"The feel of the restaurant is very nice. The menu was unique, and well thought out. We were there for lunch, and both enjoyed our food. We had the burger and the steak salad. Would definitely go again,and would like to go for dinner, and spend some time in the bar. It also had a nice feel, and is large."

"Second time to eat here. Just incredible food and service! Had the sangria, nice and light and the sweet hot squid was unbelievable both times. Had the kale caesar salad and it was sooooo delicious. Only weak point was the free cupcake for my friend's birthday that was dry and lifeless. Over all a 15 out of 10."

"This is a very large restaurant that, in my opinion, has everything going for it but one big thing. Great location, a great bar, very good staff, good ambiance and very good food. The one thing that frustrated me and made my visit less than excellent was a menu tries to be so cute describing the dishes with catchy words that you cannot tell what the dishes are. If there were only a dozen or so items on the menu it would not be so bad, but there are many, many items that after you look it over it becomes overwhelming."

"My friend and I like to try a lot of different things so we opted on the small pates. All were very flavorful but a little too rich (and I love rich). We had the braised short ribs, squid, pork belly and the quail. I’m pretty adventurous but the quail in the jar was a little much. Next time I would do just one of the items we selected and then go for something to counter balance the richness."

"We had a large group (10) and wanted to be seated in the bar area to watch a playoff game. The stools around the table were extemely uncomfortable. (They has a sharp edge on the front of the seat that cut into your thighs) Everyone in our party complained about the seats. The service was slow and the server missed one person when taking orders. Three of us ordered a seared rare tuna and it was over-cooked to the point of being medium done. The kale ceasar required a steak knife to cut and was left virtually untouched. The other dishes were okay but really just average. Given the reputation, we were surprised and disappointed."

"The Phoenix location was just as good as our first trip to the San Diego original. My wife and I both had the Mahi TNT - an outrageously good piece of fish with crab and horseradish mixed on top. We added the bacon grits as a great side dish. Inventive dishes at Searsucker continue to amaze. You have to try the donughts and chocolate for dessert - crazy good."

"We read about Searsucker in the New Times and selected it for our weekly date night, which also happened to be birthday night. We loved the place. The food choices are varied, creative and will excite foodies. We wished for bigger appetites so we could try more things. We opted for a smorgasbord of small plates, rather than the entrees, but we'll go back to try the entrees soon enough. Our waiter was great - present when we needed him. He also helped us with the menu, which is full of things with names that don't really give away the dish, and foods I've never heard of. I particularly liked the drink list. Whomever designed the drinks is pretty creative, luring me away from my standard glass of red wine. Highly recommended!"

"The champagne for dessert was a nice touch, but I would have given them high marks in any case. The bartender was very good and mixed a couple of martinis for us very well. The salad was crisp, dressing delicious. Main courses were hot, tasty and shared. We split a dessert and both thought it was a wonderful place and would definitely return."

"We were excited to visit Searsucker as the chef is one of the hottest chefs in the US right now. The menu was daunting but we got through with the help of "Tim" our waiter who looks like Taylor Hicks. The food was really exceptional and the portions very generous even for the small plate items. We sincerely hope Searsucker grows in popularity and is successful. The location is somewhat difficult and is a destination restaurant...not one that is in a mall or downtown Scottsdale location. The office type location is different but the restaurant is beautifully appointed with high energy atmosphere. Good luck to them and to the chef!"

"The food was inventive and delicious. Portions were just right - large enough to give perceived value, but small enough to finish. The duck fried were outstanding! And the Rum and Coke dessert - yum. Surprisingly light. When we first got there (we dine earlier than “fashionable"), service was wonderful. Attentive without being smothering. Then it started to fill up and service went down hill. Felt forgotten at times. For what we spent, service didn't match up. I realize it is a problem with management not having enough waiters when it gets busy. It's unfortunate, but the wait staff has to pay for these decisions. An issue that needs attention. If we go there again, we will make our reservations for earlier than this last time."

"Went with my Mom for lunch--requested comfortable seating which the hostess was glad to accommodate (Mom has had six back surgeries). They put us at a large booth for six, so we had plenty of room. I ordered the steak salad and Mom had their Cobb salad. The greens and dressing were PERFECT, the brie croutons were to die for and the french fried onions topped it all off. My steak was cooked perfectly as well {medium rare}. Mom enjoyed her Cobb as well, it had large pieces of bacon and looked yummy. Look forward to a return visit soon."

