In search of a sun soaked patio, a truly unique dining experience or just an engaging place to socialize, the Granary Tavern on the Greenway is the answer. A place where rustic and modern elements meld seamlessly to create a casually-stylish environment. Located at the end of Milk Street, the newest addition to the Glynn Hospitality Group portfolio of restaurants and iconic hotspots is certain to impress. Making its home in the Charles Bulfinch designed building constructed in 1816, this 250 seat restaurant has two floors, two bars, exposed kitchen, patio, and panoramic al fresco style windows. The informal and welcoming atmosphere is reaffirmed with the gastronomic offerings. Locavore"s will relish the fact there is an emphasis on Slow Food principles, fresh seafood, farmer's market produce and dynamic presentations. There is a focus on healthy preparations and locally sourced ingredients; simple comfort food concepts enhanced by contemporary accompaniments.
"I was looking for a restaurant for Mother's Day in Boston somewhere the other side of chic, cookie-cutter and dive, and came across the Granary Tavern. Our family of five was seated downstairs in very attractive room with some nice rustic touches. The menu for brunch was very tantalizing but the food delivered was lacking in some zip - maybe a little more seasoning or more spice. With just these minor criticisms, though, brunch overall was excellent. The Bloody Mary's were great. If you're looking for a place with great atmosphere, reasonably priced, and solid food selection I would highly recommend the Granary Tavern on Milk Street."

"This is an attractive little restaurant tucked into a building with walls of windows on two sides. Staff is very pleasant and accommodating. Brunch was served with casually elegant presentation in a timely fashion by a waiter who was present when needed but not overbearing. Although I would not consider the food to be gourmet it was very pleasant to the palate. Quantity was more than adequate and price exceptionally reasonable. This is a restaurant I would definitely recommend for any brunch including one on a special occasion. The only negative aspect is a lack of coat room or coat rack. I ended up sitting on my coat since our chairs were sturdy high stools without backs. I look forward to returning to sample the dinner menu sometime."

"The food was well below expectations. The shrimp had a strange texture and not edible. The chicken in the chicken and waffles was way over cooked. The waitress was checked out. We gave her back plates full of food and was NEVER ask how the food was. Won't be back!!!!!!!"

"We had a good back table for our large group. It's a little noisy and difficult to talk at the table in the downstairs part of the restaurant but the atmosphere is great. All if the entrees were very good- if you're looking for a restaurant with more upscale food and atmosphere than a pub this would be a good choice. Salmon, burgers and vegetarian pasta dishes were very good. Fried okra was overdone and not that great. Fair prices, good service."

"were a group of 6. Three of us had the "special"(aka: tiny portion) Steak and Cheese Sub. It was maybe 4 inches long and thought it tasted stale. Others all had burgers that were bigger and tasted better. service was average at best. took half hour from time gave order till we were served. we left hungry and dissatisfied. Should have gone to Clarke's."

"I needed to find a restaurant to take my best friend to for her birthday with a group of her closest friends and when I was searching online I found Granery Tavern and thought I would give it a try because it seemed reasonably priced, fun, and the menu looked appetizing. I was thoroughly impressed with this place. The service was great, the drinks we made well, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was fun, and we all had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, as I already have been over the past two days since I had dinner there!! I'll definitely be back and so won't all the people I went with!"

"A restaurant's staff can often make or break the place. The staff here is poorly trained and sloppy which may be a result of inexperience or lack of polish, but it comes across as rude. The restaurant has such a nice space that it is a shame to see unpolished waitstaff and mediocre food."

"I understand that it was a busy Saturday night however, our bar snack, appetizers and dinners were all brought out within 3-5 mintues of each other. Not only were we on a two top which made this logistically difficult but I felt as if they were saying "Hurry up and get out so we can seat more people". The food was decent but hard to enjoy when it was all piled on top of each other."

