"We were planning a wedding and the brides mother came in from out of town. We used this occassion to show her our town and made The Tavern our final stop. She was impressed and we enjoyed great service and superb food in a beautifully decorated Le Jardin."

"First of all, we had a very nice time dining here..Service very nice (Cyndi)..Seafood appetizer combo plate a CLEAR winner..all food passing by us was beautiful.. though I'm still a bit confused on the restaurant's theme ... .Le Jardin seemed very casual and 'light and airy' but the entrance to the restaurant was formal, dark Pub ish...but all in all very attractive ..would dine here again but probably for a lunch or brunch or a later night food drink music dancing experience...live music and dancing at night.."

"Some things do not change. When it comes to The Tavern at The Broadmoor, that is good. You can't improve upon excellence. Extraordinary meals and service by a waitstaff that is not pretentious and always alert. I've been coming to the Broadmoor since 1957. If anything, it is even better than almost 60 years ago. And, in 1957, it was always known around the world as the best. In a world of waiters and waitresses wearing multiple tacky pieces of bling, who call you by your first name, and who constantly interrupt your meal, the Broadmoor offers a trip into the best part of a bygone era."

"As a whole we were not blown away by Tavern at The Broadmoor. It was just fine but not a standout. Their cobb salad was quite good which is probably why the hotel recommends them for lunch. It is also why I gave the food 3 stars. The filet was good, a bit undercooked and more rare than medium rare as ordered. All sides were either too salty or drenched in butter. The mashed potatoes tasted like you were eating a cube of butter, the green beans were sitting in a puddle of butter. They use a lot of salt across the board at the restaurants in the hotel. When I say a lot I mean A LOT. My daughters french fries came with so much salt and pepper that we sent them back.
The prices did not merit what was served. The service was excellent."

"The decor seemed dated and mismatched. Not the level I would expect from the Broadmoor. Steak was well grilled. Sides were uninspired. Service was average, again, not what you'd expect. A bit of a disappointment."

"When made reservations forgot to ask to be seated in the Atrium. WORLD of difference in ambiance. The other section is just OK. Ordered the flatbread, it was good but not as good as Biaggis or Magianos. Will order something else next time. Been going to the Broadmoor since I was a kid, so will definitely go back."

"They have tried to keep the ambiance of the old "B" but it is not there. The fish and ships were over done and mushy not crispy, the soup was cold the service was uncomfortable ignoring some over solicitous to others. The cheese bowl and crackers were still good. We were there early so perhaps the kitchen wasn't ready and the wait staff were just getting themselves prepared."

"I love the Broadmoor and a lousy night at the Tavern doesn't diminish how wonderful the hotel is but do not eat at the Tavern. Terrible and overpriced food! My Mom had to cut her Lobster Therm. with a steak knife - it was so tough & rubbery. My Dover Sole ($52) tasted like over- baked paste. When I spoke to the young looking male Manager, he was rude & condescending - not like every other employee of the Broadmoor, all whom go out of their way to be so kind & helpful. There are so many other fantastic dining establishments at the Broadmoor - don't bother with the Tavern. Might as well throw $320 out the window...."

"Food was great, but there were a few things to work on! We ordered the lamb and it came with nothing except a HUGE piece of meat and a little side of greens on the plate. After the dinner arrived we realized that all sides were separate. This we did not notice, which was not pointed out by the waitress either. We would of happily ordered a side if we had noticed. This would also be a great upsale as well. Honestly, for $44.00 I think it should come with a side. Not only for the value, but the presentation for the most part. Then the manger was very rude and practically threw a side of potatoes at us and said they were on the house. Really...is this good customer service? We were not looking for a freebie, we just wanted a good meal!"

"We ate early (at 5pm)because we had an early appointment following, so there were not many customers. I regret to say that the service was just so-so. Kinda like Dennys for breakfast only slower. It was not up to Broadmoor Standards. I do hold The Broadmoor to a higher standard. It is our favorite hotel. Our hotel stay was outstanding. Also, I like my steaks with a pink center (no red)so I ordered it "Medium Well". It came out Well Done, You know totally cooked/dry and with a gray color. When a steak is over cooked, it can't be sent back because it can't be "uncooked" quickly, so I reluctantly ate it. Had I sent it back, my wife would have been finished with her meal by the time my steak was returned to me."

