Gramercy Tavern
One of America’s most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed guests for close to two decades to enjoy seasonal American cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service. The restaurant is perennially ranked at the top of Zagat Survey’s ‘Most Popular’ list, and has garnered eight James Beard Awards including ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and ‘Best Chef: NYC’. Chef Michael Anthony’s highly seasonal menu consists of elegant dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationships with local farms and purveyors.
The Main Dining Room serves prix-fixe menus starting at $92 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch, and accepts reservations 28 days in advance.
The more casual Tavern serves an a la carte menu centered around the wood burning grill, and welcomes guests on a walk-in basis. The restaurant also features an acclaimed wine list, and thoughtfully selected beer and cocktail offerings.

"Gramercy Tavern is one of my "go to" restaurants in New York. It's tried and true, beautifully decorated for every season, has fresh, in-season food, knowledgeable/savvy staff and simply never disappoints.
If you haven't been here, give it a try. You'll be a convert, I'm sure. I truly can't think of one thing even remotely negative about this place. One suggestion, however ... When you go, don't plan anything else that evening. This is a dining "experience", and would/should take 3 hours to completely appreciate.

"Although a little out of the way for the typical businessman, I find it worthwhile to make the trek down to the Flatiron area for the occasional business lunch with customers (who are also willing to trek) and potential employees. The restaurant oozes success and yet doesn't flaunt it - the service is just right as is the food. Most importantly, you can have a discussion without fighting to hear or be heard, which is too true at many other "typical" business lunch locales."

"My husband and I were in town for less than 24 hours and had time for a quick lunch before our meetings. So glad we chose Gramercy Tavern! This classic restaurant sets and continues to exceed dining standards with fresh, cool menu items, a super-creative and interesting By-the-Glass wine list and stellar table service. The entire waitstaff was friendly, knowledgable and extremely professional. The cold asparagus soup, fluke tartare and ramp custard (!) we're delicious starters and the halibut and sous vide chicken entrees were perfectly done. Fabulous lunch and we can't wait to return!!"

"I knew Gramercy Tavern was the place to take my girlfriend for her birthday and she loved it as much as I did. I loved the ambiance and the food was spectacular. The waiters and staff were so polite and nice. I thought the restaurant had a lot of great features but the main one I enjoyed were the before and after palet cleansers they would give you. The desserts were to die for and the food was amazing. I had the bass as an entree, a ramp custard as an appetizer and a chocolate orange bread pudding for dessert and it was amazing love to go back again"

"Lunch tasting is quite a deal! I can't imagine they make much off of it, but all the better for us. All the courses I had were prepared with great care, no mean feat for a restaurant serving +100 people. My server was super professional, but a bit stiff for my taste. I would have liked him a lot more too if I didn't have to wait half an hour for my check!"

"We were looking very much forward to dine at Gramercy Tavern. Unfortunately it was a huge disapointment. It seemed like the staff just wanted to get rid of us, serving us in a hectic tempo so they could sell the table fast to the next party. Service was rude and we could hardly finish a course before the next came in. Maybe they have been absorbed by their own succes. I couldn't recommend it to others. The food was just ok, but I had expected more."

"This was first time dining at grammercy tavern....what a dinner and the memories will live on for a long time.... Kind staff.... Generous surprises to the diners.... "Gramercy Tavern has been an excellent restaurant from its beginnings, and we always enjoy our visits. The food is exquisite, and unlike many restaurants, this is true for every course. And the servers are uniformly outstanding-they always have the customer's happiness foremost in their work. I never write reviews, but the all around excellence of Gramercy compelled me to write one."

"What else can I say? Our love affair with Gramercy Tavern has been going on for almost 15 years now. We've enjoyed so many wonderful dining experience around the world, but I always come back to Gramercy Tavern as the place that not only does every aspect of the dining experience perfectly, but leaves me feeling as though I have spent the evening with the best of friends, totally pampered, and delighted by exquisite food and wine knowledge and preparation. Whenever anyone asks us for the one place we would recommend in New York City, Gramercy Tavern is it (noting that it is not inexpensive, but well worth the price)."

"Dined at the Gramercy Tavern for the 40th birthday of my husband and his twin sister. We were seated promptly, even though a couple of members of our party were running a little late. The food and the service were very good, and we really enjoyed our evening. However, I was a little disappointed that there was no acknowledgement of the birthday, even though the hostess mentioned it when she called to confirm out reservation. Despite this, I would still go back to the Gramercy Tavern as it really was a good dining experience, though I'm not sure I'd return for a special occasion."
