"Our recent meal at Providence was excellent in every respect!
We started with craft cocktails in the attached bar, then shared the tuna tacos appetizer. My wife had a salad and the braised short ribs; I had a cup of soup and the meatloaf. Everything was delicious. In particular, the meatloaf defied description. It was unlike any I have tried before. If you are hesitant to try something like meatloaf in a fine restaurant (as I was), do yourself a favor and make an exception here. I know we will return soon, and it will difficult for me to order anything else.
Service was also great, from the funny bartender to the friendly hostess to our knowledgeable waiter, who explained the menu and made terrific recommendations. Two thumbs up!"

"More people should give this restaurant a try. It is in the historic President Hotel right next to the Drum Room lounge. Kind of pricey but attractive space and interesting menu items. Some good cocktail choices, as well."

"The food was good, but it is what you expect for the price. The cocktails were creative and tasty. They were out of quite a few menu items which seemed strange but it was a Sunday night. Loved the decor/ambience, lighting was perfect and the jazz music they played was nice."

"We were SO disappointed. They did not have major entrees on the menu available. Stated they were out of several things (like 6!) since a busy night the night before. No excuse.
The food we did order was terrible. Scallops chewy, potatoes still hard, $27 for this!
Would NOT recommend. Sorry! Was hoping this would be a good one."

"The newly reopened Providence restaurant (in the Hotel President) has a history to uphold. The menu is American with a twist. The Boulevard battered shrimp dish was delicious, as well as the scallops and the meatloaf that my dining companions enjoyed. First time have a coffee ale produced by Boulevard, and it was delicious. Pricing was moderate range. A very enjoyable meal for anyone going to an event at the Sprint arena."

"This was a very bad experience. We expected more from the reviews we had read. Our server was terrible timid and seemed unsure of everything. I ordered a martini with olives, she came back and asked what I ordered and when she returned with my drink.. No olives..back again..no espresso .. Odd for a nice restaurant. No steak sauce..weird. My prime steak was tough and full of gristle.. We had to ask every time we wanted anything..as far as I am concerned it was a waste of Money and we should have been refunded or competed for another meal."

"Terrible experience for dinner. So much noise we had to holler to talk to our friends during dinner. Food was good but how can one enjoy with loud noise. Service was almost nonexistent. Inexperienced people all around.Only excuse was it's a Saturday nite crowd. Won't be back or suggest to anyone."

"We had been wanting to try Providence for awhile, and the perfect occasion arose they along with many other restaurants participated in the JJs fundraiser. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, portions were a little small but about on par for this type of restaurant, and our cocktails were both extremely tasty.I also loved that there was a vegetarian dinner option on the menu! The best thing, however, was that the general manager introduced himself and invited us back as we were walking out the door. That kind of service goes a long way in our book, and we will definitely be back for our next nice dinner out!"

"Service very spotty. We were the only ones in the restaurant and yet no water refills or more coffee. Skip the shrimp bruschettas but the lobster fondue was tasty. Carrot cake dessert was awful. They need to go across the street to Bristol who has the best in the city."

"I think Providence could give Bristol some tasty competition. It was a business dinner. Went back to see if they could duplicate my first dinner experience there after a great review in the Star, and the scallops proved that they could. Have also been to the bar for Happy Hour, which was very tasty. So we're 3-3 there. The valet parking was complimentary so, even during the Big 12 tournament, it was easy to get in and out."

"I was very pleased with the food and service at Providence. The alcoholic beverages were a tad pricey, but overall I was very satisfied. I recommend Tom as a server and the BBQ Pork Belly appetizer."

"Our server and all other staff were friendly and efficient. The food, however, was a disappointment . A few items did not arrive as described on the menu and only one (out of six) dinner was delicious. The other five meals were edible, but not great. One appetizer was good and one was not. The dessert received mixed reviews."

"I predict failure at this venerable location. The classic hotel and the "old" bar/restaurant could do much better. The idea must have been good to do a menu like this but the delivery, the table settings, and the food flavors are mediocre at best. Granted that the flavors of the soup d'jour were delightful, I can get soup that good in a box at the local mart. The entrees were presented in a "here you go" fashion and laid not so gently on the vinyl table top. Of course when we (part 0f four) were seated were were given a table in the corner presumably to make us feel not so isolated in the lack of crowd. I am not sure the seating wasn't more to "look" like a crowd was there for the next visitors. No more space..Food not good."

"Considering how few people were in the restaurant, I was a little disappointed in the service, or I should say in one of the servers. The one who actually brought our meals was very nice. But the food was good and the new look is quite nice. A great place for lunches downtown."

"We're so happy with the remodel of the restaurant in the Hilton President! It's so much warmer and makes a great place to eat prior to a performance in the Crossroads, Downtown or Power & Light area. The food was excellent and the service friendly and attentive. We shall return!"

"I was very excited to take a group of friends to Providence Saturday evening to try a new place. We were seated in a private room which was nice. We had appetizers (which they had run out of bison carpaccio) and we had to change one of our appetizers. Then two of the seven individuals in the group ordered the surf and turf. After over 30 minutes we were told they were out of filets (we had a 7:45 reservation). We were given the option of a ribeye instead. When served our food one of the ribeyes was ordered medium rare and was served at a medium well to almost done temperature and was sent back. At that point we had waited over an hour and a half for food and the individual chose not to have any additional food cooked for them. Disappointed."

"Loved the decor. Our hand crafted cocktails in the Drum Room were a nice start to our evening. Our appetizers of crab cakes and the bison carpaccio were delicious. I can also recommend the lamb, pork chop and bison with poached egg.
Friendly staff, lovely evening."

"Our whole experience was rather luck luster considering we went for Valentine's Day. It was our first time here, and maybe our expectations were set high, but we left disappointed. While the service was good, the food was subpar. My date's filet was not cooked properly, and I was not impressed with the chicken ravioli I ordered. The potato perogies we had as an appetizer were the best part of the night. It was nice that they gave us a complimentary rose at the end of the meal."
