The Goodwin is the newest addition to the West Village restaurant scene. Once a tobacco farm in the 1600's, the restaurant pays heritage to its roots through the ambiance and menu. The Goodwin is seeking appeal of neighborhood locals and foodies alike through perfecting classic American staples.

"great for groups and a cool scene: the dining room is nicely appointed and the staff is super friendly. as the courses came out, there was a lot of confusion over who ordered what which bugged a little. main complaint is the 90s era musak. they need to do something a lot cooler with the soundtrack. otherwise, i would recommend for sure. tables for 6 abound."

"The Goodwin was an excellent choice - the food was terrific, the ambience and decor was warm and engaging. My only reservation, the table for three was a little awkward for seating, not quite enough legroom, but the food and service made up for this minor inconvenience."

"Such a great find! The chill ambiance alone made me want to go back. I love having dinner out and not going hoarse shouting over the din. The food was quite good, especially the short rib paparadelle. Dessert was so-so, but everything else was great. I will definitely go back."

"The Goodwin is an instant classic -- sophisticated food (without being over the top), enough interesting choices to liven up a menu, everything we ordered was delicious (most of all the octopus salad -- no one should leave without having at least one). Service was refreshingly fun and kindly! It is a new, trendy place without the hallmark of new, trendy places -- bad service by disaffected hipsters. And the space is gorgeous. Well done all."

"My husband and I discovered The Goodwin as the perfect place right by home for great cocktails, wines and champagne, as well as oysters, after a movie or quick date. We have a toddler son and don't get out often, so we appreciate any time we get to find new neighborhood spots. We were wildly impressed by our first visit, and finally made it for dinner to fete my husband's birthday. The Goodwin is now one of favorite restaurants, offering exceptional food, drink, staff and service. Unpretentious, knowledgeable, charming and friendly, every member of the staff takes pride in their role running such a great place for drinks, wine and food."

"With very few people dining at the time, service was still very slow. Food was very overpriced for the amount and overall taste. Won't be going back. The actual setting is very pretty - it's too bad that the quality of the food doesn't match the setting."

"Food isn't great, service is ok but yhr back room is spectacular looking despite that it's too tight and way too noisy. This was my third time there and the third time that the entrees came out over 30mins after the appetizer plates were cleared-not good at all."
