"I usually have a steak on my birthday and my spot is usually Ruth's Chris (having lived in New Orleans for a while). I may be making a switch. While I still think Ruth's Chris steak preparation is unbeatale, they have fallen down on the quality of the sides. The sides at Capital Grille were just wonderful. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Overall, the meal was a step above."

"Got together with friends from college that I had not seen in 25 years. Had a wonderful evening. Never felt rushed. All of our needs were attended to nicely. "I went here with my husband and his parents and we had a great time. The caprese salad is amazing, the vidalia onion rings were delicious and the steaks had by everyone were perfection. The wine list was quite extensive and we were able to enjoy a very nice bottle of Stag's Leap Cabernet."

"I've been enjoying Cap Grille for years. This last time dinner took 3 hours start to finish despite asking the waiter to move things along due to time considerations. What's worse is that my entree (surf and turf) was on the dry side."

"The Capital Grille is now our new favourite! AMAZING food! EXCELLENT service! GREAT atmosphere! An overall spectacular experience! From the fabulous drinks (and I am a stickler having bar-tended for years) to the INCREDIBLE lobster mac-n-cheese (I would LIVE on it, if I could!) to the eye-popping desserts and PERFECT espresso, this place is FIVE STARS all the way!

"My swordfish was pretty charred black on the edges and along grill marks and I should have sent it back. I didn't because the interior wasn't dry and I didn't want to delay my lunch partner. Clearly the chef didn't watch it when it was reheated under the broiler, but she/he shouldn't have sent it out to be served. Everything else was its usual top quality."

"Typical steakhouse. After eating at one I always question why I spent $300 for 2 on a dinner I could make at home (this time it was because someone gave us a gift certificate). Service was attentive and friendly - but he pushed a bottle of wine that wasn't good enough to be a recommendation. My wife's fillet was very good. My steak had a very rub, but was overcooked (I ordered medium rare and it was medium to medium well) and thus not nearly as tasty as it should have been. Lobster cake appetizer was good but not worth the $20 while the fried calamari was very nice. Cheesecake dessert was good. Overall, for that kind of money, I would rather go somewhere with more inspired food that I can't make at home. Overall, typical steakhouse."

"This was our first trip to Capital Grille. I hope we will have many more opportunities to visit. The steaks were so tender we almost didn't need a knife. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. Must try the lobster mac and cheese. Overall a great dining experience."

"Outstanding experience. What stood out that most was that the service was amazing, despite the fact that we were there during restaurant week for lunch, which meant that we were paying less than 40% of what the menu prices were.

"We went for restaurant week during lunch at about 2:30 and it was pretty quiet. Our waiter was attentive and perhaps the friendliest waiter I've ever had. The salad was nothing memorable, but the filet was perfectly cooked and the flourless espresso cake was absolutely outstanding."

Our waiter was unobtrusive yet pointed out helpful suggestions and was very accommodating.

"As always, the food was wonderful. We went for restaurant week lunch, and our group felt that the restaurant week menu was a bit too limited (2 appetizers, 4 entrees, 4 desserts). The waiter was nice, but seemed a bit distracted. He forgot to bring a couple things (condiments) we asked for, disappeared for a period of time, and came back to the table smelling strongly of smoke. This is a place we go only occasionally, when we are looking for a good steak."

"We completely enjoyed our visit to The Capital Grille. Our server, although at first we thought a little egotistical, was extremely knowlegable and accomodating (thus cancelling out the ego thing!) He guided us through our selections (which were all wonderful...especailly the mac and cheese...and the coconut pie was unbelievable!)The wine list was amazing, and again, his suggestions right on. At the end of the meal, the dreaded splitting of the bill...usually a nightmare with a big group. Again,our server was most helpful and did not make a big deal about the split. The Capital Grille...a WONDERFUL experience and we will definitely return!"

"This is an excellent stakehouse. The steaks were excellent and the sides were great, especially the cream spinach. Great for a business dinner, as I went on a Friday night and it was not too loud. It is also good for a romantic evening due to the lighting and decor. The only complaint I would note is that the wait staff mixed up our orders and served the medium rare steak to the my friend who ordered it medium and vice versa. In the end it wasn't a big deal. Other than that the service was superb and the dessert really good."

"The food we ate was not bad, but really nothing special. Capital Grille didn't live up to it's hype so I was a little disappointed. Service was also nothing particularly special. "I mistakenly made an Open Table reservation for dinner at the Capital Grille thinking we were participating in Restaurant Week. Wrong! I used the wrong portal for the reservation, I guess. We almost left but the management was so accommodating and kind that we stayed on and enjoyed ourselves a lot. This place reeks of power and politics and is just the right setting that you'd imagine for an old boys club. The bar was hopping and most tables were full by 7:30. It was an experience that I might not repeat soon (I love Charlie Palmer's more modern feel) but I can recommend the management, and service to the highest. Very gracious."

"I have been to Capital Grille many times and had some wonderful experiences. My parents were visiting DC so I took them there...and it was so-so. I have to say that this was the most lackluster service I had there. Usually the service is excellent...but our server was somewhat casual in his demeanor...so the service left a little to be desired. The food was ok...not as outstanding as usual."

"my reservation was confirmed via Open Table for 730pm for two, but when i arrived at approx 715, the reception person insisted my reservation was for 8pm, and said she'd do what she could to seat us earlier. as it turned out we were seated at a quiet table (which i'd requested) very near 730pm, but i did not appreciate the issue over the reservation. ultimately we had a very good dining experience. one other note, Patrick, one of the bartenders was friendly and accommodating despite the large crowd in the bar area. Thanks!"

"We had a reservation for 3, and everything was top shelf and top chef! Our server was superb--service and conversation! When our party grew to 6, the maitre d' was gracious and accomomdating--moving us to a bar-area space--allowing us to celebrate some out-of-town friends' impromptu arrivals. Thanks to everyone that made the evening a truly special one that's been the buzz amonst us all week!...Not our first time at Capital Grille and definitely not our last!"

"Overall I thought the food was very good. Not my favorite piece of steak, but decent, nonetheless. The sides were amazing. Only complaint - the portion of the meat was too big. They should cut the piece down to size and then charge less. We ate only half the piece of meat and had to discard the rest because the commute home was too long for the steak to handle. Otherwise, very good."