"This restaurant has everything going for it EXCEPT the annoyingly loud music. They actually have a DJ set up in the bar area! There is no way that I will ever come back to this restaurant or recommend it to anyone because of the DJ. It made it very, very difficult to have any sort of conversation with our friends who were in town for a visit. At the end of the evening, we all agreed that the place had great food, lovely atmosphere and wonderful wait staff and that the music was way too LOUD!"

"Only open for 5 months... they should get better. Cool interior - but looks like designed by a tv design decor show or the inside of an Anthropologie retail store. Location is two blocks off the fun area - weird choice unless you're going after the business lunch crowd. Waitress isn't sold on her restaurant yet... makes a difference. Love the effort and small plates... but nothing was great except for the shortribs. We'll probably try again in a year (if someone else is buying)."

"It was our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We wanted to try something different. Searsucker was the choice and it was a good one! We enjoyed every minute and every taste. We ordered drinks, fries, bone marrow, duck, wine and cauliflower. All were fabulous! Our server was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We will definitely return!"

"My girlfriend and I had a tough time finding the place. We had made a reservation that Tuesday night and were quickly seated us. Our waitress was very helpful at letting us know what was good on the menu. My girlfriend ordered the chicken, while I went the adventurous route and ordered the duck for the first time. We ordered the mashed potatoes and fingerlings as well. The complimentary biscuits were dry and distasteful. The entrees were ok, not great. The manager in training offered to get my girlfriend another refill on her drink, he never fulfilled that offer. I won't be returning simply on the rapid decline of the service we were given towards the end of our meal."

"My friend and I on a spring training trip booked a last minute reservation at Searsucker and couldn't have been happier. The upscale restaurant didn't look twice at our dressed-down baseball outfits and we were rewarded with an amazing meal. I highly suggets starting with the chicken and waffles - fantastic! And the duck 3 ways was delicious. All of our server's suggestions were spot on!"

"Food and cocktails are inventive and delicious. Kudos to the kitchen. The interior is really beautiful and modern. However, the awkward location and parking situation (basically there is no parking) is the biggest drawback here. But once inside, Searsucker is a cool, albeit stand-alone, venue for great food in downtown Scottsdale."

"What a gem!! Wonderful food,ambience and service friendly courteous without being too familiar and "in your face".
A dinner experience which I want to share with friends and family in the future.
The food was delightful. Fresh,tasteful and exciting with many innovative ideas and flavours. Cool, relaxing ambience and comfortable seating.
Wide ranging wine list with a couple of French classics.
All this at very, very reasonable prices. My only fear is that it will become so popular I will have to book months in advance."

"Planned a party there and many of my guests left early because it was freezing and too loud. We sat by the kitchen where one server yelled quite a bit randomly and it made it hard to hold a conversation. This was my second attempt at the restaurant after going the first time and having the food sent back. My dish was excellent this time around however many of the other guests didn't seem to enjoy theres. They were unable to split the bill into 6 different bills so it created an issue for some people who didn't enjoy appetizers, bottles of wine and dessert. I thought it was a fun scene but I wouldn't plan another party there because I don't think I would get any of the same guests to show up."

"Food is good. I ordered the spicy shrimp for appetizer and it is hot and tasty. The short rib is tender and just melt in your mouth. Both items are in the "smalls" menu and they are small. Service on the other hand, needs improvement. The hostesses are neither cheery or pleasant and doesn't make us feel welcome. Our waiter is slow and not attentive. He always look at the next table while talking to us and doesn't ask when we ran out of coffee and hot tea water."

"Great place and wonderful food. My only compliant is having to pay for valet parking. At this level of an establishment, it's surprising they would charge their customers to valet park. Also, the Red Velvet cake was disappointing. The cake was very moist but frosting was flat, which is really the highlight of any red velvet cake. Maybe add some cinnamon to the frosting to pump it up. Just my 2-cents! :)"

"I was really excited to try Searsucker and then left feeling a little underwhelmed. First of all, the space is HUGE and was virtually empty when we went--which was pretty strange as the chef had won The Taste that very week. We ordered two cocktails and five small plates. The cocktails, though accompanied by stellar descriptions, were a bit flavorless (Snake in the Grass in particular). Some of the tastes on the small plates were GREAT (scallop with bacon and caramel...heavenly, duck fat fries--a great treat) but mostly I left wanting just a bit more."
