Spice 28 specializes in Szechuan and Asian fusion cuisines with a full bar that offers signature cocktails and a wide selection of wines and beers. Our Cuisines feature traditional authentic Szechuan cuisines, and fusion of Japanese, Malaysian, Thai and Chinese cuisines. Not only our food are rich in flavors, and spices, they are also authentic and creative. You will find some of the most authentic dishes in modern plating, but you will also find the unique cuisine that you will not find elsewhere. Also, the important is that the restaurant was designed by an architect and newly built. The atmosphere is very hip, modern and vibrant. The service is excellent, prompt and friendly. You will not be disappointed.
"Hadn't heard about this place before but took a punt on it - exceed my highest expectations. Great food, ambiance, and a well stocked bar. And the prices were surprisingly reasonable. A+"

"We were looking for a restaurant close to the Marriott downtown hotel when we found this on Opentable. The food was excellent and the service was great. Spicy means spicy."

"The service and cuisine belies any negatives in the prior reviews in our view. The food was outstanding, fresh, flavorful and imaginative. The drinks were great and the setting is really lovely. Service was flawless. This is worth the visit and the parking challenge in the highly visited 13th & Chesnut corridor. Go for it - you wont' be sorry if you like really fine Asian/Thai food. Really terrific."

"Everything I ordered with my friends at Spice 28 was delicious. We ordered chili oil wontons, drunken noodles, panang curry style with chicken, and hot sauce style (their favorite Sichuan style) with beef. My favorite was the latter which was infused with coriander and included scallions and what appeared to be leeks. I would recommend this venue highly for any small group or a date night. There was also an extensive cocktail and beer menu with imported Asian beers. I usually frown upon establishments who claim to be "fusion," but Spice 28 does it with finesse."

"This dining experience was very disappointing. The service was awful, even though there was no one in the restaurant we waited about an hour for our lunch. The food was NOT worth the wait. It was very, very medicre. I would not go back."

"The restaurant was very attractive - modern with clean lines. Service was great. Food very good although presentation could have been a little better. Dessert very disappointing as they serve commercially prepared Italian items. Would definately go back."

"We visited Spice 28 recently and the food was very good. Noise level per my rating in Open Table is "Energetic" but it is more on the very loud side. Would recommend especially for a younger crowd. Modern styled room. Too loud for romantic dinner, but overall food was very good."

"We made reservations for a group of 6. Then 8, then 10, then 12. The person taking the reservations just said don't worry about it, we will fit as many of you as possible. The servers were wonderful and they knew we had a deadline as well and made sure we were out in time. The food was delicious and there were entrees for every taste. A definite recommendation!"

"We've had two pre-theater meals here, and I think it's a good place for pan Asian cuisine. Like the spicy cucumber appetizer, the drunken noodles, thai basil fried rice and cumin spiced entrees."

"The food was okay but the service was horrible. I think because they are new they are working out the bugs, but it was slow, they screwed up our order several times and it was impossible to get a server for refills etc. We won't be going back."

"We were pleasantly surprised by the food choices and the feel of this restaurant. It is Asian fusion and when we got there I was surprised to see many tables with Asian speaking clientele. This was a good sign! The food was fantastic. We had the mini wontons, vegetable spring rolls, chicken lettuce wraps and roasted tomato and cheese salad. For an entree we had chicken pad Thai. It was amazing. Highly recommend this trendy but solid restaurant."

"Everything was phenominal from the apps to the entree's to the deserts. You have to have the Tuna Wontons!! We had a variety of food from shrimp to beef and it was all delicious. My Daughter is a beginner vegetarian and LOVED this restaurant. We can't wait to return. Thank you for a wonderful evening."

"Food was very good, fresh and artistically presented. In fact, my bf liked his dinner so much we made a return visit less than a week later. The staff is friendly and helpful suggesting menu items you might like and so far, they were right on the money. This place is truly a hidden gem!"

"I went for Valentines day with my husband. He has a sophisticated pallat and was pleased with my choice to bring him there. - The pad-thai was delicious - the service was quick and friendly - the seating was comfortable - the prices were very reasonable - the decor was interesting and trendy
I have no complaints! It was a great dinner and the left overs were just as good!"

