"Everywhere else they give ridiculous portions where you either forced to overeat or carry a doggie bag wherever you go. This place has fresh food served in perfect portions the way we should eat. They accommodate pasta eaters w whole wheat or gluten free pasta and everything just tastes fresh fresh fresh!!"

"I had friends visiting from out of town, and wanted to find a reasonable Italian restaurant to help them celebrate their anniversary.
Galli did not disappoint. Many reviewers cited Galli as a 'neighborhood gem'; fresh pastas and sauces with expertly mixed cocktails, and they were right.
The food was delicious, and our server was friendly, attentive, and helped with menu choices. Everyone enjoyed everything. For apps, don't miss out on the riceballs or grilled calamari. I would definitely recommend Galli to a friend. Enjoy!"

"The bartenders and staff were very attentive and friendly and the food was good for a Saturday evening after shopping and movie, unfortunately there is only a single bathroom. I would go back if I needed an off the beaten track location for dinner."

"The food was good; service was slow at times, but attentive; nicely decorated; lively crowd; moderate prices; varied menu. The noise level is a deterrent for my age group as there is no sound cushioning. Luckily, the radio was NOT blasting, but the voices bounce off the walls."

"LOVED dining here. The food was fantastic: from the grilled calamari with arugula appetizer to the grilled salmon entree which was juicy and delicious. Their Nutella sliders sounds better than they are - they could use a bit more nutella cause the brioche seemed to overpower the filling.
The service was fantastic. Always felt cared for and accommodated.
Ambiance was great as well! It's a narrower, long space but the decor is warm and welcoming, as is the bar.
Great for happy hour or a sit-down dinner!"

"Maybe we just had bad luck because our table was next to the service doors that opened and shut - loudy - all night. Hard to talk with anyone beyond the person next to you. Waiter was like a robot - no personality. Food was fine but nothing great."

"We had a lunch reservation for 8. We walked into an empty restaurant and quickly put in our order. Well, one hour later and all the people who had arrived after us were eating and we were still waiting for our food to arrive. Someone from our group needed to leave early so we asked the waiter to wrap her meal up. They brought all of our food out except for hers. That made absolutely no sense since she needed to leave first. To make it all even worse when she opened her wrapped meal -- the steak panini -- the bread was not toasted and there was no mayo. A complete disaster. The waiter gave his apologies but made no attempt to redeem himself/the restaurant otherwise. Will not be going back there."

"We had a 7.45 reservation. By 8.45, when we asked for a dessert menu, the server responded by telling us that they had a 9pm reservation at our table. Really rude."

"booked with a request for a table inside the large dining room rather then with the view of the bar. Later confirmed by phone that the table there is available. when we got there we were told that the the table we reserved was gone. We've asked to be moved to any other available table and were told by rude waitress that all tables were booked. Few remained empty when we were leaving. Seeing two tables next to us being empty despite being assured by the staff that they were booked and we could not have ANY of them we tried to talk to the "manager" , which was also a disaster. He would not listen and was simply arrogant, although I must state that all other dishes were done well. Overall experience -miserable."

"Found this place on Ness and I'm so happy I went there. I went with my family for a late dinner and everyone was so nice. The music selection was great and service was good. We got our food and it was delicious. They even had whole wheat pasta. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and I would be back there myself."

"No wonder this is on the 1000 point list. We will not return. Über expensive wines, salty food, poor service, lack of atmosphere, boring food choices. I'm crossing this one OFF the list"

"Stumbled upon Gali two months ago while in NYC for a long weekend. Liked the ambiance and found the food to be first rate. Was back in NYC this week to move my daughter home after a 4 month Co-op job. She wanted to go back to Gali for her last night in NYC dinner. We were not disappointed. The food was again first rate. My salmon was perfectly cooked. There is nothing worse than overcooked fish. It was served over sauted broccli rabe and cannelini beans with a hint of lemon. Would also recommend the grilled calamari appetizer. It was served over arugula garnished with a few cherry tomatoes and balsamic vinegar. My daughter's rigatoni was served with a nice marinara flavored with italian sausage and spinach."

