‘Feast’ is run by Richard Knight and James and Meagan Silk, bringing a traditional and relaxed European approach to dining to Downtown Houston. We offer simple, honest, rustic cuisine in a relaxed, homey environment. Our emphasis is on quality, local, seasonal ingredients prepared with passion and imagination. Our desire is to summon the spirit of a family meal shared around the kitchen table of an old-fashioned European family farm...
"Feast led the trend in Houston of the farm-to-table movement; now every good restaurant seems to be following. But Feast has a menu with a British slant you won't find anywhere else, and it's executed brilliantly. If you want to experience Feast, hurry, because unless something changes, I've heard Feast will close, late summer, 2013, and it will be a loss to the Houston food scene."

"I didn't grow up eating organ meats, but Feast could definitely change my mind about the whole idea. Beef heart tartare: amazing. My beef tongue main and my wife's steak and kidney pie were outstanding. Friendly service, and the price is just about right."

"I've been at Feast twice and I absolutely loved it. The food is delicious, service is great, prices are reasonable and the ambience is excellent. My friends and I had a brilliant evening at this restaurant."

"This is excellent food, unpretentious and incredibly delicious. Yes, it does take the St John philosophy of nose to tail eating, but it is more than a concept - the food was exceedingly satisfying. You know when you're eating good food - your tongue identifies joy & happiness - and the sauces, so full of flavor, are a class above other fine-dining restaurants. I am now searching for those hard-to-get cuts so that I won't have withdrawal symptoms if Feast closes!"

"Good cocktails. Our scallop lover loved the Scallops St. Jacques appetizer; the other not so much. The beef shoulder was not available for an 8 pm seating. The waitress recommended the pork shoulder instead, which was very nice. Highly recommend it. The coq au vin was also very good. The toffee pudding was a nice way to complete the meal. Cozy, but dim lighting and noisy. Surprised that the restaurant closes early. We were the only guests left when our meal finished close to 10 pm."

"This is the 2nd time we have been to Feast and it was good. But we just feel like we want it to be more than it is both times we have gone and we want to love it each time we walk out! It is a great place overall and it will be missed in the Houston food scene if they do really close this year!"

"Service and food was perfect. Waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable.. I have added this place to my list of favorites. Parking stinks - breakdown and give it to the valet. My friend tried to park in the empty lot across street, where he was chased down within minutes."

"Good food and good wine made for a good evening with a friend from out of town that I had not seen in a while. We were impressed with the menu and the waiter suggested a great wine for our meal. We'll definitely be back!"

"I had read quite a bit about this restaurant and their take on English pub/country fare. Perhaps it was not a good night or maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but I was not as impressed as I had hoped to be. We took friends from out of town and they were also not as impressed as the critics. My Bordeaux by the glass was served in a water glass and was almost warm. I ordered a dish featuring pork belly, but the very generous portion I received had practically no meat on either piece. I realize that pork belly is supposed to be heavily marbled and contain a lot fat, but this was all fat on one piece and almost all fat on the other piece. What was there was tasty, but I had to fill up on mashed potatoes. Not impressed."

"This is a really fun change from your average Houston restaurant. The food was interesting and well prepared. Hearty food made from odd parts of animals. The service was marginal. Probably the best decaf coffee I have had--made in a french press. Yum."

"Our meal was traditional French fare. If you are watching you waist line or get squeamish at the mention of liver and tongue on the menu don't bother. We ordered the scallops, and wished we had saved the bread to slurp up the melted cheese. Our main was the beef neck and calves liver with bacon. Both were outstanding. Save room for desserts, they were also stellar."

"I have to say that I was a little disappointed in my experience especially with all the hype and anticipation. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great either. What really distracted from the evening was loudness of the dining room and the restaurant is in a small house. The waiter had to say everything twice, not just to us, but to all the tables I observed. I have been in a lot of restaurants that were measured to be as loud as an airplane landing, but this ranks with the loudest. The staff was not your typical Houston friendly; I had to engage them to make them smile. The menu was varied and unique, but it just did not seem to fit with the environment and aura of the experience. They are closing in August and have lost their mojo."

"Used to be an exciting and novel restaurant in Houston, but lately has been serving sloppy, over-sized, under-seasoned/over-seasoned food (depending on what you order). I ordered a fino sherry, but the server brought me a sticky-sweet one instead. First time in a while I had to send back a drink.I heard the restaurant will be closing in August. I wouldn't mind if it closes in April."

"Basic, good, fresh food in a casual European setting. Given the flexibility of the menu, I was a bit surprised at the mumber of heavy and hearty items, expected some lighter spring fare."

"What a wonderful visit to Feast. Expectations were low since it is listed as "British" food but we were pleasantly surprised at the interesting offers on the menu. We also liked that all of the meat was locally and humanely raised. The service was friendly and casual which was helpful because we had several questions about the menu. Very tasty mean with generous portions."

"We had been looking forward to this for months. Unfortunately, everything was ... fine. Just, fine. The pork belly was both too crispy and too fatty; the pork cheeks were good but not great and their sauce was a little overpowering; and the whole fish was solid, but certainly not spectacular. And all that was quite a disappointment. It was a shame--made us wish we had gone to the Feast back when they were still riding a wave of success in Houston."

"The food at Feast is fantastic and not your average fare. While they have traditional items, you are likely to find some more unfamiliar dishes on their ever-changing menu as well. It's a great place to expand your food horizons."

"I am sad to hear this restaurant is closing. It is such a cool idea. It is a "nose to tail" restaurant which means you get a bigger variety of dishes than you would at most restaurants and it is the perfect place to experiment. They also have plenty of traditional dishes if you are feeling less adventurous. I haven't had a dish here that I didn't love. I highly recommend Feast to anyone."

"We came here for an early anniversary dinner and everything was great. Our server was particularly helpful and added to the entire experience.
We ordered the warm pork fat on toast to start which arrived quickly and was eaten equally fast. I ordered the pork cheeks and while it was good, I wasn't blown away. It was missing something, I'm not sure what. However, my husband ordered the pork belly and it really is as good as everyone says! We've had pork belly everywhere, and were joking if it could shine a light to the one we had in Bali, which is still by far the best ever. And surprisingly, it held it's own. A totally different preparation in the roasting/crisping of skin, but amazingly delicious all the same."

"Feast is an amazing restaurant, which makes it so sad that they'll be closing this August. It is unusual for many people - a restaurant specializing in "nose-to-tail" cuisine. Many of the dishes are English classics, which Americans find odd or hard-to-like. My wife had the Scottish salmon appetizer, and the roasted lamb shank for dinner. I had a salad of Romaine, Cucumber, Radish, Celery, Herbs and Raisins, and then Shepherd's Pie with minted peas. We shared a sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Everything was wonderful, the service was top-notch, and if you haven't tried it, you should as soon as possible, before we lose this treasure."

"We went for the special "Burns' Night" menu. The food was excellent from the appetizers to the deserts. They show a very judicious hand with seasonings, especially salt (this has gotten out of control at most "fine dining" establishments), which can be a problem with dishes that are prepared with organ meats. I wish everyone who denigrates it could taste their haggis. I could not have asked for a better meal."
