"I'd made a reservation for 3 at 6pm for a friend's birthday dinner. I arrived and saw my friend sitting at probably the least desirable table there, right in the front. Many other tables were available, including several of the wonderful booths they have. I nicely asked the hostess for a better table and she curtly informed me that the booths were saved for larger tables. I hadn't requested a booth specifically, so asked again at which point she said she had to talk to the manager. All of this resulted in our being seated in a booth which was lovely, but dampened by the process. The hostess informed me that in the future I needed to request a booth when making a reservation.i didn't bother to point out, I hadn't ever asked for a booth."

"50 North is a good place to go with friends. The high backed booths are very comfortable and help lessen the noise from other diners. The one frustration I have with 50 North is that their food menu is quite limited. There are fewer food choices than wine choices. A bit more variety would be most welcome."

"I made reservations for Mother's Day brunch a week before the event. In my reservation, I also stated that it was my wife's birthday. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. Unfortunately, we sat there for close to 15 minutes before someone came to our table. No one wished my wife happy Mother's Day or happy birthday, although they seemed to do so for every other table. When our wait person came to the table to pour water and take our drink orders, he said, "you can go eat now, the buffet is over there." We never had anyone come by to check on us to see how we were doing. It actually felt as if the wait staff weren't sure whether our table was part of their section. Very good food, marginal service, forgotten table."

"We started with the Clam Curry appetizer.The clams were succulent and wonderful, the curry sauce was AMAZING. For mains, the table ordered the Halibut special (with a citrus gastrique), the Scallops, as well as a Clam Chowder, and Crab Cakes. The halibut was done to a turn, moist and smokey, the gastrique bringing a lovely acidity which was a perfect counterpoint. The scallops were absolutely perfect, tender and flakey, with a fantastic. The crab cakes were loaded with crab, and came with a pepper aioli that was delightfully snappy/spicey.The chowder came piled high with clams in the shell, and piles of pancetta and seasonal potatoes. The broth was creamy and savory.Discriminating foodies in Seattle should know that this place is out there."

"we had calamari and crab cakes for start, elegant presentation, quite delicious, only portions were small. for main course I had fish tacos which were perfectly prepared, (similar sauce to the crab cakes - an aioli), mom had the ribs which were good (but not "baby-back") and my wife had the seared sea scallops which were "ok" (too small a portion). For dessert we had the chocalate souffle cake, which was a "B" and apple pie ala mode which had great flavor (apple pieces a little hard). The live music was nice but it made some of our conversation a bit difficult. I love the design and decor and really comfortable booth. Prices were reasonable - about $30 a person."

"I went on a Friday evening to hear a friend who was performing at their 'live Friday' events. I'd make a reservation, and the seating was prompt. The waiter was courteous and helpful in explaining the specials. My guest and I shared the small clam appetizer, which was delicious. We had to work hard to catch the waiter's eye to request some bread to sop up the delicious broth - seems like the dish should come with this. I had the scallops on cauliflower puree, and my dinner partner had the roasted halibut special. Both were excellent. The wine list is also very nice - and well priced. All in all, a very enjoyable evening. Oh, and free parking! What a plus."

"The "Wedge" salad (iceberg with tomatoes, blue cheese & bacon) is to die for. Baby back ribs -- tasty, tender meat that falls off the bones. Drinks are always special. Feel like I've really treated myself after a trip to this restaurant. Hip, efficient, friendly (UW students?) wait staff. Like the bustle of the place."

"50 North is a great neighborhood restaurant? The food is excellent, the service is good and it is a good spot for a grown-up night out or for families. They have awesome live music on Friday nights! I highly recommend this restaurant. And, just to add, that they are very community oriented- check out their guest bartender program and other community giving- makes you really want to support them."

"This was our first time trying open table and I'd never heard of 50 North. The menu looked pretty good and they had a table available so we figured we'd give it a try. We met some friends there and they had arrived early and we seated at our reserved table early, which was great for them! They already had a few drinks by the time we got there. They were pretty happy and well taken care of. My husband ordered the ribs and they were awesome! I had the pork belly wrapped top sirloin which was really good and I loved the truffle oil infused mashed potatoes. The ambiance was very nice. We were kind of surprised to see so many children there, but it wasn't a problem. Overall we are really happy we found the place and we'll be back"

"I love the ambiance of 50 North. The lighting is dark but not too dark and we were lucky enough to visit on a night with live music. The food left something to be desired, it was lacking in seasoning. The baja fish tacos were under seasoned. The fish itself was cooked nicely, but the massive amounts of raw cabbage and mediocre salsa weren't great."

"Three of us went there for brunch before a Husky BB game. We had reservations, and got there early, but were not seated until our reservation time (no problem). The hostess seated us and took our coffee order (1 decaf, 2 regular). She delivered the decaf and said a pot of coffee was brewing. From that point on, for at least 10 minutes, no one came to our table (we did not see a waiter). Finally we had to flag someone down and complain. He got us coffee and took our order, and all was fine after that, but for a while no one was paying any attention. The restaurant was moderately busy, but not enough to warrant ignoring us. I am going to assume that was just an anomaly. Once someone paid attention to us, all was fine."

"The steak salad was great and so was the pulled pork sandwich. Pale ale and pinot noir that were ordered were good, as well. Service was great most of the night, she did sort of forget about us when we tried to pay bill, but she apologized as soon as she realized she hadn't come by to get our bill. Creme brulee for dessert was also very good. Overall good night for Valentine's Day, not too busy and atmosphere was nice."

"our waiter was very nonchalant and rather disinterested. i asked for tartar sauce for my fish and chips and was brought some other sauce we think was a salad dressing. the fish portion of the fish and chips was very small and my 19 year old was still hungry. and why don't they serve a tartar sauce anyway with the fish and chips? we'll not be back or recommend to anyone."
