"The view is gorgeous. The food was pretty good for midwest seafood, but it didn't meet the expectations of some of the other reviews we saw online. With that being said, it might be the best in the area."

"This restaurant has an excellent view of a large span of the Lake of the Ozarks. The views from the dinning tables are excellent as well. The food quality was outstanding, and exceeded every expectation. The plating was also very elegant. The price is slightly higher compared with most restaurants in the area, however it is well worth it. This is an excellent place for special occasion dinners. The attire is casual, although one would not feel out of place wearing a nice suit. The atmosphere is fantastic, having a nice open dining room filled with a great view. Overall, this would be one of the finer restaurants around the Lake of the Ozarks"

"We dined here for lunch. It was my 18 year-old son and his friend. They loved their meals (had seafood, as well as steak tips) and I had the BEST oysters I have ever had! They were fresh, huge, juicy and the horseradish was phenomenal! Incredible view was merely the topper!"

"Service was exceptional - attentive but not overbearing, great recommendations for new dishes to try. Fish and steak were perfectly cooked; the raspberry hollandaise was a delicious surprise. Also recommend the salmon bisque. A bit pricey, but wouldn't miss dinner here if visiting Lake of the Ozarks."

"When we come to Hooks we always ask for Anthony!! He's an amazing server and he always remember us. He was swamped Friday when we were there but he did a tremendous job taking care of everyone. "Easter dinner at a seafood place? It worked for these empty nesters visiting the lake for our anniversary weekend. We were suprised that the restaurant was not as crowded as we expected and were seated immediately. Service was prompt and accurate. Each of us thought our meals were outstanding - my wife had the Chicken Oscar while I had the grilled ahi. The tuna seemed to just melt in my mouth. The view of the lake from the lower dining room was superb, although it did get a bit warm when the sun broke through the clouds."

"French fries were not cut up potatoes but something with a weird texture and a lot of spice type coating (obviously something from the freezer)--which which surprised me given the reputation of the restaurant. The salmon bisque was fabulous if a bit too cool for my taste. The ravioli was out of this world good."

"The food was excellent and the service was good. However, we had a reservation for 6:00 and you over booked and we ended up sitting down stairs by the bar area. That would not have been a problem as the view was great and the area was not too busy. It seemed like every five minutes there was a page for some ones reservation or table. It became very annoying and it was loud enough that we were forced to wait on our conversations until the page stopped. I assume the area we were seated is overflow, if there is a way to lower the volume of the paging system it would have made a more enjoyable dining experience. This was the first time we have been to J.B. Hooks and inspite of the annoying page system we would consider returning. Bob K"

"My wife and I were out of town on Valentines Day. We had been JB Hooks and enjoyed our meal. I made a reservation due to Valentines Day. When we arrived we were met and the door and my wife was presented a rose. This was a great start to the evening. The waiter was informative and gave good recommendations. The meal was excellent. It was prepared correctly with good flavor. After our meal unexpectantly we were served Chocolate covered Strawberry. They were excellant and a great way to end the meal."

"We enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. The hostess was very polite and seated us very quickly. Our server was fair and that is where the issue came about. We were not the only table waiting for our wine which arrived at both tables as we were finishing dinner. That really put a damper on the experience. The food was amazing. They did very well with presentation, too. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and hopefully the server has more training on paying attention to detail as well as being adept at serving when only 4 tables are occupied."

"My two sisters and I surprised our mother on her 80th birthday by flying in and spending the weekend with her. We decided to take her to J B Hooks as we have dined there before. The staff and management coordinated flowers being delivered and a custom cake delivered as well. Rich, our server was fantastic. He handled every thing flawlessly. The food was perfect, the timing perfect and the overall experience was fantastic. I would recommend J B Hooks for a great time, great meal anytime!"