"Cool building with a great menu, good beer list and tasty food. Portions were large. Service was not rushed. Since this place is in Faneuil Hall I expected it to be packed at 5:30 on a Friday, but it wasn't too bad, although it did start to fill up."

"Shared the chicken and waffles and the oyster po-boy and both were excellent. Great beer selection as well. Old mill-style accents give the building the historic feel it should have but is updated for functionality. You get the bar atmosphere you are looking for with far better food."

"Good to great food, great beverage list, noisy in every corner, but a fun place to dine. We had the fish and chips, Caesar salad, and oysters. All were above average, and the fish was great. Seasonal beers from Pretty Things were also very good."

"Busy with the pre-St. Patrick's Day" revelers, but that aside, it was decent food and fun. Mixed crowd-- young and older which was nice. Menu was somewhat limited, but we had steak frites and a Caesar salad, along with three appetizers which were ok. Fun place to go if you're not expecting gourmet. Bar food. I'd go back for a couple of beers and a burger perhaps?"

"Granary Tavern is a new hot spot for a younger crowd. The decor is amazing for preserving the architectural integrity of such an old, historic building. The menu is fantastic and the food is great. I would suggest Granary Tavern needs to decide who they want to be: pricey dinner spot or LOUD bar crowd. Dinner for 4 with drinks/dessert ran close to $200. The food/drink was fantastic, but at those prices, it would be nice if I could carry on a conversation with the person sitting next to me at the table. The music is cranked so loud, making it virtually impossible to speak to the person directly across from me, and shouting necessary to speak to the person on either side of me. I'd go back, but for drinks only."

"We were seated in the basement around 6:15pm on a Thursday. The after work bar crowd steadily grew and I felt like we were in the bar not in a dining room. The space is cool with exposed aged brick and large wood beams but the place is so loud, especially because of how loud the music was. I felt the restaurant was more geared to the after work drinkers/minglers than the diners. As for the food just OK. The galric chips (with dip) were swimming in oil. The egg on the granary burger was cooked through not runny as expected. The chicken fried chicken appetizer was bland. I would not go back."

"I made a 645 reservation but when we showed up we were told they had us in the system at 545 and we'd missed our reservation. I pulled up my OpenTable email that showed 645, and they were confused but apologetic. We were quickly brought to a really nice corner table. Service was good, the menu seemed a little limited (didn't have a ton of options if you don't like seafood), but the flatbread I ordered was good. I'd definitely come back again, I enjoyed the atmosphere and it seems like a fun spot to come after work."

"Short menu, but everything on it seems worth having. Excellent variety of tastes, so there's probably something for everyone. I had the clam chowder, which really was more of a soup, than a chowder, but tasted excellent. Meals we had chicken fingers for our son, chicken and waffles, and one of the fish dishes. All was very good. Our server was very good. Neither overbearing nor aloof."

"Our grandson had seen Granery Tavern on one of the food channels and wanted to eat there during our visit to Boston. We really enjoyed the restaurant, the food and ambiance. It did not disappoint. The Granery burger was great. Our grandson chose the waffle topped with chicken...WOW what a combo and fun. Hope to return!"

"Loved the space. Pretty space. Casual and bright for lunch with a pub like feel. People were nice. However, my chicken and waffles was disappointing. It was obviously fried to death when the server brought it out. It was obvious by the blackened color of the fried chicken that it should have stayed in the kitchen.
Will tryit again but would not run back."

"Just great Friday night dinner and bar scene. My wife and I went for a much needed night out alone. Food was great and our waitress was on her game. It was busy but our service was great. The restuarant has two floors each with a bar. It has the traditoonal old boston tavern feel without out everything negative that comes with being old. We told our closest friends and going this weekend.
The flat bread pizzas are awesome."

"We visited for Brunch on Sunday and had a great meal. Chicken and Waffles were fantastic though perhaps not too heart healthy. My brother also had a special omelet filled with deep-fried oysters and served with a side of spicy potatoes which he enjoyed very much. Large choice of beer and some nice-looking Bloody Marys too!"
