Soon to be published in "Alabama"s Best Restaurants Cookbook" by Jon McClure, Mikey's Grill is owned and operated by Michael (affectionately known as "Mikey") and his sister, Melissa Lee. They have over thirty years of combined restaurant experience. Mikey has only the freshest seafood delivered multiple times a week, he cuts all steaks in house and even makes all of the his own sauces and bread. Mikey's is truly a family affair; with Mikey whipping up amazing creations with a Cajun flare in the kitchen, Melissa, selecting the wine and running the front and even their Mom, Donna, pitches in baking her delectable homemade desserts!

"I am so happy to have found Mikey's. Everyone at my table of 5 ordered a different plate and we were each very pleased with our selections. My two favorites are chicken saltimboca and crab cakes. My husband had macadamia encrusted snapper and wished there was more on the plate to eat. Perhaps some broccoli or a veggie would have helped to fill out the plate and satisfy his appetite."

"We have dined at Mikey's several times, and have never been disappointed. We especially like the fact that they offer lunch menu items even at dinner time - sometimes are appetites are smaller than other times. Service is always good, staff is super friendly, and the food is fabulous."

"food was very good. Service was subpar. I never got any refills on my tea or water. Other people only got one refill and only after flagging down the waitress and asking. we had to ask for a third menu (we were a party of 3). We waited over 45 minutes for our entrees (tho the appetizer came out very quickly. We waited 20 minutes for our credit cards to be picked up after the checks were dropped off at our table. The restaurant was 1/3 full so she wasn't overwhelmed with work. Very disappointed in the service but very happy with the quality of the food."

"Very friendly place with very good food. Mikey, the chef and co-owner, has several Louisiana inspired dishes that are quite good, and I would quickly recommend any dish on the menu (I've tried them all), though I do have my favorites. Prices are moderately high, but represent good value considering the quality of food offerings. Melissa, the other half of ownership, oversees a staff which is very friendly and attentive, and they make a killer Martini! Their rolls are excellent, and border on habit-forming. Although we go mostly at night, one should note that it is a good place for lunch as well, and that the lunch menu is available at night for the more modest appetites."

"Definitely one of our new favorite restaurants. We love the fact that it is not downtown, easy to get to and everyone is so friendly! The food is delicious! The staff is very knowledgable about the food and wine! Even though the restaurant is in a strip mall, it doesn't feel that way once you walk in the door! Reservations are a must, especially on Thursday, Friday and Saturday!"

"We've been enjoying Mikey's since it opened, and recommend it highly. Great crab cakes and seafood dishes, and Mikey's "bayou" specialties are top notch. Well stocked bar, and best honest martini around. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. It has become our favorite weekly night out place, and they do a good job on lunch as well. Prices are moderately high for dinner, but very in line with other restaurants serving similar quality of food. Their rolls are habit forming! A plus for the lighter appetites is that lunch menu items can be ordered at dinner, which can hold down the bill and avoid wasted food (Not an issue for me, but my wife's appetite doesn't match mine!)."

Basically the restaurant is in a strip shopping center and very little was done to a store front to convert to an upscale restaurant that the food is representative of. The server was a nice guy, but not very good at what he was doing. When we asked for recommendations, he was extremely vague, as if he really didn't know how to expand on the menu."
