CiNe restaurant, a modern day taqueria featuring contemporary Mexican dining, is located in Hinsdale’s Historic Downtown on 29 E. First Street. CiNe is open for dinner six days a week. Lunch options will be available in the Summer of 2013 when the stunning outdoor patio opens.

"The server was not very attentive; maybe because we were newbies and she had some tables of regulars. The food runners constantly ran food to the wrong table. The outdoor patio, music and drinks were the best offer. The fajitas were cold and dry upon arriving to the table after a long wait. The guacamole was good but if you are looking for authentic Mexican flavors this is not it. The food is modern Mexican no spice with dumbed-down flavors. The last gripe I have is that almost everything had some sort of pork product in it."

"We were absolutely stunned by our dining experience at CiNe. The redesigned theater space is chic and tasteful. The rotunda area with wood floors tends to be noisy, but the carpeted back room was quieter.
And then the food arrived. We sampled three appetizers and three entrees among our group of four. The Tinga Tostaditos were outstanding as were the tacos and tamale. The carne asada main course was a good a steak as any steak restaurant offers - at half the price. The White Mole walleye was one of the most unique dishes ever and the salmon was also outstanding. What made the food so good were the unique flavor combinations and very fresh ingredients.
We will definitely be returning."

"When I made my reservation in Open Table, I asked the restaurant in the comments field to please comment on my husband's birthday that day as that was our special occasion to eat out. Apparently this was totally lost on them and no indication was made that they received the comment; neither did we have the booster seat ready for us. The wait staff were off on all of the timing and made no eye contact; maybe language barrier? but I think it was more an experience issue. For example, halfway through appetizer I finally asked for napkins and utensils. And the beverages and food were way slow coming out. Really, the food is quite simple and shouldn't take so long. I am guessing that is also related to experience. Kids meals too big."

"Beautiful restaurant, but the service was poor. Took a long time to get our drinks and the waiter, who was new, did not check back with us very often. Trio of salsas and guacamole apps were tasty. The people i was dining with ordered tacos, all said they were dry. I had hanger steak entree, it was delicious. Overall, not a great experience and probably won't be back."

"Good food but the service was horrendous. The waiter claimed they had just had a private party and that backed them up. The food was what I would call modern Mexican. It seemed to have the traditional Mexican flavors and meat choices but with a bit more flair. The chef could stand a bit more creativity as we saw a lot of the same things carried over from dish to dish. Overall I liked the vibe and the food and would return."

"Disappointed that reservations meant that we sat in the bar area at a high-top, but the seats were fairly comfortable. As we waited for our friends to join us we waited at the bar even longer to be served a drink. The noise level in the bar was extraordinary and not certain why our reservations did not qualify us to sit in the dining room. The food was acceptable. Will not return."

"The family and I had an excellent time and the food was outstanding. Have to admit when I first saw the menu I was a bit nervous but still open minded. I mean who eats corn with goat and cream cheese, right? Well, it was phenomenal and I want the recipe! If I could make a minor critique, the time between second and third course was a bit long but overall it was definitely a great experience and I patiently await the next dinner program."

"Our first time at CiNe with another couple. The ambiance is great-what a spectacular job of decorating the old theatre! The drinks were excellent-all hand mixed. Had the guacamole and empanadas for apps. Guac was very fresh and bright tasting. Had to share empanadas so only got to taste the veggie one but it was good. For entrees, chicken enchiladas were outstanding-done with crepes and not tortillas-worked well. Chicken was extremely flavorful. Other entrees were filet fajitas and pork tacos-everyone loved their food.It is a bit on the pricy side for Mexican but I think well worth it. Our server Guerrillmo was very good. Had churros for dessert. Wow! Sugar and dough-still warm with chocolate dipping sauce. Definitely go back."

"I was disappointed in the food. It just seemed like they were "trying to hard" to make something special above and beyond what you would experience at the solid Fronterra Grill or other gems in the city like Mexique.
While they claim their Margarita's are made in house, serving the Cine margarita from a tap at the bar is simply a really bad perception."

