"Have yet to have a bad experience at Josie. The food is always flavorful and consistent. The Tangines are always enjoyable and the meats are prepared at the correct temperature. The signature to me is always the paring of the side dishes which is always creative and unexpected.

"This was the WORST service we had had in a long time. Maybe why it was half full. We were left for 5 mins without water, etc while 4 staff stood at the kitchen bench chatting with their backs to the restaurant. This was a common throughout the meal. Staff were either absent or talking at the kitchen bench. The service we got was perfunctory. Each staff seemed to have a specific task and would only do it.
The restaurant was nicely presented although shabby in places, Staff were well presented in tie and apron, except for the receptionist who had just come in from a day at the beach.

"Been coming here on and off for years. Room is lovely and mellow. Food is still consistently good. Fresh, quality produce and proteins. They still start you off with a complimentary sliver of quiche which is still amazing and yummy. We've been all over the menu and everything is good. Only negative I can say is for someone who has been here several times it can get boring as their menus haven't really changed. It would be nice to have them update their menus with the preparations."

"Food was good, as usual, but the dinner selections seemed limited. Over-emphasis on seafood, and one of the diners doesn't like seafood. Only choices for "meat eaters" was a boring chicken dish, a steak, and wild boar. So, not being an exotic meat lover, she went with the steak (which one can get anywhere). The boar was very good, but not much meat on the plate. The appetizers (potato leek soup and cuddlefish) were excelletn, as was the pots de creme dessert. Nice syrah was recommended to accompany the meal. Overall, an enjoyable evening but not up to the usual standards. The servers were gracious, but we rarely saw the waiter and his attitude was quite "superior" and stodgy. Excellent somelier, as always!"

"We really love Josie. It's always good. Brought my mother and aunt here to celebrate a birthday--three of four of us had the campfire trout, which was delicious and well presented. No appetizers or dessert for us that night. It's fairly nearby us, and we'll be back."

"Loved the food, even better now that they have returned to the original menu. The bone marrow was excellent, if somewhat small portion size compared to others serving the dish. Main courses could not have been better, especially the pasta with sweetbreads as component to pasta topping. Service was perfect- the kind of service you would find in a top-level restaurant in Paris."

"Excellent food at this well run restaurant. Our dinner was great with a fine salad with blood oranges and a potato fennel soup. Entrees were lamb chops and Scottish Salmon with a Meyer lemon sauce and fresh root vegetables. We shared a very tasty chocolate bread pudding for dessert. Fine service complimented the excellent food. The only drawback is that it is expensive so you can't come here too often."

"This was our second time at Josie's Restaurant and the experience was even better then first time. We had a chance to taste Josie's opening menu, and the food was excellent. Loup De Mer was delicate but flavorful main curse, which the head waiter helped me pair with exceptional wine. The dessert chocolate Pot De Creme was absolutely delicious. The respectful, not rushing atmosphere of the restaurant just make the evening more enjoyable."

"Totally enjoyed our second meal here (and the first, just haven't reviewed it before). Both times, there was a duck special. Both times, it was outstanding. The menu, I believe, is seasonal. Recently, to celebrate her 12th year, she brought back her original menu--it was great. Our waiter made fantastic recommendations, and the service is friendly, prompt but unobtrusive. Go and enjoy."

"Josie visited us at our table and we had some amazing food. The service however, was non-existent. They ignored us. we had to pour our own wine on multiple occasions and get up to find somebody to take our order, among other issues... sad because I really liked that place. going to have to think twice about going back..."

"Josie is one of those restaurants (there are very few) that is worth the expense. It has been on our list of favorites since it opened. Generally, it is Number One. Once or twice a year we will splurge and go there. The food is always perfect. (That complementary slice of quiche at the beginning is far and away the best you will ever taste.) The waitstaff is relaxed and friendly. The atmosphere is warm, inviting you to stay and you can talk without shouting. To sum it up: Perfection."

"We enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The wait staff was friendly and professional. The wine choices were diverse. I had wine paired with each course and enjoyed them all. I recommend the goose ragu and the braised short rib dishes."

"Josie's is one of the few restaurants on the Westside of LA with sound absorbing carpeted floors and table linens. One can have a pleasant dinner conversation with no shouting, or screaming neighbors. The food is elegantly presented and carefully prepared. But, I had the special entree, which was advertised as monkfish, but seemed to be something else. The food is good, but not fabulous, leaving the impression that you are paying more for the wonderful atmosphere, rather than the meal."

"Disappointed with the food and service. We heard wonderful things about Josie and decided to try it during DineLA. The entrees were a let down and the desserts hot on the outside, cold on the inside. Our waiter was terrible, no personality. It was as if he couldn't be bothered. The one bright was the busboys. They were terrific and very attentive.
I'm sorry that Josie was a let down. We were hoping we had found a great restaurant that we could return to."

"Food was delightful but waiter was Mr. Negative and a total buzz kill. His lack of interest in his job was obvious and he diminished the overall experience. Josie's always has surprisingly delicious and thoughtful food but we don't go very often because the experience with the waitstaff always leaves us a bit cold."

"Have been coming to Josie's for years. We absolutely love it every time we come. The fried rapini is amazing. I seem to always stick with my favorite dish the morrocan short ribs, so amazing!! My husband gets the steak and always loves it. Great wine, great servers, will always come back."

"Waiter was impersonal, and the food was not as good as we had experienced other times. No veal, no pork, and my salmon was under cooked and had to be sent back. Our friend's short ribs were not at all tasty. No reason to return for awhile. Sorry... it had been one of our favorites."
