“Socarrat” is that delectable, scrumptious crust that forms at the bottom of the paella pan when the liquid is rendered and the rice has reached its peak of succulence. In other words, “socarrat” is the result of paella cooked to perfection. To us, we have come to think of “Socarrat” as a standard of perfection to aim for in everything we do.

"Paellas were excellent. We had the carne and the veggie paellas and both were delicious and suitably crusty. I appreciated our server's help to figure out the appropriate quantities to order for our group of six."

"Been here thrice, twice for dinner and once for weekend brunch with a child. Service is slipping, waiters seem rushed and stressed but the food is good. Had the seafood and meat paella on different occasions, seafood was much better. Good wine list and cocktails. Overall a good neighborhood addition"

"This place can be both romantic and good for groups depending on where you're seated. The food is just GREAT. All their tapas are just delicious and the paella is one of the best in the city, if not, THE best int the city. Vibrant atmosphere, fun times."

"really terrific place - staff welcoming from the first confirmation phone call to going out the door. cocktails are fun and inventive; wine list is varied enough. tapas is terrific (excellent croquettes, fried artichokes, tomato bread and serrrano ham). waiter was great - made sure our paella order went in early so we did not have to wait too long. paellas have to be ordered in 2's. downstairs is extremely loud; upstairs is a delightful haven. outside seating for nice weather."

"A wonderful experience! Socarrat was warm and friendly up on arrival until departure. Our server was particularly attentive and the food (both small plates and paellas) were fantastic. Despite being a challenging group (our headcount kept changing...growing, actually!), Socarrat management was beyond accommodating. Excellent space and ambiance, flawless service, delicious and unique food and plenty of good wine and cocktails!"

"Although our paella was quite tasty, I was a bit disappointed in the quality of the tapas and the practice of slathering the dishes in mayonnaise was slightly off-putting. Several tasty wine options by the glass, but the sangria was unremarkable. The room was comfortable and service was friendly and efficient. I wouldn't recommend this as a destination dining experience, but it's good for a meal when in that neighborhood."

"Socarrat has a diverse selection of paella. The combinations of ingredient choices seemed like they would be delightful together. I thought the overall taste was a bit bland, though. Not over or undercooked as can often happen with the rice.
The service was wonderful. The staff were attentive and drinks were delivered quickly. Our entrees took longer to arrive than the stated 25 minute wait time after ordering.
Definitely not the most authentic Spanish food I've ever had, but a good option overall."

"I am a fiend for paella. What I discovered is that Socarrat's specialties are really it's tapas. The paella was good but not quite ready for paella foodies. But what really won me over was the Spanish waiter (and I mean Spanish, complete with rolling r's). What a pleasure to be served by Spaniards who are extremely proud of their cuisine. Kind of like how the old world Italian restaurants used to be like ...."
