"Basils offers a casual, low-key atmosphere and beautifully prepared Greek food. This restaurant says welcome from the moment you walk in past the waterfall and the flower lined sidewalk. Basils boasts a lovely outdoor dining area, an eat-in bar, and a spacious dining room.The staff are always cordial and accommodating. Whether you wear jeans or more formal dress, the servers at Basils will treat you attentively and respectfully. As repeat customers, we know that we will always enjoy a delightful Greek culinary experience. The Roasted Lamb keeps us coming back, and the Fisherman's Pasta is not to be missed!"

"we had a group of 8 initially seated indoors but as the weather was unexpectedly beautiful we asked to change to the patio and we were accommodated quickly & efficiently even though it was an inconvenience for the staff. Patio has a lovely ambiance and the music was especially appealing to my Greek friend, an added bonus! Dishes ranging from the saganaki to the shish kabob to the whitefish were all delicious. Unfortunately none of us had room for dessert so we will have to go return for that reason alone. Staff was very attentive. Would definitely return for either a group lunch or for a romantic dinner as the patio would look lovely with the lighted portico and fire pits burning."

"We have been eating here for years. The food is authentic Greek; everything fresh, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Service is outstanding and the prices are very reasonable. We usually choose Basil's for special events and holidays, including our daughter's bridal shower. We have eaten at several restaurants in Chicago's Greek Town. The food at Basil's (Aurora) is every bit as flavorful and authentic. The staff is friendly and professional, and the atmosphere cozy and comfortable. I highly recommend Basil's for great food, and a wonderful dining experience."

"We are regulars since Basil's opened and have spent the last four Greek Easters there, also. What a wonderful celebration feast from the red Easter Eggs to the tsoureki (traditional Easter sweet bread) to the traditional koulourakia that accompanied dessert."

"Basils is an outstanding place to dine. It is warm and friendly. We were so warmly welcomed. We were early at a very busy time, and we were very nicely accommodated. The service could not be better. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and outgoing. The food was just so beautifully prepared and was absolutely delicious. I cannot wait to go back to Basils again. I'm sure it will be very soon."

"Basil's has continued to step up their game and now boasts one of the best craft beer menu's in the area. For a limited time, they have "Grand Cru of the Emperor" on tap (only brewed once per year in February) and any beer aficionado should definitely make it a point to get in and try it before it's gone. Pair a great beer with a great dinner and you'll be happy you made the trip."

"Food and service are great. They always make you feel like you are special. The owners and managers always make sure that they talk to their customers like an old friend . "I ordered three of my typical and favorite Greek appetizers and found two of them to be quite tasteless while I must say the octopus serving was very fair for the price, fresh, and very well prepared - crispy outside and soft interior. However, I found the gyro to be bland and the tzatziki sauce accompanying it to be very blah. The dolmades were likewise bland. The service was nice and there is an outside seating area which is pleasant, but the surroundings are essentially a mall. The milk stout on tap was tasty and there is an extensive wine and beer list with various price points."

"Everyone in party had sandwich specials for lunch, and clearly it was disappointing for all guests. Undoubtedly, we would have been better with something directly off the regular menu.
Gyro panini lacked both flavor and the portion size of the meat on the sandwich was sparse. While I have eaten at this restaurant previously for dinner, with the food being above average for a Greek restaurant, lunch sandwiches could not be recommended.

Gyro panini lacked both flavor and the portion size of the meat on the sandwich was sparse. While I have eaten at this restaurant previously for dinner, with the food being above average for a Greek restaurant, lunch sandwiches could not be recommended.

"They have amazing Greek dishes. You can go for a light fare or dig in to their comfort food. Wish they had more desserts. Love the fact that they have a martini flight. This restaurant never disappoints. And for you American Airlines dining members, this restaurant is on the list. In this economy why not get the biggest bang for your buck. Gain airline miles while you dine on tasty cuisine."

"We were pleasantly surprised to see live Greek music on a Friday night! Celebrated my birthday, and not only was it fun, festive, family friendly, it was also romantic! Had the 5 thin lamb chops that were out of this world... some of the most tender and flavorful I have ever had. Highly recommend Basils. We will be going back just for the lamb chops!"

"The Mrs. & I went to Basils based from a good friends recommendation. Wow!! Flavorful dishes.... Saganaki is a must have appetizer. The Greek salad is very fresh and delicious. I had the roasted lamb shank which was "fall off the bone good". Wife had the Mediterranean pasta which is a light and flavorful dish. Wife had wine & I had stout beer they both complimented our meals. The wine and beer lists are awesome. We will definitely be back."

"Basil's continues to up it's game. Their already great menu, with all the traditional Greek fare, is complimented by great alternatives like Flatbread Pizza's, Pasta's & Hand Cut Steaks. There's something for everyone on their menu. Combine this with their vastly expanded Wine & Beer list and live music and you have a 5 Star dining experience. These guys have done a really nice job creating a gourmet Greek experience that is great for special occasions, but yet perfectly accepting of a last minute dinner choice when you're out and wearing jeans and your favorite old sweatshirt. Basil's is Greek Town quality with ample options for those who aren't looking for an ethnic dinner."

"Overall the food and service is good. My only issue with Basil's is that they have cheapened a few things since we have been here in the past. An example would be that they have replaced their pita bread with "pita chips" which are nothing more than a pita cracker which can be purchased at Trader Joe's. Secondly my wife and I ordered a glass of wine with our meal and we were lucky if we got a half glass of wine. I ordered the Gyros which was tasty but they only gave me one pita for nearly 8 ounces of meat. They charge an extra buck for another pita. Seems like highway robbery for a loaf of pita bread."

"This was a quick but happy change of plans. While taking out friends of ours with their 6 yr old we chose a nice chain restaurant, where we found it had an hour and a half wait. A quick check on OpenTable found out there was a table here. I had driven past several times but am always hesitant on restaurants near Malls as they tend to be for high turn over and poor on quality. Here it was very nice surprise, service staff was excellent, food was great and prices fair. The atmosphere was family friendly but also I could see couples being happy here. They had a good bar and wine selection. We shared a couple of appetizers the lamb meatballs stood out as a favorite. Serving sizes where generous as Greek dinning is known for. We will be back."

"Even on Valentines Day, the food and service at Basils was great. As a rule, my wife and I avoid going out on Valentines Day for obvious reasons: Limited menu, higher prices, bad service and long wait times. We ventured out with another couple anyway. Basils did not disappoint and we experienced NONE of the negative aspects of a usual Valentines Day experience.
What I found quite impressive was that even though Basils was unbelievably packed, the service was still great. Most impressive of all was the fact that Basils offered a special Valentines Day menu "along with" the option to order off the full menu as well - this was a pleasant surprise because I love their Mediterranean flatbread pizza.
Bottom line is Basils is always a pleas"

"This restaurant was not worth the money. The food did not meet expectations nor the relatively high cost. Presentation was an after-thought. Flavor lacked distinction and impact. Knowing that this day (Valentine's Day) was going to generate a larger crowd should have impelled the manager to schedule more wait staff, as those on hand were not servicing the tables adequately. Next time, I will simply bite the bullet and drive into Chicago to get quality Greek cuisine."

"We've never had a bad meal at Basil's including this one. The food is always tasty and priced reasonably. Something new is always on the menu and we just enjoy coming here. The entire staff is friendly and helpful.
