Plum's Upper Room has grown straight from the heart, and is a place everyone should feel at home. The ‘Slow Cooked’ food combined with an enchanting atmosphere has been known to stir up conversation. So come on in with your favorite company and sit for a spell.
"We had high hopes given the recent articles and press. The Ambience is great and there is a cool vibe, but things went downhill the moment we were seated. Service was extremely slow. We were informed the restaurant was undergoing some changes and they did not have a wine list. Our server tried to tell us what they had based on whether we wanted red or white. However, she did not know much about grape varietals or regions, so we were not able to get wine we wanted. Then 2 hours after ordering dinner and not having our meals, the manager came by stating he was sorry for the slow service and we would have our food in 5 minutes. 30 minutes later, still no food, so we walked out. Not a word from the owner who was there and aware of this."

"The food just keeps getting better at plums. The fillet Tartar and creme Brûlée were better than 90% of expensive Parisian bistros and the sea bass the best preparation I have had. Plum's is a first class bistro waiting to be discovered!"

"Although we had a reservation, it took 10-15 minutes before anyone noticed that we were waiting to be seated. Several of the waitstaff walked by, but did nothing to see if they could assist us. We were about to walk out when someone finally came to assist us. Bottom line, when people are waiting and there is no one available to seat diners, it does not make for a good first impression. The food was good although several of the seasonal items on the menu were replaced with substitutes which was a little bit disappointing. Service was OK, but server was not really attentive. After reading a number of great reviews about the restaurant, we were thoroughly disappointed and it will probably be awhile before we go back."

"The Indiana Cheese Flight is amazing! Especially the honeycomb. Pleasant servers; nice presentation; all local Indiana product; fun combinations. The scrapple is the saltiest thing I have ever tasted. Actually, all the food was over salted."

"First of all, the historic space is warm and embracing-one of the nicest settings for a restaurant in the area. It is simultaneously rustic and elegant. The chef is creative, innovative, and sources locally for most menu items( as evidenced by a lovely and delicious sorrell salad recently).Appropriate for carvivores or vegetarians. They have fun signature cocktails and a well-chosen wine list. One great thing-the noise level is low, making dinner conversation possible! Highly recommended."

"Have been going here for a few years. Always good! So glad they joined Open Table! The scallops and pork shoulder were great! The fresh bread and lemon tart were even better!"

"This is the second time we have dined at Plums and we were extremely disappointed. My dinner was wonderful, my husband's was not. When he finally received his correct order, no one checked to see if his steak was prepared to order, and it was not. He ordered medium rare and received medium well - the entire inside of the steak was grey. Such a shame as even though it was over cooked, he said it had nice flavor. Two people asked (late in the service) whether our dinner was good. I said mine was, but my husband's steak is overcooked. Neither did anything about it and our waitress merely patted his arm and said "I'm sorry." Lastly, when he wrote a note to the owner/manager on the receipt alerting them to the issue, no one responded."

"I have been going to Plums for years. However, the new chef is the best they have ever had and he makes a point of going to every table to speak with guests."

"We love Plum's and have been there several times. However, this was our first time since head chef Jeremiah Clark took over. The food has always been excellent, but the overall feel of the restaurant is much improved. They still use the chalkboard (which I love), but now have a paper menu as well. I like that they list their local food sources. The tables have been reconfigured, and the overall flow is better. The addition of a full bar is welcome, as are the special cocktails. It's one of those restaurants where you don't need a dessert, but they are so delicious, you can't help but indulge. After this visit, I would definitely call Plum's my favorite restaurant. Can't wait to come back!"

"Food is wonderful and our waitress was absolutely precious! They have made some great changes here this year!! The atmosphere is fantastic and the live jazz guitar made the ambiance really special and unique. They do have a fun cocktail menu, but it takes way too long to get the cocktail. Our sweet waitress kept telling me it was coming and after 30 minutes it did show up and the owner took it off my bill, which was appreciated. Once I sipped it- it was delicious. So, it would be nice if they could work on the speed a bit! The chef came out to greet all the dinner quests as well which is always a nice touch!! This is a lovely place that I greatly recommend!"

"Incredibly impressed with Plum's Upper Room. The menu was inventive but not intimidating and the food was excellent. The cocktails are excellently crafted and it may have been the best dessert I have ever had in Indy."

