Historic Leslieville warehouse turned Restaurant & Wine Bar.
Our idea blends simple, authentic food around newly discovered wines, sincere service and the joy of sharing it with friends in our warm, open space.
We offer the most seasonal and responsibly sourced ingredients available to us from our admired local farmers and purveyors. Our stand-alone wine program includes 40 by the glass choices and an Enomatic System for sampling some of our more rare bottles. We can’t wait to invite you into our neighborhood “home” and let you experience it for yourself!
Our Name... Skin+Bones is two-sided. It hints at the minimalist industrial space we’ve created at 980 Queen East and also refers to the skin of grapes and the bones of animals. Grape skins play a large part in the winemaking process lending colour, tannin and to a degree, structure to wine. Bones infuse the deepest flavor into a dish and are essential to the essence of the meat we eat.
"pros: large space, good vegetarian dish, choice to have 3 oz wine. cons: weird tables that dip down in the middle, loud, not a lot of options on menu."

"Despite losing a chef and part of their kitchen staff a day before, the food was very good and the service gracious. I would definitely return once their kitchen troubles have been sorted as I can only imagine a future experience to be improved. Beautiful space, great wine selection. The sticky toffee pudding was fabulous!"

"Service meh, inconsistent pours(and when the issue was raised I was told I was wrong, that in fact I received more than 6 oz despite my friend having a full cm more in his wine glass!), accoustics were terrible - food was tasty but they're super stingy with carbs, trout with 1, that's one, mini purple potato cut into quarters. The restaurant has good bones, just needs some attention to detail and consistency.
No features offered on a Thursday night with a fu restaurant when the menu is very small.
Won't be dining there again - and online menu not accurate. If you're going to post your menu online then update it!"

"What great service! I always appreciate a knowledgeable staff and they certainly provide one at Skin and Bones. Our waiter was fantastic, extremely friendly and attentive, and the sommelier recommended some of the best wines I've tried lately . It is a wine bar, so I expected great wine but the food was just as great, I would recommend the tartare. The music is quite loud so it's definitely a fun vibe but not ideal if you're looking for more of a laid back scene. I had a great time at Skin and Bones and I will certainly be back again!"

"While the service was very good, the food was really bland and in some cases overcooked. Also too pricey for the quality.Doubt very much that it will last in our 'hood and that's a shame. Very disappointing...we won't go back or recommend."

"Being on the east side of Toronto, the restaurant is a decent size and the tables nicely spaced out. Not cramped like a lot of other downtown restos. The food was great, portions were a good size; not too big, not too small. Dessert was fantastic, definitely try them."

"I wanted to like it but I just didn't. The room is not warm. The good - Homemade bread and cheese plate excellent. Also sticky toffee pudding lovely. The bad - everything else. Chicken tails too salty and too greasy. Had the trout. Served in a broth. Not tasty. Served with undercooked potatoes and kale and greasy fried oysters."

"Took friends here on their recommendation. Service was really good and helpful in navigating their wine list. Food was good but everything was really heavy and really rich."

"Service was outstanding (Chris); food was perfection; it is very open concept, so is a bit noisy, but otherwise very good. Amazing wine selections. More of a special occasion spot, but if a touch more approachable, would definitely be a favourite."

"It was a wednesday evening so very quiet. I loved the decor...The food was tasty but not as good as I was expecting it to be, based on what I had heard from a friend. I would try it again (alone) once it's been open for a while ... But would recommend with caution until I have a fantastic experience..."

"Had higher expectations for this, as would love to have some more restaurants in the East end.
The wine list was extensive (given it's a Wine Bar!), my husband had a $20 glass of wine...The server was very friendly and really nice, I liked that you could see into the Kitchen, and the big table in th corner that they had to cut the bread and fold napkins. The bar also looked fun to sit at. We had 6:15 reservations and it was pretty empty, even when we left around 7:30. The food was okay, nothing stood out though. I had the trout, which was pretty standard. Husband had the gnocchi and it's 'acceptable'. I wouldn't go back for the food, but may be for the wine. The top of the tables all curve inward...the wood is bent."

"A nice spot, but I'm afraid it won't last in Leslieville. Far too big for a spot that caters to a small part of today's dining market... those with wads of money.
The food was good, but not slam dunk. The wines were fine too, and that's why I might return. For a glass of wine or two."

"All in all was very tasty, however found it expensive for the amount of food on the plate. Left somewhat hungry after 6 oysters, gnocchi main and a piece of cheese for dessert together with 2 glasses of wine."

"Great space and fabulous wine list. Service was exceptional. The one challenge is they do not present vegetarian options and the menu is tight, so it might not work for some. I loved it."

"The menu focuses on less-loved cuts of meat, with a focus on fat. Beef tongue bourguignon was impeccable, pork belly with octopus salad was, well, like eating a side of bacon. My heart is still recovering.
Service was friendly, but slow when the room got busier later in the evening.
Ambience is pleasant - a stark loft-like industrial feel, with surprising space between tables.
Lovely wine list, with no 'misses'.
Overall a welcome addition to the east end."

"Food and service were exceptional. We had an early dinner before going to the hockey game, so very quiet. Our only criticism is the lack of a healthy green vegetable with the main course. A relatively easy addition of something healthy, considering the food is a decadent splurge, would enhance diners back for another visit."

"Great wine list by the glass. Enjoyed a nice cava and California cab sav. Portions were small but food was good overall. Wasn't crazy about the beef tartar but ate it anyway. Trying that was more of an experiment. My main course of the beef bourginon was cold but delicious. Great atmosphere and service. The large open space inside gives it a bit of a club feel but it's not a noisy experience. My wife and I will give a try again soon."
