As you enter the dining room through the glass-paned French doors from the library, a feeling of warmth and elegance beckons you to enjoy leisurely fine dining. A bow window allows dinner guests to view the beautiful flowers that surround Carnegie Inn & Spa and the woods surrounding the golf course. China, crystal, and silver grace the tables on crisp white table linen along with bouquets of fresh flowers. Servers are attentive in providing for the needs of the guests who dine on Contemporary European Cuisine.
From daily breakfasts to elegantly prepared hors d'oeuvres and dinner selections, dining at Carnegie Inn & Spa is as spectacular as it is relaxing. The Library invites casual conversation while savoring a favorite cocktail or glass of wine from the Wine Spectator award winning selection.
"My wife and I loved the relaxed and wonderful dining experience. We have dined here a few times before and we are never disappointed. It was a second time for our anniversary and the food choices were fantastic both times. The seafood selections were our favorites and they were made just right and were very delicious! The wine list was first class.I also had long stemmed roses delivered in a large vase and it was on the table with plenty of room ti spare with our setting when seated. The whole experience and ambiance was wonderful. I highly recommend this establishment for all ocassions!"

"Impeccable service, great food, extensive wine list. Worth the price. Lamb lollies were great as was the lobster bisque. Bisque was much better than the version served at the Nittany Lion Inn. We'll be back."

"Everything was perfect. Love the fact that you relax in the library over drinks and place your order. Then once the first course is ready you are escorted to your table and your food is promptly brought out. The lobster bisque was to die for. All of our entrees were exceptional. You weren't rush thru your meal. And the cappuccino and desert or glass of single malt scotch was the perfect end to a perfect evening. Loved it so much a booked a suite and dinner package for later this summer immediately after dinner! Can't wait to come back."

"The entire Carnegie House restaurant experience is first class and utterly relaxing. Upon arrival, you are ushered into the library for cocktails and to peruse the menu. It was a cool evening when we were there, and the fireplace gave off some welcome warmth. While sipping our cocktails, a small appetizer arrived from the chef. We were seated when our salads were ready to be served. There is plenty of space between tables and the view of the golf course and cascading wisteria on the pergola give the Carnegie House restaurant an elegant and refined feel. The prices are a bit steep, but the overall experience is exceptional."

"My wife and I try to have dinner here at least once every time we are in town. I would say it is hands down the most elegant restaurant in the State College area. The food is great and artfully presented and the servers are friendly and skilled in the art of service. An extensive wine list is fairly priced. On arriving one is seated in a lovely library with a fireplace and upholstered chairs chairs and couches for cocktails and for ordering dinner. Once dinner is ready you are seated in the dinning room. Expensive but worth it."

"Went there for a graduation dinner; looked at the online menu and found many choices; only found out after being seated in the library that it was a limited menu; and was it limited. Could have been told that when they called to confirm days beforehand. Items were very expensive for what they were; not outstanding in the least. While the greeting received at the door was welcoming, we were immediately placed in holding area in the middle of the lobby. A very polite gentleman saw us sitting there and immediately took us to the library with many places to sit. While trying to figure out what we wanted to drink the waitress could not have been more rude; that set a very very bad tone. Overall, a bad experience and would not recommend."

"Our luncheon was the start of a graduation weekend, with multi-generation family gathering. We had a wonderful table awaiting our group, beautiful flowers on the table, gracious waitstaff, and the menu offering a nice variety of delicious items for everyone's taste. The noise level in the dining was very low; we were able to have conversations that everyone was able to hear. We plan to come back again soon."

"We hadn't been to the Carnegie House in more than a decade and so it was great when we received a gift card from a friend. We couldn't wait to use it. We were not disappointed. Everything was fine. Well, almost. The portions were so big that we had to skip dessert. :-)"

"What a wonderful dining experience. Relaxing in the library with cocktails until our food order was ready to be served is unique. One of the best Cosmopolitans I've ever had, by the way. Service was elegant and totally unobtrusive. The lobster bisque had big chunks of meat and was silky smooth. Rack of lamb & Sea bass were both perfectly prepared. I'm looking forward to returning again and again!"

"The Carnegie House Restaurant has a very nice tradition of offering a cocktail and Hors d'oeuvre in their library when you first arrive. You can sit back in deep cushions, relax, sip your drink, converse, and enjoy a roaring fire in the fireplace. On some nights there's a pianist at the keyboard. Also, while comfortably seated you have a chance to view the menu and place your order. Once the first course is ready to be served you are ushered to your table in the dining room. (I imagine that this is what it's like to be rich!) The food is somewhere between very good and outstanding. I'm a bit of a food snob, but while I've had meals that are more refined and complex in "big city" restaurants, we loved every bite of every course."

While enjoying a cocktail, a back-lit menu is presented and your order is taken while lounging by the fireplace. Amuse-bouche was also provided while we enjoyed our drinks and waited to be seated.
Once seated at table, the food came quite quickly. Apps were good. Entrees were also good, but portions small. I didn't try dessert.
I would recommend this restaurant to someone looking for fine dining in State College."

"Very special dining experience. After being seated in the comfortable library, you order wine or a cocktail and are served complementary hors d'ouevres while looking at the menu and ordering. When your first course is ready, you are the seated at your table. This was especially nice since I was traveling alone and could enjoy my book in the library comfortably until my dinner was ready. Even so, I could see that groups were comfortable with this arrangement as well. I ordered the Chilean sea bass with crab meat which was cooked perfectly - lightly crispy on the top and buttery soft inside. I was traveling across the state and stopped there for the night but I would definitely make a special trip to enjoy the experience again."

"Service very slow and unorganized. They do not seat you til your first course arrives,. so you are eating your appetizers in the lounge. I did not enjoy that."

"We have dined here a number of times and have generally found the food to be excellent. My $46 a la carte steak was very good, almost as tasty as at the Texas Roadhouse. My wife could not appreciate her chicken dish. The $32 price would have been fine if the recipe for almond crusted chicken had actually made the dish taste better. However, the chicken was placed immediately on top of a thin layer of mashed sweet potato, and this was not pleasing at all. We stopped at Chick Fila later so she would have something to eat. The $14 dessert had a dish of liquid chocolate which was very nice, but was flanked by chunks of pound cake and some cut up fruit."

"I enjoyed our dinner at the Carnegie, however, we were not seated in the dining room and I was disappointed by that. Food was great, service was great, ambiance not so much. It was a fine evening, but for the price, they should limit their seating to only the dining room. I made my reservations months in advance and expected to be in the dining room."
