"I could tell you how wonderful the dining experience was, but I recommend you see for yourself. A little jem on the coal harbour sea wall . The food, the setting, the service...all good. An unexpected extra was a belly dancer who got the whole restaurants attention, which included some audience participation for those who dared. Fun,fun night with great food."

"We ate at Sol Sun Belt Cookery during dine-out Vancouver 2013. The $28 and $38 menu options were fantastic. It was very difficult to decide which dishes to try because they all sounded so good. For appetizers, we finally decided on the goat-cheese-poached-pear salad, the pan-seared scallops & prawns, and sol's antipasti. For our main courses, we chose the sable fish and the 48-day aged sirloin. For dessert, we tried all 3 options: merlot poached pear, chocolate brownie, and the cheesecake. Everything tasted really good.
Every Friday and Saturday night, a belly-dancing exhibition happens at 8:30pm. This is really fun because the attractive dancer invites individual diners to dance with her.
It was a good time. We will be back."

"I love going to Sol because I know that not only is their food 100% delicious, I can taste that they make it with the absolute freshest ingredients. Chef Abdel's cooking is fantastic! I try to eat gluten free but was eying a dish that contained bread but when I mentioned it to the server he said the chef would be happy to adapt the dish to be gluten free. It has a wonderful atmosphere, trendy yet relaxed and unassuming. I would be comfortable there whether with my kids or on a romantic date with just the two of us. Service was fast, friendly and very helpful."

"We came to Sol Sun belt cookery for Mother's day and were very happy to have a table right away and have such attentive service. We especially enjoyed the live jazz music during our delicious and original brunch. It was so nice to have something different than plain bacon and eggs, our meals were all fantastic and we enjoyed every bite."

"Our food was awesome and the desserts were phenomenal. The 5 of us that went agreed that our server was incredibly knowledgable and passionate about the wine and food but when it came to his personality outside of that he didn't tailor himself professionally to us. My personal thought was that he was trained to not have fun with customers and keep it professional in a stoic manner which we didn't like. It's too bad as we could all tell he had it in him. For such a nice restaurant, the service could be way better in terms of the service matching the client."

"I purposely went here for the view as was bringing an out of town guest, plus saw very good reviews. Service was good, but the food was a bit disappointing. Fantastic presentation, but the flavours were mediocre. Portion size was not great considering the price...if taste was excellent would have been ok, but it wasn't."

"Wonderfully delicious food, served by a great team of friendly and polite staff. It's really a neat little place tucked nicely in a quiet and classy neighbourhood.
The items on the menu are limited, but that's what makes everything taste so good! I think it's a wonderful idea to have the kitchen focus on perfecting a few dishes, rather than serving an entire menu full of mediocre food. Great concept, Sol!
I'd come here for my anniversary dinner again, without a doubt. I will think of Sol now whenever a romantic occasion comes up."

"The Mororrocan sausages were Outstanding! The flavors of the hanger steak & halibut were very very good, definitely the spices of the Middle East was present. We sat at a table that was right up against the lovely garden pool. It almost felt like you were floating. The view of Coal harbor, the yachts, the seawall is reminiscent of Newport Beach or San Diego. It happen the power went out that night (Apr 13/13) & they handled it with class. I saw the chefs cooking in the dark with their Iphones! Wonderful job!"

"The seafood dishes were cooked to perfection! The beef short ribs were slightly on the drier side for the typical fall off the bone texture, but the flavours were still very good. I liked the soft marscapone cheesecake. The brownie was a good size but that night it was a bit dry. Overall, the combination of ingredients in each dish created spectacular flavours. Our server was professional, friendly, informative and spot on with his recommendations. The view from the heated patio was wonderful. We will be back to enjoy this amazing restaurant."

"Overall a good dinner. Service a bit slow, only one server for about 6 tables on a slow Tuesday. She seemed a little inexperienced, but accommodating and pleasant. Food was good with interesting menu items. The short ribs were delicious, and the antipasto starter quite creative and filling. On warmer days the patio with the view would be amazing. As it was, with all the large windows, the view is great. We would return."

"First time at Sol, overall a good experience! We ordered small dishes, antipasto and mushroom bruchetta, with main, lamb shank and duck confit. Stars of the evening were the delicious small dishes! Mushroom bruchetta was absolutely mouthful of flavours - we love mushroom. The antipasto was really good too, especially the cured pork - very flavourful, which the chef said was made in house. At this point we were 80% full already. The mains were nicely presented, though I've to admit the starters really stole the thunders of the evening. That said, I do want to try their sablefish next time. The Chef came and said hi at the end of the dining - which we really appreciated. Thank you!"