"Went to CiNe to celebrate a friend's birthday. We arrived earlier than our reservation so we sat at the bar and ordered two sangrias. The bartender suggested the carafe which was a great idea - and something we didn't notice on the menu. It was some of the best sangria I've had in years. The food and service were outstanding. I had the vegetarian tacos and my friend had the fish tacos. Both with different toppings - not at all the typical taco styles. As we were deciding on dessert, the waiter said he had complimentary churros to bring us to celebrate the birthday. It was a very nice gesture - and the churros were delicious. I will definitely go back."

"Food was excellent the first time I went but this last time my carnitas came out completely different and dry. Felt as if it was a different chef. "The ambiance was good. Met another couple for dinner. The hours devours were awesome. I ordered a chicken plate. Did not like it very much. However my husband did share his with me. His was great. Steak fajita. Our waiter was very nice. Had to many tables to wait on. We sat way to long between his occasional stops at our table. Our drinks were empty for to long. After I ordered my desert I regretted it. When the waiter came back we asked for our check and no longer wanted our desert. They did not charge us for it. However they quickly packed it up and sent us home with it. I did enjoy that the next day. I will not give up on this CiNe. I will visit again. Hopefully I get a different waiter."

My only complaint is the wine list which doesn't offer much value. Like so many other restaurants CiNe appears to rely too heavily on the wine list as a profit center. "The server Diana was very friendly and professional, didn't rush us but checked on us frequently. The tacos, both beef and fish were bountiful. As well as the drinks. Couldn't waste the entree' so brought them home and enjoyed a second meal.Going back!"

"We had a group of ten which was handled very well by the staff at CiNe. Mexican fare was well above average and there was a commendable selection of draft beers.......margaritas also received high marks. Young staff worked hard to please and their efforts were successful."

"After reading the reviews on Yelp I almost cancelled my reservation, so glad I didn't. (Goes to show you can.t believe everything you read on the Internet) Decor was so refreshing, created a fun atmosphere and upbeat atmosphere. service was excellent! Food was Mexican with a French twist. Had the Enchiladas which were wrapped in crepe, amazing! Chicken fajitas were flavorful and so tender and the rice was like a risotto with carrots and peas, again amazing. Had two desserts the French toast and the plantains with ice cream both delicious. sangria was the best!"

"New, delicious twists on "Mexican" fare. Very fresh, wonderful flavors. Best fish tacos I've had in a long time. My foodie friend said her chicken enchiladas were the best she' ever had (I agree). The guac and chips were terrific. (Chips hot and crisp/guac fresh and tasty). Margaritas with fresh lime juice ---yummm. Great price point. I thought the rice and beans sides were visually appealing but a bit bland. Will defnitely go back and bring more of my foodie friends. Looks like there is a nice bar for meeting up with pals....we went on Sunday night - it was quiet."

"I struggle with this one, While the food was outstanding the portion size was far too small for the price. At $32 per entree my grouper was the size of a Tapas portion. Far better bet is to stick with the generous size tacos platter. As others have noted guacamole is fantastic.Great Cocktail menu but stay away from House margarita.It pours from the tap and tastes like like.Bar service was indifferent.
If you can Park yourself valet is located down the block at another restaurant .It took far too long to get the car.

"Great food and equally great service! Not your average Mexican food. The chef puts a unique twist on everything and the results are excellent. Our server Miriam gave us excellent recommendation's and explained the choices in detail. We were thrilled from the apps to the Carne Asada made with Filet Mignon and Pork Milenesa, and finally flan for dessert, yum! The decor is classy, the staff works as a team quickly and efficiently taking care of all the details without being invasive. We will be going back, often"

"The service always is very slow here and we always have to ask for chips and salsa to be brought to the table. The food is never hot but just sufficiently warm and there really is nothing spectacular about the food. There are so many other Mexican restaurants out there that are so much better."