"The Tavern's Garden Room is bright and upbeat with skylights, color and plants, but the remainder of the restaurant is dark and cozy for a good atmosphere on a cold night - not for a Spring day. I had the Colorado trout with braised onions, grapes and almonds and was very good. My husband's lobster cobb salad was good tasting but the presentation was a little strange with one large piece of lobster on the top. Chocolate cake was delicious!"

"Way, way, way overpriced. The $48 NY strip was no better or worse than the same steak for $18 at Outback Steakhouse. Similar in every way except the Tavern is in the resort."

"We had a very poor experience when it came to the service. The manager even came over and made up some weak excuse about how and why the food was taking so long. We kept our mouths shut and didn't complain as we watched six or seven tables sit down after us and leave full before we even got our food. Nothing was comped, we had to pay full price for everything. Very very disappointed. Would recommend trying the pennrose and would never go back to the tavern."

"Very disappointing...We have had a better prime rib at the ST. Francis Hospital Cafeteria during their Friday night special, for six bucks. We have been to the Broadmoor one other time and it was just OK. We gave it another shot but will not visit again. It is highly overated. We are high income earners and hear lots of people in our circle say good things about the Tavern. We are not impressed."

"My 12-year-old son and I had lunch at the Tavern. The food was delicious and extremely well executed. The staff is attentive but not chatty. The "Garden Room" is beautiful. Be sure to ask for it when you make your reservation. Luch prices are very reasonable. I will definitely go back."

"We were disappointed in our meal at the Tavern. We had anticipated a great meal, especially due to the fact that the Tavern is part of the Broadmoor, a famous and beautiful resort. Our main complaint was about the beef, which supposedly is their featured entree. Three of our party ordered rare prime rib; though it was rare, it was sinewy and tough. The maitre d' insisted that it was prime beef, but to a family of very seasoned prime rib eaters, it could not have been. Very disappointing. The filet, though tough on the outside, was very nice otherwise. Seafood was good as well. The waiter was very nice, but kept reaching across the table when he could have reached between us to clear and serve. Clearly, management is lacking."

"If you are looking for a place to dance, this is your place. Otherwise, I'd avoid it. The service was abysmal. We had to ask for everything twice and the band was so loud that we couldn't have a conversation so we sat there watching the people dance. Which was entertaining in a funny way. The food is so mediocre that I can't imagine why anyone would return, unless it is to dance."

"Prime rib was at best a two on a scale of 5. Salmon was at best a two on a scale of 5. I have and continually cook better meals at my home than what we were served. As a side note, the brunch on Sunday was fantastic. Not saying I wouldn't ever eat there again but was not impressed at any price!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"The renovated garden terrace is beautiful and as always the wait staff was excellent. I was, however, a little disappointed in the chicken salad. Before the new construction, the salad was much larger and had much more fruit with it. Also, because it was served on a platter, the fruit remained separated from the salad. With the new serving in the bowl, the small amount of fruit balls were mixed in with the salad...not nearly as appetizing."

"We were placed outside the kitchen access door between the older / nice looking area and the Garden room. We had reservation and yet they stuck us there. Even the host was not sure why we got placed there. The mushrooms were over cooked and no Balsalmic taste what so ever, the Prime rib was gainy --- almost tasted frozen. All in all not a place I would ever go back to."

"I almost never give outstanding ratings, reserving them for the truly special. Since this was a special occasion for us, we were particularly pleased that the service and food were among the best we've experienced. My husband is a steak lover and I enjoy fish, especially trout, and we both left highly satisfied. I was glad that the side dishes did not seem to be after thoughts. I especially enjoyed the asparagus that came with my meal. I loved having a delicious, light sorbet for dessert since by then I'd eaten as much as I wanted. The ambiance was comfortable and quiet, but we arrived early. I was also pleased that the total bill was slightly less than we've often paid for special occasions."

"Menu was lacking a bit from what we are used to for the Brunch time frame. I am sure though it would have been better for the dinner menu, we went for Valentines day & could not get in for dinner. The area we were seated while cheerful, was very bright & fairly cool. For us personally, we would have preferred a darker & warmer atmosphere. All & all, out of 10, I would say 7 for this first visit."
