Hamasaku is a sophisticated harmony of Japanese cuisine and Californian exuberance. Sincere and succinct, Hamasaku's literal translation is one who creates food from the sea. Celebrated for its whimsical reverence for sushi and understated elegance, warmth in hospitality and modern sensibilities underscore a quintessential dining experience.
"We had not dined in a while at Hamasaku; but again did not dissapoint. Beautiful, fresh, and creative sushi and sahimi. Had EA(spicy tuna), DJ Spider(lobster, crab), Charlize tACOS, Green Dragon. Cannot remember other sushi rolls but all excellent. Octopus Sahimi with a light sauce, mushrooms was probably best octopus we have had. Hamasaku has added small tapas plates. We enjoyed hanger steak, Black Cod, and Chicken thighs. Although very good; I would stick with their sushi and sashimi. Our waiter Matthew was excellent and recommended a excellent Saki. More like a nice white wine."

"Taking the portion of the dishes and lackluster service into consideration, I consider this restaurant slightly overpriced. The overall taste of the food was satisfactory - 7 out of 10. I did not like how they over sauced their dishes. Out of the dishes we had, the yellowtail sashimi (see pic) was my favorite.
However, I did find the presentation of the baked crab roll to be disconcerting. My fault for expecting a level of skill in presentation from this restaurant! To save the restaurant from the embarassment, I decided not to post a picture of it on Yelp."

"Nice variety to the menu, and our server was particularly helpful when she figured out I was a vegetarian and pointed out that one of the dishes I ordered had bonito flakes that were not mentioned on the menu."

"THis is one of my long time sushi favorites but this night it seemed as everything was off. The service was very slow but then again my favorite girl Apple seemed the only one tending tables. The G 6 I requested extra spicy was mild and the black Cod was awful."

"I heard about how expensive this place was but that's where my date for the night wanted to dine. I must admit, this was the best sushi experience I have ever had, period. We asked not to be seated in the middle of two other couples because it just feels restrictive to where you can't talk because you're so close to the other diners. The host understood and placed us at the best table in the house where it had a more private feel. Our server was very attentive. The timing was excellent. Just as we finished a dish, a new one arrived. Everything was great!! I have no idea as to the name of the cold unfiltered sake but, it was the best I have ever tasted. Will return again!!!"

"Food was excellent. Took the staff a while to take our orders but food came fast afterwards. Can be compared to Nobu w/ quality of food! Hole in the wall kind of sushi place, simple ambience but a must to try!"
