it and twice she came and asked if we were sure we gave it to her!! One of our medium steaks came very rare, we sent it back and they cooked it all the way through, so we asked to have it removed from the bill which it was. Service was just off!"

"The Sunday Brunch is a little old fashioned and the choices are a bit dated. (lox & bagels, rice pilaf, etc). The serving trays are too large and the food gets crusty in it if it isn't one of the groups' favorites, such as the Mexican items. Surprisingly, no carved turkey and no Chinese items. There is no tablecloth and no extra napkins when you sit down so your cutlery has to be placed on the table. I never like that. They do have extra napkins in the buffet line but they are hard to find even though they are at the beginning of the line."

"We had a very good experience, except for the baby next to us. A place like this is not for babys or small children. People with small children & babies should either get a babysitter or go where their noise will not bother the other patrons. Most people who are there don't want to put up with their noise, exspecially when your spending that much money. It ruins the dining experience. I learned from experience; you don't take small children or babies to high-end dining places. You need to think about the others that may be there."

"It was our first time coming here, and for everything i've heard about this place, it does not live up to the expectations. While the atmosphere is fitting for the name (dark just like a mine) it makes it very hard to see anything in the restaurant. I'm still not sure that the salad bar can be called a salad bar, as there wasn't much to choose from to make a salad. The pastas salads onthe other side of the salad bar were all the same; soggy. The cheese bread served at the table had SO much cheese on it that it was sticking to the cloth napkin. My husband got the lobster and filet for dinner. It wasn't anything special, and the lobster was tough. I got the salmon with lemon butter. Let me just say they was so much butter on it! Yuck!"

I want to begin by saying this is a really great place to eat for a romantic dinner. The food is great as always. I've been there 5 times. The service was much better the last four times i visited your restaurant i hate to say. The server was really happy toserve us, but all is well. The reason why i chose Orange County Mining Co was because i was reuniting with a couple friends. Well everything was well and we were halfway through our dinner, when I noticed a "cricket" on our table. I didn't freak out or made a big deal, i simply finished my water and placed the glass over it. I am a manager at a Wendy's restaurant and if not mistaken thats a poor pest control.please dont make me not come back."

"We have always enjoyed this restaurant for its view of OC and the fast friendly service we receive. The food is always cooked to our specifications and the Salad / Soup Bar is a great way to get the evening started, loaded with excellent choices and always fresh ingredients. The prices are reasonable and wont break the bank like the neighbors up the hill. We have and continue to recommend OCMC to all our friends and family. We look forward to dining at this excellent restaurant in future days to come."

"Started with Cocktails and appetizers on the outside patio with a gorgeous sweeping view of the sunset that has to be the best viewing spot in all of Orange County! It was so incredible we hardly wanted to go inside for dinner. Yet, we were so glad we did because EVERY table and booth is situated along a long wall of glass so that you can still see this incredible view from your dining table. Our party had the Salmon and Lobster/Fillet Mignon Dinners. ALL dinners offer all you can eat Salad/Soup Bar which was a meal in itself. The service was so warm and friendly. Thanks to Jennifer and Michelle which were amazing servers. We were also impressed with the Manager Brian who came over a few times to check on us as well! Just impeccable"

"This has been a favorite of my wife and I for over thirty years. As suggested in its name, the restaurant is designed in the theme of an old mine, and the lighting is perfectly subdued inside. Spectacular view of Orange, Anaheim and Fullerton. The atmosphere is very romantic and its a popular spot during prom season. The food is great, from its grilled steaks to its wonderful salad bar. Oh, and the Miner's Mud Pie! They also have a very good selection on their wine list. Can't wait to return!"

"We went for the Sunday Brunch and had a wonderful time. The views are fantastic and we could see for miles! My family was amazed by the huge assortment of food choices and only wished we could have eaten more. The food was great. Our waiter was very attentive & cheerful and made us feel very welcome. He kept our table well supplied with champagne, water and coffee and was quick at clearing plates. We had a window table (as requested) and enjoyed the view and the afternoon."

"It was nice however I requested a window table as it was our anniversary and didn't get one even though there were many empty window tables available. Also my husband wanted steak and lobster, before making the reservation I made sure steak and lobster was a menu option however it was not available that nite, I felt so bad that it was a very special nite and my husband couldn't even have what he wanted for dinner. I was extremely disappointed but my husband said he had a nice time..."

"The salad bar is either from a bag or a can. Entree portions are good size. Ribeye was cooked perfect. Seasoning needs some work. Dinner for two with a beer and tip cost $70+. The view and friendly server Holly were the only notable highlights of the evening."

"Very slow service until a waitress had pity on us and took over our table. She was great. Unfortunately, we were there for 45 minutes before she was assigned our table. Food was unimaginative and overcooked. We had some people with food allergies in our party. They don't make some of the food inhouse so could not tell us the ingredients. Very little for someone gluten free or with common food allergies. We won't be going back."

"We eat here often. Salad/soup bar outstanding. Ate here on Saturday, February 9, at 4:30 pm, party of 5, and had poor service (they said someone didn't show up for work but they weren't that crowded so not buying the excuse. Had to ask for drink refills and actually gave another tables drinks to us (tried to give us a beer we didn't order with the refills). Prime rib and steak served hot, but the mashed potatoes for all of our meals were very cold. They brought out replacement potatoes about ten minutes after sending them back. By then we had cold meat. Alll we got was a half hearty "sorry" from the waiter. No offer of changing out the meat to get us a hot meal."

"Never heard of this restaurant until it was recommended by my boss. This clearly was the inspiration for my favorite restaurant "Claim Jumper." While Claim Jumper has become commercialized and lost some of its allure, Orange County Mining Co seems to retain the classic menu that I originally loved. Top it off with an amazing view of Orange County and this is an excellent establishment. My date and I could even see fireworks off at Newport! Superb service, quiet, a little pricey, but reasonable prices considering it includes an amazing view, full soup & salad bar and complementary garlic cheese toast (mmm!) The only thing missing is Claim Jumper's over-the-top desserts... Otherwise highly recommended."

"Ok. Don't know if I'm a qualified foodie, but I'm here to tell you, the night before last, I had the best top sirloin in my life at this place. Salad bar is huge, and it's included with the meal. After dinner, we went for a cocktail at the bar. The bartender (Mark ?) was on us right away. The tv behind the bar is framed in whiskey.I counted 36. He asked if I wanted to try one or try them all. Funny guy. I let him choose for me. He came back with a sazerac cocktail from the drink menu. Never heard of it. Completely impressed. Just an all around great experience. We will be back for more."