"This was our third timing dining at Plum's since moving to Zionsville a few months ago. We have also tried several times Noah Grant's, Villagio, and Cobblestone Grill. We like those restaurants, but prefer Plum's by far for it's ambiance and food. Both are European, probably French, in feel, and will appeal more to those who like that character. It is much better suited for couples than for family groups. The menu is limited, so those with a specific dish (such as a steak) in mind may not find what they are seeking, but we have so far liked all we have tried. My wife just spent two weeks in Italy, but could not wait to come back to Plum's for their chicken. Go figure! Usually pretty calm setting, but live music on some days"

"Oh, the entire experience was great, especially the desserts! Our server, who was delightful, also was the pastry and bread chef and wow, they were wonderful!
Thanks and when I go back home to SF on Tuesday, I will talk about Plum's Upper Room.

"The food was great and different from many other restaurants. We loved our serving staff. There are steep stairs to get to the restaurant so if there are individuals who are unable to climb such stairs, it would not be a place to go. It was very busy and lively."

"Second Time been there. Service was way too slow both times (not busy the second time) and it is over-priced. Nice background guitar music but too loud for a small place. Has the potential to be both a "neighborhood gem" and great for a "special occasion" if slow service is improved and the menu is not so highly priced (or at least add a vegetable to the entree serving so everything doesn't look so sparse when presented). Plum's is a very lovely setting and our waitress was very nice."

"This place is one of the 3 or 4 best restaraunts in the Indy metro area. The bistro-style food is beautifully prepared and largely locally-sourced. The atmosphere relaxing and warm as is the service. Plum's is like a really good bisto on a shaded Parisan street."

"I love love love Plum's. The food is beautiful, local, and all things wonderful. The braised pork shoulder is a very reliable menu choice and the specials have all been perfection on a plate. They do a nice job of switching up the fish specials and they have all been very fresh. The tuna I most recently had was quite enjoyable. The chef does a really nice job with the risottos. The sticky toffee date cake with bourbon butterscotch is my go to dessert, but I have also enjoyed the brioche doughnuts with orange cream and the housemade ice creams."

"Used to be a loyal customer of Plum's but sadly after our recent visit (2/16/13) we will never be back and cannot recommend this restaurant any more. It retains the unique setting and cozy ambiance that we've always loved, but the food was truly dreadful (the main course pasta was a tiny portion that had been completely overcooked) and the service unattentive."

"Would not recommend because food was very expensive for what one received. Ordered an appetizer which turned out to be simply a fancy name for French fries. Few beer selections as well as wine."

"Absolutely great; especially when you are looking to impress a woman. Certainly not the least expensive place, but the food was incredible. I had the best pork shoulder I have ever eaten. The cheese plate appetizer was exceptionally good. The server was very attentive. The restaurant was "European style" -- meaning you get the table for the entire evening and food is served when you want it. Allows for a wonderful, slow-paced evening."

"I had the great opportunity to go to Plum's Upper Room with work colleagues. I had been to this location years ago when it was a different restaurant and it had not been my favorite :( I must say this was completely different! The food was wonderful!! Our table enjoyed the appetizer "pizza," rib eye's and the lamb chops...all were superb! I find it very hard to find beef I like anywhere but three other high-end restaurants and I have now added another! This may far be the best!! We ended our dinner with the best, french pressed coffee the table's "coffee connesuer has had in a restaurant and wonderful "hot" chocolate ice-cream (spicy), melt-in-your mouth lemon tart, and sticky toffee cake!!"

"My wife and I had dinner at Plum's Upper Room Saturday Jan 26th. We used to visit the restaurant reglarly a few chefs ago. After reading recent positve reviews about the new chef, 23yo Jeremiah Clark, we were curious to give it another chance. Excellent ambiance, same as it was, located in the upper floor of the Zionsville original opera house. The exposed brick look is very cool. The sitting areas with couches, lounge style, also very cool and conducive to hanging out for drinks and appetizers w/ friends. The food was fenomenal: French recepies, American interpretation. Night special was: pumpink filled homemade agnolotti w/ dandaloin greens etc., just awesome Our waitress was also the bread and pastry chef. She did a fantastic job"

"We really wanted to like this place, but service was terrible here. From the moment we walked in to the second we left, we did not feel like they made any effort at all. Food was good, wines by the glass were terrible. You'll need to order a bottle if you come here unless you want a really bad headache the next day. I could elaborate on how bad the service was, but I can't say anymore, I'm hoping it was just a fluke. Anyway, we will not be back here. Food was pretty good though, so if you try it I hope you get better hospitality than we did."

"Great food. While wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, we experienced several times of inattention with no water in our water glasses and waiting for our bottle of wine. If this would improve, this would be a 5 star restaurant."