"We had the Bastilla Cigars for a starter which were light and flaky and stuffed full of almonds and chicken. We also had the Eggplant Caviar which was smooth and creamy with a distinct smokey taste. We followed with the sablefish which was cooked perfectly and served with parsnip puree which was deliciously sweet with a hint of vanilla. We also had the lamb tagine which was fall off the bone tender served with couscous that was moist with the drippings and studded with almonds. I ordered the cheesecake which was very cheesy but the texture was whipped and quite light which was an excellent finish to a meal that was so fragrant and filling. Staff greeted us warmly and our server was friendly and competent. Fabulous view of Coal Harbour."

"I have lived downtown for the past 15 years. I have watched this spot change hands two many times. A good friend of mine told me about the new changes and then they told me that the chef was previously the Executive chef to the crown Prince of Morocco.
Anyway I always taught this was a fantastic and gorgeous location. I was very skeptical at first and really underestimated what I about to discover.
The greeting was so sincere and hospitable, the service was excellent and upbeat. The food!! was so amazing that my honey and I can't stop talking about it.

"Came here for a family dinner last week. We had an online coupon I had purchased months before, otherwise I would have found it a little pricey for my taste.
The location is great - right on the water - great view, loved the tables and the artwork.
Overall, everyone thought the food was fantastic. The mushroom bruschetta did not skimp on the mushrooms and their take on cheesecake was delicious.

I made a reservation and had a coupon and they didn't honour my coupon upon arrival as it was valentines day , even though I had specified in my reservation that I had a coupon months ago when I made the resos. It got sorted out and the coupon was honoured. After that everything was great! The food, ambience, belly dancing, and service for the rest of the evening was excellent! I had the duck entree and pear dessert mmm delicious! The food was excellent! I will definitely come back for sure!"

"The Moroccan influenced menu is not large, but has a nice variety and unusual choices. The food we had was very delicious and beautifully presented. If I would have a quibble, then it's that the portions could be bigger. Nice room, great service. Our waiter knowledgeable on every aspect. When we arrived it was still quiet, but once it filled up, the noise level very energetic. A beautiful waterfront spot, which does not rely only on it's great location, but also offers a nice ambience and delicious cuisine."

"My boyfriend and I enjoyed a very nice, quiet dinner at Sol Sun Belt. It was a rainy week night and we were the only ones in the entire restaurant. It's too bad there weren't more people dining that night because we had such a great experience here. Wonderful staff and delicious food! They made sure we were happy with all of our orders and we sure were. We'll definitely check this place again another time as we're sure it's busier on the weekends. The menu may be small but it's got some very interesting choices, fit for foodies!"

"Had the $28 dine out menu. All 3 dishes were top notch quality. All Food portions were a healthy size. Definite moroccan inspirations dishes.
Our table ordered lamb and sablefish. The appetizer was a larger size than expected. We had each of the 3 offerings. The scallops and prawns had an unexpected, tasty twist. The lamb was tender, couscous served with just the right amount of dried fruit, the fish was melt in your mouth. Desserts were ok, was looking forward to a twist on the usual fare so was slightly disappointed.
Must try the mushroom bruschetta!

"Good solid food. Nothing disappointed me, but nothing was AMAZING either. But it's definitely not a bad place to go and try out. Our only problem was that we were pretty much the only table in the restaurant yet our server wasn't very attentive. "It was the first time we were at Sol Sun Belt Cookery and it was a very pleasant experience. We went for dad's birthday and everyone loved the food and atmosphere. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable regarding the menu. It was a Saturday night and there was a belly dancer dancing for ~ 20 min - that's when the music got loud - seems like most people enjoyed the show; we sure did :) Overall it's good and the price is comparable to other casual fine dining restaurants."

"The food was fair, but was not comparable to my first visit. The most memorable was the poor service we received from the server and staff. The server was unexperienced and very poor. A bottle of wine was ordered, but at time of pouring she forgot to let the customer try the bottle first and just kept pouring. I stopped her to try the wine first. That was our first apology. During service, constant reaching across the table to pour wine without an excuse me for doing so. Very intrusive to a meal with a hand reaching across your face several times. Dessert order was mixed up also. Plates being cleared was incorrectly done. Stacking plates on the service table to remove it is not acceptable service as I ama server myself. More to say..."
