Welcome to Ethiopian Diamond Restaurant!
Dining in Ethiopia is characterized by the ritual breaking of injera and eating from the same plate, signifying the bonds of loyalty and friendship.
Injera, the traditional Ethiopian bread, is part of every entree. It is pancake-like bread on which the various stew dishes are served. The traditional way of eating it is with your fingers, which in itself is a delicate art. A bite sized piece of the injera is broken off to pick up a mouth full of the chosen dish.
Ethiopian dishes are characterized by the variety of spices from which they get their exotic taste. Watt is a stew that comes in the form of beef, lamb, chicken, fish and vegetables. These range from spicy watt to very mild. The mildly seasoned watt is called Alicha.
Ethiopian Diamond Restaurant all dishes are free from artificial coloring, artificial flavoring and artificial preservatives. We use vegetable oil in all vegetarian dishes, No butter, no eggs, no milk, no honey.
"Eating Ethiopian-style is always fun for us, and this was no exception. As is typical, the meal was a good value and the ability to try a variety of dishes, even in a party of two, is a big plus. Unfortunately, what should be the highlights of the meal, the meat dishes, were distinctly dry and overcooked. Every thing else was quite good."

"Food is nice, there is tha quality and quantity for a good dining. However, the service was not very friendly, people seem not happy with their job. I also think that making us pay for a supplement of bread is really greedy. Finally, the bad point is that the restaurant refuses more than 2 credit cards. That's unacceptable, and for a group of 5 that creates a complicated and uncomfortable situation."

"The food was excellent. It has more subtle flavor than other Ethiopian restaurants we have tried. Our server was very sweet and Rob is a terrific host. He makes everyone feel at home. The restaurant will be even better when the construction is done. We'll be back."

"We love Ethiopian food and the Ethiopian Diamond has the best in the city! It's a big, busy place, but you can hear yourself speak. Eating with your fingers is fun and we love the famed injera bread and all the vegetarian options. Make reservations, there can be a wait. The servers are pleasant, but service can be a bit slow, so allow time for a leisurely meal if you have something planned later in the evening."

"The food and service was good as usual, however they just implemented a $10 corkage fee per bottle. This greatly reduces its appeal as a BYOB restaurant."

"Excellent service and wonderful food. Great for anyone wanting to try a unique dining experience. The waitstaff can help you order if you are unfamiliar with the cuisine. Make sure you order the Ethiopian coffee after dinner!"

"I liked this place a lot! I had only been to one other Ethiopian place in the city, Demera, and this one was just as delicious, the food was pretty much exactly the same as what I order at Demera. The atmosphere is very nice, and the manager came over to the table to ask if we had enjoyed the meal. And after the meal, a waitress brought over those damp cleaning napkins to wipe the food off our hands, so my hand didn't smell like curry for the next week. Great service, and delicious food, I will be back soon!"

"Great neighborhood restaurant. Big, but friendly and a cozy feel. Owner is hands on and very personable, visiting tables and greeting her guests. Menu is robust. Even if you are not familiar with Ethiopian food, you will find something you'll find delicious and to your liking on the menu. Especially enjoyed the Diamond Chicken Salad. Really enjoyed the live entertainment too. It added a very nice extra touch of class to restaurant and to our dining experience. Pianist-singer, Steven Solomon, was terrific. He played a ton of variety, from oldies to contemporary to classical. Will look forward to dinning there again and hopefully on a night when Steven the piano player is there."
