HauteDish, a unique culinary concept that both embraces and reinvents classic Midwestern cuisine. Housed in a charming turn of century building in the Minneapolis Warehouse District, this moderately priced full service restaurant presents a casual dining atmosphere in an upscale setting.
"Gave it a 2nd chance 6 months after my first not-so-impressed experience. They compare themselves to NEXT and claim as gastronomic. Maybe my expectations were too high but I was disappointed both times. Food quality was mediocre. We had their ants on the tree as appetizer, it was $12/$15? no better than any vietnamese fresh spring rolls I can get for $3. The tenderloin was overcooked and dry, certainly none of those melt-in-your-mouth steaks that you would expect otherwise. The M&C with lobster was probably the best in comparison: creamy, chewy and good flavors. With a $40 bottle of wine, and the 3 dishes, our bill was $110. Way too expensive for this quality of food I must say. Sorry Haute Dish."

"This funky restaurant has a limited but interesting menu. We started by sharing a steak & eggs which is their version of steak tartare. This is one of the best if not the best I have ever had. My partner had the the Rabbit +carrots. Which is rabbit 3 ways each was good but would be better if there was only one or maybe two ways. Too many tastes going one in one dish. I had the Fish taco again fish 3 ways again each good but too many tastes on one plate. If you love steak tartare this is the place to go"

"My daughter recommended this restaurant, but I must confess, when I approached the downtown area in traffic and realized that there was a Twins game going on nearby, I called the restaurant and said that I didn't want to pay $10 for parking to eat dinner. The gentleman who answered the phone was very helpful and told me there were several meters nearby that were open. I went around the block and saw that he was right, and with the new credit card meters I didn't need quarters.
From the minute we walked in, I was glad of my choice. The servers were friendly and well-informed. I'm a "plain Jane" eater, but my friends have more exotic tastes. We were all thrilled with the food. We will definitely return!"

"Hautedish is one of my favorite places to dine out at in Minneapolis. It has all that I look for in a restaurant--excellent flavors, non-fussy service, and a relaxed ambience. Don't let the menu fool you, everything looks terribly plain but the execution is anything but. The interpretation of traditional dishes is incredible, and the flavor combinations are very unique. I love the desserts on the menu as well--their take on s'mores is a wonderful chocolate mousse with homemade marshmallows and cinnamon crackers and a lovely gelato. My only complaint is that the noise level can be quite high--why is music played over the loudspeakers? After eating out in so many places in Minneapolis, I say that you have to try this one out."

"We just happened upon this little gem when all other reservations in Minneapolis were taken. The food was incredible and the service was fantastic. I highly recommend the basil, strawberry and cucumber sorbet dessert as well as the cheese tater tots and mushy peas!"

"Great experience from start to finish. The staff was very polite and knowledgeable, while still fun and energetic. The food is amazing- I definitely recommend the Tasting Menu (house salad, Mac & Cheese, Tater Tot Hot Dish) id you're looking for some gourmet interpretations of classic Minnesota dishes."

"The restaurant is cozy and inviting and the waitstaff is extremely knowledgeable in the menu and do a great job at describing dishes and recommending dishes. The food is comfort-food with a foodie twist and everything we ordered was flavorful and delicious. They have a good beer selection and we were able to try a few things we've never had before. The prices are above average so keep this mind."

"Dined at Haute Dish with my mother on Easter and we were both beyond impressed. Kind, informal and well-timed service. In fact, our server recommended a special tasting menu when we were disappointed to see that the printed one was meatless. Great wine recommendations for us both, and we enjoyed splitting the tasting menu plus another entree as suggested by our excellent server. House salad, mac and cheese, tater tot hot dish and lavender lemon panna cotta were all amazing. Cannot recommend Haute Dish highly enough."

"Our table was seated near the kitchen and all evening long the wait staff was coming and going so close to our table that we actually had to move our bodies to the side, depending on which side of our table they needed to walk past, many times brushing into our chairs, and carrying dinner plates over our heads. I ordered the Tater Tot Hot Dish and it was melt-in-my mouth delicious. The food prices, however, were very high for the skimpy amount of food. So-so experience; we will not go back."

"My husband, college friend and I went there Saturday night. The food was fabulous, and I'm a foodie. The charcuterie appetizer was tasty, easy to share, came with crackers and bread for the "spreads". The waitress was very patient as we asked lots of questions about all the house special cocktails--and they were appropriately dry or fruity as desribed. I highly recommend the tasting menu--the only thing is that next time I would skip the appetizer, as we had too much food."

"A little disappointed in our visit this year. Waiter rushed us to order all at once when restaurant wasn’t even full. We wanted to have a drink and app before ordering the main courses but he insisted we order all at the same time. My girlfriend had their version of a 3-course taster with beer pairings. She enjoyed the food but the 1st beer in the flight didn’t come out right away I had to remind the server and then they brought her second course before she was done with the first course and the third course before she was done with the second course. She didn’t get to enjoy the food like she should have because one dish was getting cold before she even finished the other. I did like how the food runner clearly explained the dishes."

"Very meat-centric, even for a carvnivore. We went on Sunday night, which was to be the vegetarian prix fixe menu, but since it was Restaurant Week, the program was a bit different. The food was good, but not as unusual as I'd been led to believe. The steakhouse salad (without the bacon) was the best of the vegetarian dishes which were presented. The bread served with the meat pates was cold. The chocolate dessert appeared to have been a freezer for several days before being served. When the waitress was asked for a recommendation on the meat dishes, she responded only with "all are good" More of a disappointment than a success. Although I will not go out of my way to return, I'm also not against a return visit if going with a group."

"What a sweet place. Our server and the bartender were fantastic. I had to break my promise for Lent because their beer list was so great. I had a Bell's HopSlam. It was delicious. The food was pretty good, but not mind-blowing...but who am I to say that, I can't make toast. I had a great time and would definitely return, if not for another crack at the menu, just to sit and hang at the bar with Ryan, the bartender."

"Overall the food was very good, if a little expensive. The vibe wasn't right with our waitress that night but that happens. Parking was confusing and expensive. Looking forward to trying again in warmer weather."

"I was blown away by the food from Haute Dish. I consider myself a foodie - and because I was wish family, I was able to sample four different dishes. The food was a creative take on classic meals but truly elevated. The menu was inspired, the beer list outstanding, the staff friendly and knowledgeable. I cannot recommend Haute Dish enough!"

"Good restaurant. Have been there several times for special occasions. Left as soon as we arrived because they hadn't posted that there'd be a special pre-fix menu for Valentine's Day. Too bad."
