"On our taco course, the plate was brought to the table and before a single taco had been removed from the plate, a bus boy was asking if we were finished. NOT A SINGLE BITE HAD BEEN TAKEN. Then on the next course of empanadas, basically the same thing happened. My friend took one empanada off the plate it was served on and put it on her personal plate. But, before she had even taken a single bite, once again, the restaurant staff was trying to clear our plates. We were in shock. The restaurant was more than half empty so they definitely didn't need our table. And we also were not the last ones there, so we weren't holding up closing. It was rude, annoying and a total turn off. And to top it all off, I make better fish tacos at home!"

"Need I say more? The El Toro margaritas are excellent, the guacamole for the table is a must, and the chicken enchilada is absolutely yummy. But the swordfish tacos--yes, they are small, but--are so exceptionally tasty and leave you room for dessert!

"The food/drink was very good and so was our waitress, but we were a bit upset that they would not seat our party outside. They told us we would have to wait to sit outside, or we could sit inside immediately. Then when we agreed to wait, we went to the bar, had a few drinks, and then were then told we actually would not be able to receive a table outside regardless of waiting. They claimed it was due to some brunch time-restrictions, but that didn't stop them from seating other smaller parties out there while we were eating. Other than that issue, all was fine but that definitely rubbed my party the wrong way."

"The food is horrible. The salad my friend ordered were pieces of iceberg lettuce with grape tomatoes and chicken with nothing else. It was terrible. I had the tamales - the sauce had raisens in it which wasn't even mentioned in the description on the menu and that completely grossed me out. The chorizo used in the burrito had little to no flavor. The chicken in my tamale was bland. The only thing good about this place were the drinks. The michelada I ordered was perfect. Aside from the great location with outdoor seating and good drinks - I won't come back."

"I've been wanting to go to El Toro Blanco since it opened and it was well worth the wait! The place was pretty busy, but nothing too crazy. The chef was out of the kitchen and the scene was just so lively. We started off by devouring the queso which they had melted to perfection. The charred octopus tacos were cooked perfectly -- not too squishy and not too rubbery. The flavors all worked really well together. We then shared the carne which just tasted wonderful with the cheese enchilada. We finished off our meal with the not to be missed specials of the evening, the caramelized banana empanadas and strawberry horchata. This would definitely be my last meal -- that's saying something."

"Went for friend's birthday - our waiter was very average. The food was delicious. The second we got the guacamole, we had to order a second one. We got the tamale app; per the NYT review and it was amazing. Everyone had a different dish and they were all very good. The music was blaring and we could not hear one another and on top of that, everyone around us was screaming. The noise level was almost intolerable. The food was so good that I would like to go back, but it would have to be on a Sunday or Monday night or perhaps for lunch. The management really needs to lower the music."

"i had a good experience at this restaurant, we started off with guacamole, which came with endless chips (be careful they are freshly fried and quite oily but delicious). then we ordered tacos, this is the only part that was slightly disappointing, they were really good but SOOOOO small. they are all in pairs but for 16 dollars they should at least give you three if they are going to mini sized.
the outside seating was marvelous and not too loud for being on 6th ave."

We had to wait almost 20min to be seated and the hostesses didn't seem to think it was a big deal. If the restaurant is unable to accommodate patrons on time, why have a reservations system at all?

The service was generally okay (we ate at the bar), but in general the staff seemed to want to be somewhere else. I would probably go back for brunch when the doors and windows are opened, but I wouldn't consider this a destination for a great meal."

"We had a reservation for 1:00pm Saturday Brunch and arrived about 15 minutes late, we had to wait an additional 15 minutes for a table, so I assume that our seat was given away. Not a big deal, however. The cocktails were great, my wife and I enjoyed the Han Cholo and the Paloma, the guacamole was very good but the salsa selection that came with it was the real superstar, to me.
I daresay that the Juevos Rancheros Verde were the best juevos rancheros I've had in New York, the Burro that my wife ordered was great as well.
To note the service: I have no complaints whatsoever. It was neither over- or under-attentive, just the way I like it. They left us alone, but kept our water glass full- perfect.
We will be back, for sure."

"I was very pleasantly surprised at the energetic but not crazy atmosphere of El Toro Blanco when I visited for Sunday brunch. The dishes did not disappoint either, the scrambled agg burrito with green salsa was extremely tasty and the plate large enough to fill but not to big to over face. The salsa was excellent, spicy and very authentic. We ended our meal with a shared plate of churros that were excellent! I will definitely return."

"Great food and great table service. Unfortunately the hostess needs to learn some manners. Her rudeness upon check in nearly ruined the meal. I would still go back though for the food and because the rest of the waitstaff was outstanding."

"Amazing drinks compliment the freshest Guac. The rest of the menu is competent. Loved the street corn side. My only complaint is that it's become a "scene". Make sure to make a reservation. A sincere thank you to the Manager for accommodating us because it was BUSY."