"I'm hoping that once this place gets it's feet firmly planted (only been open for 6 months) things will get better but I'm not planning to go back.
First of all, we were seated for over 20 minutes without even being offered water. When our server finally did come over they didn't even acknowledge the wait. When we asked for suggestions since the menu is HUGE she wasn't able to give us any.
I ended up getting the panang curry which was actually delicious but it was the only thing that we got which we liked. The "crispy" duck was soggy and everything else was lack luster."

"Service was terrible. During restaurant week, they had an extensive menu so there was a lot to choose from and most of it looked very good. Unfortunately, there were not enough servers and they were not very professional. The food was tasty but definitely spicy so if you like that then you won't be disappointed."

"I went for restaurant week with 3 friends from work. They accommodated our group very well and were very prompt with service. The food that was offered felt like much though was put into it. Also they didn't skimp on the portions just because it was restaurant week like many other restaurants do. We had a great time the only thing I wish they had done differently is have more Asian inspired desserts. The desserts where good dont get me wrong but they where Italian. It just felt off."

"This restaurant lives up to its name. Order conservatively when choosing spiciness level. We ordered one dish that was level 2 out of 3 and found it loaded with fiery hot peppers. Otherwise food and service were very satisfactory."

"I went to Spice during restaurant week as me and my friends always try to do something different. The food was simply AMAZING!!!! From the First Course to Desert. The cocktail was even a winner. I just warn you to be mindful of the spicy level noted on the menu. I happen to love spicy and they def lived up to it! My brother in law was literally sweating but wouldn't stop eating because the food is so fresh and good. I'll be going back next week. This will be my new hot spot."

"While the place was very modern and clean, the wait-staff was quite disheveled and ignorant. I had a reservation, which I could see on the screen, and they argued that it wasn't there. Once I was finally seated, and looked at the menu, I had a question about how something was prepared, to which the waiter answered "Um, I don't know" and didn't offer to check. When it finally came to dessert, not only were they out of 1 of the 3 possible desserts for restaurant but they got my order wrong. Everything was delicious but the service was atrocious."

"The food was excellent and plentiful! A group of my girls and I went for restaurant week and enjoyed a four course meal. Everything was very flavorful and they had this amazing drink called "Passionate Kiss". I will definitely be returning. My only disappointment was with my order of the "blue crab fajita". It had no crab in it lol."

"The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and the presentation of the food. We went at a very good time (2PM during Restuarant Week) so it wasn't packed nor did we have to wait long for our food. The location isn't ideal on the outside (13th and Chestnut leaves a lot to be desired), but once inside you feel like you're in a spot on 16th & Walnut. Good options for an Asian Fusion spot. They do not have beer, so you are limited to mixed drinks (which are somewhat pricey). Overall I would make this place a suggestion for lunch on a Saturday afternoon or maybe even an early dinner."

"We dined last night and ate off of the Restaurant Week menu. My husband made "safe" choices and was very satisfied, although the dipping sauces for the blue crab fajitas were spicier than anticipated. I wanted to try new and unique items and was disappointed. I wanted a non-alcholic cocktail and was told that the alcoholic cocktails could not be modified to a non-alcholic choice, so I drank water. I ordered the green curry shrimp, and while it was tasty, it was very spicy; much more spicy than I was expecting given the "1" next to it on the menu. I mentioned it to the waitress was her response was "ok, sorry." The spice level of the items should have been explained in advance. My lips were on fire and I was wishing that I had chapstick."

"Went for restaurant week and the food was definitely great! They had an array of options and portion size was perfect if not more than enough. They got our appetizer salad wrong, and it just took a long time for us to get our food b/c they had to fix it, and after that everything seemed to come out slower. Also I would say the spice level of mild hot and spicy was a little inaccurate, some food was a lot spicer than had been rated. Otherwise, it was a good experience for a date."

"We visited spice 28 for lunch, when we were seated we were informed that only the dinner option for restaurant week was being offered. If we had wanted to eat a larger sized meal we could have gone many different places. The bait and switch that occurred here left a bad taste in our mouths."
