"We made a reservation, but when we got to the restaurant it was a private party and restaurant was not open for the public. Nobody called to inform us about the event."

"As always, the service make the difference, and Equinox did a really nice job . . . particularly for a very busy evening. My spouse started with a simple salad, and I ordered the calamari. Both were very good, particularly the calamari. For the main course, my spouse had the mussels and I had the burger with bacon. For a town with excellent burgers, this one held it's own. The highlight was the mussels, as they were plumb and juicy. Plus, the sauce was so good that we took it home and used it for a stir fry the next day. Wow. That was delicious too. Thanks, Equinox. We finished with the fresh apple crisp, which was sized perfectly to end a meal."

"We started with the calamari and a mixed green salad. Both were delicious and sized just right for the two of us. My spouse had the mussels and I had the burger with bacon. In a town with many great hamburgers, this one holds its own for sure. It came with fries, which - again - were sized right for the meal, as I was plenty satisfied. The highlight though were the mussels . . . tender and the broth was so good that we took it home to enhance another meal. Equinox was pretty busy, yet our server was properly attentive and paced the meal well. We finished with the fresh apple crisp, that was sized perfectly and very tasty! Well done, Equinox! In addition, we did watch the sunset against the trees and it was very picturesque."

"We are VERY glad we used Open Table for our Mother's Day brunch reservation! There was a long line of folks who didn't have one, so it was quite nice to be escorted right to our table. They even had a red rose for my wife, as a Mother's Day gift. A nice touch!
The food was really good. My wife had a vegetarian scramble, which she really enjoyed. I had the creme brulee French toast, which was delicious...though it was just 1 modestly-sized slice. While I didn't leave hungry, I definitely could have fit in another slice. :-)
This was our first brunch at Equinox, as we've always come for dinner, in the past. But we'll definitely be back for more brunches. Their patio is amazing, and there's tons to do on Mississippi, before & after."

"We had a reservation for 8 o'clock, but weren't seated till 8:30 and were pretty much ignored by the person at the receptin desk, who was mostly busy doing clean up and set up. We later heard her say that she was ignoring the reservations and just sticking them on the same list as everyone else. Granted it was Saturday night. The food here is great and well presented. Our server was pleasant and efficient, but the non-communication at reception needs to change."

"the air temp was perfect outdoors, the food was outstanding and this place is in my friend's neighborhood, too boot. The reservation was fine, but when we arrived we found out that Open Table reservations are not for the patio and we went to Equinox b/c it had a patio so we had to wait for a table.. not a bad wait though by Portland standards, especially with the help of Porltandia Martini."

"We made reservations through open table for 730. When we arrived (on time) the restaurant was packed and didn't seem to have any reservation book and the host just said they were really busy and would put out name on the list. After a thirty minute wait we were seated and drink orders were taken. Drinks didn't come until first course about 20 minutes later. All the food was quite good until my main course' spaetzle and salmon which took approximately 30 minutes to arrive after the first course. This dish was so salty I couldn't eat it and I normally enjoy food a bit saltier than most. The garden dining was beautiful as always' but Overall a disappointing experience. We won't return soon."

"Almost 15 minutes before our drinks came then another 30 before our starter came. Had the chicken with marscapone/balsamic, chicken was VERY dry but still tasty. Waited another almost 20 minutes before our entree came. Had the beet salad, plain and the beets were not cooked through. I ordered the pork loin DRY only ate a third of it. Husband got the lamb stew which was an overcooked mess. There were only about 7 other tables but we were there almost 2 hours!!! I don't mind paying $100 for a really good dinner/drinks but when the food was mediocre/bad it left a really bad taste in my mount! no pun intended. We ate there on May 2nd. We both really liked the feel of the place.....good vibe and decor! Was it a bad night?"

"Equinox is in the hip and cool Mississippi neighborhood in North Portland. It's around the corner from the buzz so you feel like you found your little hideaway with a great patio for outdoor dining. Wait staff always friendly and food great. We are loyal customers who love our neighborhood gems. Equinox is genuinely one of them!"

"Though we ha been here before a handful of times, we had not when the weather was nice enough to utilize the patio dining, until now. And the patio was wonderful. Of course the food and cocktails were awesome, as we were expecting."

