"During our visit to the Fireplace Inn, in Chicago's Old Town, we found the food and service to be very good. Food was served promptly but not too quickly, and our server was attentive without hovering. The restaurant has a large bar area, and since our visit was on a Friday afternoon during March Madness, the bar was crowded. When we arrived, the dining room was quieter but soon filled up with patrons there to see the game. For the person who is looking for good food in an energetic sports bar atmosphere, this is an excellent choice."

"I had a very bad experience with the drinks. I sent back the key lime martini as it tasted nothing like key lime. I then ordered a white russian which was unsatisfactory as it was too strong."

"6:30pm on a Saturday and we were seated right away (had a reservation). Good BBQ comfort food and desserts. Service was attentive and atmosphere was quiet enough to have a conversation at the table without yelling. That's a rare thing in Chicago on a weekend night. 4 people with a bill total,of $100 (without tip) which included a couple beers and 2 desserts. I'll definitely go back, especially when attending Second City productions as it was only a one block walk. Casual dress is perfect."

"I remember going here a few years ago and dining in the main dining room and it was more cozy and romantic. When I went on saturday there must have been a bar crawl and the entire place was more of a fraternity party like atmosphere including the main dining area. If this is what you like i recommend it, if not stay away. If I knew the atmosphere was going to be like this I would have went somewhere else. For me, I feel the bar and the main dining should be separate and it was so loud you could barely hear anyone talk. The food was great the atmosphere was terrible. Also watch out for bubbling ketchup (I've never seen that happen before!)."