"This is my 3rd time here for lunch and the food is still delicious. The bread is amazing & the pasta is fresh. But the chunks of garlic in our pasta dishes is not what I would expect to find in my pasta...they need to remove the garlic before serving. Galli also needs to hire more waiters...it seems they have 1 waiter & 1 bus boy for the entire restaurant. I made a reservation for 5 but the table has not been set up yet but that was done very quickly, then we had to ask for menus. Lunch was reasonable & they eventually started to clear our dishes so that we could have dessert, but only cleared half our dishes and no dessert menus came. We finally asked for the check, it came but then no one came to take our credit card...had to pay at door."

"Galli's was great! We were two couples on a double date. We all agreed the food was delicious Italian comfort food. The house pasta sauce was great, the salads were fresh and they had a decent wine selection."

"Food, location and atmosphere were great. Didn't like that we had to wait 45 minutes for our reserved table and it seams they were able to accommodate walk-ins (3 and 6 parties) better then our group of 4. would still recommend."

"We had 6pm reservations and we got a great corner table. As the evening went on it got more crowded and of course noisier. We were glad we had early reservations. The food was delicious and the people who waited on us were very nice. They even have a way of placing silverware on the table without a sound. Just like what you would expect at an upper scale restaurant. We liked that we could get parking at a lot across the street. Also, after 6 on week days there is street parking. It was a great experience. Just as an added note, we got there because we bought a gift certificate donated by the restaurant to help raise funds for Surprise Lake Camp. That made it even nicer"

"Our table was 40 minutes late and they never apologized. The server then didn't bother to tell us any of the specials and was annoyed when we asked. The food was meh. Place seems to have jumped the shark."

"Business dinner for four people on a Tuesday night. Charming, SoHo location (wooden banquettes, contemporary color photos on wall.) Great mix of homey and modern. Delicious pasta. Seated our group in a large, roomy booth. The place was busy but not impossibly noisy. Will happily bring another group for a similar meal on my next visit."

"I went to Galli by recommendation from a friend that it was a great place for large parties. I decided to book the restaurant for the bachelorette party for 10 girls all visiting New York City. We arrived in time for our 9PM reservation and were advised the table wasn't ready and that it would be a 15 minute wait. We didn't sit for 52 minutes. The manager made the effort to bring us champagne at our table, and served us quickly so that we could make our 11pm reservation at the Delancey. Though the manager did the right thing, the dinner felt rushed and it still ruined our night which was supposed to include a nice relaxing dinner before heading out. Needless to say, I won't recommend Galli in the future as a good place for groups."

"Excellent cocktails, very good appetizers (especially the meatball sliders), and mostly solid-to-very-good entrees (the vodka pasta and chicken francese were the most popular choices at the table; the primavera pasta was a dud), with fun service (our waiter was a hoot) in a lively environment. The front bar area is too loud, so be sure to request a table in the back. We were treated brusquely by the hostess at first when we wanted to sit in the back area but were told our reservation was for the front, but eventually sorted things out and had a lot of fun. Would return if I were looking for something in that area, but would not go out of my way for it."

"Galli was the highlight of our New York trip. As a young traveling couple, we were looking for something affordable yet romantic. This was the answer. The service was off the charts, the food was incredible and the bill was reasonable for SOHO. I would eat here every day if I could. We ordered incredible chicken dishes, wine, and ice cream sandwiches for dessert and it was only about 35 each. Great place, great service! I will recommend this to everyone and give gift cards for birthdays to my New York friends!"

"The food and service were great. However, the acoustics of the place were horrible. I was screaming at my friend over dinner, and we still could barely hear each other. We could hear other diners' conversations which was v. distracting. Strangely arranged restaurant. Will never go back again which is unfortunate because the food was fantastic."

"This restaurant is less than mediocre. The food was salty and didn't have any character. The waiter said all their dishes were made one by one, well how else would it be made? But it tasted like it was made without much care. I know what good, simple Italian food is and this is definitely not that. It advertises itself as a neighborhood restaurant and I live in the neighborhood and this is not what I would consider as such. The decor is heavy handed and geared towards the B&T. There was an excellent Filipino restaurant in the same place before them which was a true neighborhood place."