"The food is well-prepared with hearty portions. The wines are good and reasonably priced. We tried a cocktail made of lilac syrup gin lime soda and grenadine which was amazing. The service is swift but also low-key. On a nice evening the outside patio is lovely."

"I've been to Equinox several times over the past 2-3 years and recently tried their brunch. Service is good, as is the food, wine list and cocktails. At brunch, I ordered a Bloody Mary and it was delicious -- an abundance of condiments, veggies, and the right dash of spice!"

"We loved the diverse local wine selection although they were out of the first two bottles we wanted. The menu was short but still made it difficult to choose from the fabulous locally sourced entrees. We enjoyed the grilled bread appitizer, grilled pork loin, and sheppard's pie special for St. Patrick's day. We'd love to return and enjoy the patio when it gets warmer."

"I've been to Equinox for brunch twice, and I loved it both times. They had great breakfast food, reasonable prices and yummy drink options. This was my first time that I have attended for dinner. The prices were notably higher. I think my entree was $17, which seemed a little too high. Our waitress acted impatient that it was taking my group a while to decide what we wanted – this seemed strange since there were only a few other full tables in the restaurant. We enjoyed our food and dining experience, but wished it was a little more inexpensive."

"I took my three favorite valentines there and we were seated in the Blue Room, a private salon off the open main dining room. The wood paneling was warm and friendly and the energetic dining room atmosphere was apparent but somewhat muted, making for a wonderfully private and romantic dining experience. The four course meal offerings were delightful and varied so that everyone had opportunities to try something different. I loved the titles for the drink and food menu options which mirrored this special romantic day. An excellent find for Valentines Day! I look forward to experiencing outside dining during warmer weather on their spacious patio."

"This was our first trip to Equinox and generally it was a good experience. We ate early and it was quiet. The menu is well balanced and we chose easily. The appetizers were both fine, a lamb stew entree was imaginative and quite good though a fish course didn't fare as well. We were disappointed in the service, plenty of personnel, but in that the house was quiet they decided to be distracted with lots of personal conversation. We were left to do a lot of hand waving! I will say though that once there our server was quite pleasant. Wine and beer selections were fine and all food and drinks were priced well. They have a great outdoor space that will be a win in the summer."

"At 5 o'clock on Valentine's Day the reataurant was nearly empty and the waitstaff seemed bored. We recieved our three courses quickly, but we had no desire to stay in the restaurant any longer than we needed to. We're not interested in dining here again."

"Everything was delicious! Me and my fiancee shared the Roasted Acorn Squash salad and she had a glass of the 2010 Vina Gormez Red with the Red Snapper, while I had the Sazerac Cocktail with the Fettucine Bolognese. The service was excellent; attentive without being intrusive. We were very glad to have made a reservation through OpenTable as the restaurant was full and some people without reservations were being told they couldn't be seated or would have to wait more than an hour for a table.
We used a Groupon (always remember to tip on the ORIGINAL amount, everybody!) and likely wouldn't have tried Equinox if we hadn't. Now that we've been there, we'll definitely come again!"

"My wife and I celebrated her birthday at Equinox. We both had the mixed greens salad. She had the Chickpea Crepes with a wonderful filling. I had Grilled Chicken with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Both entrees were great. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, helpful. I had a nice Sirah and we both finished up with the Mocha with whipped cream. A delightful evening. We've been before and the last experience reinforced our decision to return."

"We go to Equinox about once every 3 or 4 months, and always have a consistent experience. This is rarely accomplished by other restaurants. We both had the grilled ceasar salad, which is very well prepared. It's probably the best in town since Lucy's Table closed. My spouse had the special ravioli. It was very rich, yet she ate all of it. I had the bacon hamburger, which is my typical order at Equinox. It was prepared perfectly and is very tasty. Honorable mention goes to the french fries!"

"Got a reservation, got there early, but they wanted to put us at the lousiest table in the place (right by the front door in the teeth of the wind). We chose the bar instead and finally after 5-10 minutes of nary an acknowledgement from the bar staff - I guess orders from the other two people at the bar were overwhelming them - a very kind waitress stepped in and saved us. Luckily the best seat in the house opened up and we snagged it just as our dishes arrived. The great food and our waitress super hero's six star service pulled this visit out of the flames."
