Isabel Pearl is a stunning, fresh, modern and spacious neighborhood eatery where sunlight streams through the windows even on the cloudiest of days. Isabel Pearl's comfortable ambiance is a popular spot for breakfast meetings, lunch breaks, and romantic dinners; all the while providing nourishment with bold, healthy, flavorful meals. Isabel Cruz serves up food for the body and soul.
"Loved the menu, they really offered a little bit of everything to fit anyone's food preferences/diet restrictions. Everyone at the table had something different and there wasn't anything we wouldn't order again. If they offered outdoor seating, I would definitely recommend this place -- however if they simply open the large windows and have seating inside. . . I'd have to say don't go there if you're wanting to visit with your table-mate(s). The building structure is entirely open with cement and glass, therefore the loud din of everyone trying to converse above the table next door, makes it very difficult to have a conversation without having to either talk very loud and/or ask your dining partner to repeat themselves often."

"A friend and I were passing through PDX on a short roadtrip. My fave restaurant was booked out so we tried Isabel Pearl instead. Some things just work out for the best as this place was a REAL GEM. They get the basics spot on: Delicious, wholesome and affordable (not "cheap" - but a terrific value for under $20 per person for dinner). Additional bonuses: Apparently they grow much of their own produce on a local organic-method farm nearby; One side of the building's glass walls tip out to offer the feeling of outdoor dining without being entirely exposed; The menu items are culinary creations - interesting (in a good way) - and all at this price. We were impressed, and I would definitely go here again next time I was in PDX."

"Had a Living Social deal but I won't go out of my way to eat there again. Nothing was particularly wrong, it was just very average. The portions were small and for the most part tasted very bland."

"The restaurant was bustling. Good spot to pop in for lunch or a bite after work. There was a unique combination of flavors in the Brazilian bowl...adding coconut rice to the beans and rice combo. Our favorite, though was the pork carnitas, with just the right amount of crispy bits wrapped in corn tortillas. We did feel like the prices were a bit high for the food."

"was surprised when my husband and i arrived for dinner to find it was more of a casual cafe than a restaurant. food was a bit on the bland side and my roast chicken was over-cooked and dry. service was ok, but overall, think it's overpriced for what it is."

"I like this menu. It's the same as Dragonfly in Ashland where we like to eat as a vacationing group because of the tasty fusion selections that are fresh and healthy. There is something for everyone. The house gin is Boodles--that's impressive. ALthough the first martini I ordered was very watery (I know my martinis)--they did fix it upon request, however. Service was only ok. Server seemed confused and not very attentive to our party of 8 even though the house was about a third full. As more staff arrived it got better so perhaps she was overwhelmed. Noise level is awful. I would pick this place frequently because of the menu and handy location near the Gerding theater, but every time I go I'm reminded of the bothersome noise level."

"Conveniently located close to Portland Center Stage. Lunch cafe atmosphere with fine dining prices in the evening;the food is innovative and tasty. Noisy as there are just glass windows and no carpeting or soft furniture. Fresh fish! Happy Hour is worthwhile too. Some service lapses but the bartender knew how to resolve everything!"

"Although we went in the winter, we could see that the walls of glass can open up for a totally outdoor experience. The food here was AMAZING. I got the Salmon and my husband got the Steak--both were very tasty, perfect texture, not overcooked, fresh vegetables and a creative twist of coconut rice and fried bananas, respectively, as the starch--super tasty! We would definitely go again."

"It took over a half hour to get our food. The server never checked in with us during that time. Overall, the food was good but I was very unimpressed with the service."

"Uncomfortable chairs. Might be good for a half hour lunch but not a date night diner. Also really loud. All the hard surfaces make it too loud to hold a quiet conversation."

"The waitress was a bit surly (for the second time - we also had her last visit) and my breakfast was disappointing. This was actually the first time I've been disappointed with my food order. My husband's pancakes looked and tasted great, but I ordered the coconut french toast and was disappointed in the portion size (two small pieces of french baguette slices) related to the price of $11.00."

"Not too impressed with this place. I purchased a daily deal and was excited to try out a restaurant so close to where I live. The food was mediocre and wasn't worth the price. If I wouldn't have had the daily deal, I don't think I would have paid full price for the food. The service was very good though and our waiter was friendly."
