"After making reservations I had to call twice to change them that night (change in party size and couldn't make it on time due to my cat died). Both times the host was incredibly nice and worked to fit us in no matter what (even though they were booked). The food was absolutely amazing, they gave my fiancee a free drink for his recent graduation and the server was so helpful about recommendations and was just all around a great server. It was a bit loud but that's to be expected from a packed house. I cannot wait to go back."

"The dinning experience was exceptional and the food was decadent... It made my boyfriend's birthday celebration quite memorial. We will be back for sure to try your steak skirt and the Hawaiian Mahi Mahi again! Awesome service overall, from the time we entered to when we departed."

"First time at The Butcher and the Boar. Can' t wait to go back. It was so much fun and the food..fantastic!!! We may eat red meat perhaps once a month. Oh my gosh...the sausage so good, the ribs amazing...sides same. This the place to go! The portions are generous, I would suggest sharing a main course and sampling the apps. Trust me, you won't be disappointed...and not to be overlooked...The Staff rocks!!!"

"Our meals were well prepared, nicely presented and most importantly tasted great. Although meat was the predominant menu entree, there were plenty of other great choices, so don't view this restaurant as only a steak place. The portion sizes were generous and you best be hungry if you order the pork chop, it is enormous. Our waitress was attentive and the pace of our meal was relaxed.
The restaurant was crowded and quite noisy. The tables are very close and the groups at the tables next to us were so loud my wife and I had a hard time talking to each other. If our visit was representative of an average evening, I would not view this as a place for a quiet romantic dinner but a good place for a meal with a group of friends."

"The food was ok, the service was good. After hearing all of the hype we waited weeks for our party of 6. Aside from the porkchop most items were very small. We were under the impression it was family style, a la carte. I'm sure individuals in out group will go back, but not anytime soon.
Remember, we went as a family. Maybe friends would enjoy the scene more from the beer tent."

"Four of us sat in a booth in bar area. A little too loud, but not sure it would have been any better in dining room area? Food was outstanding! Service started out slow but was adequate as we were not in any rush - and didn't feel pushed to finish to open up the table. We would absolutely go back."

"Went to the B&B for the first time after waiting forever to find a babysitter so we could visit this much talked about/hyped up place. Huge disappointment for us. Had the cheese plate-worthless. One tasted like cheese whiz, they even tell you this up front, the "cheeze whiz gouda". Beautiful presentation of the plate, but this place doesn't know cheese. Fair enough, they are a meat place. So we figured we better try a meat. But the rooster terrine was pretty sad too. Flavorless. Looked like pale Spam and tasted worse. Huge pork chop for our entree was the best thing we had. $125 fill for the 2 of us. Extremely loud, had to yell at each other all night long. This place is a trendy Manny's, and that's not a compliment. Won't go back."

"One of my top two meals ever.... and I travel extensively and eat out at great resturarants often. Erery thing was in place.... from the sauces, musturds, pickles, relishes, to the unbelivable meats..... lamb was perfect and the charcuterie was world class. To the great cocktails....fab service and tasty desert. I also have a new found respect for brussel sprouts!!!
Well Done."

"My boyfriend and I went to Butcher and the Boar for his 30th birthday dinner. I was excited to treat him to a place we've been excited about for a while and made reservations well ahead of time. The dinner time of 8 and our party of two left us at a crowded table near the entry at first, but the host did move us to a less intense section after we seemed less than pleased with the first choice. The second table, still, lacked any kind of intimacy, which is why I wouldn't rate the place as "romantic." I have celiacs and our server was quick to help clarify menu items. She was wonderful in pointing out options and making suggestions. The timing of the food was perfect. And the food was simply perfect. The wine list was overpriced."

"I'm just not fond of restaurants where one has to shout to the people at one's own table. And the butcher-block table may be cute, but the giant table legs for EVERYONE's knees weren't so fun. But the food really did live up to its reputation, and the staff did a good job of keeping glasses full, etc. I'd definitely like to go back just for the desserts!"

"I had heard the hype and my husband really wanted to go. There are times with so much hoopla that it does not live up to the hype. Butcher and Boar does!! It wad delicious. We had scallops, rib and sampler plate along with mushrooms and fried green tomatoes, per our servers recommendations. It was fabulous. I am not a fried grn tomato fan, but those were amazing. Husband loved his rib and the scallops were cooked perfectly! Husband already knows he wants the steak the next time we go. Wonderful! The noise level was a little high, but we could still chat and seemed normal for the excitement and enjoyable experience of eating here."

"We have been meaning to try Butcher & the Boar but finally got a chance when an out of town friend was here and we were looking for a carnivore experience. Everything we ordered was very good and wait staff were excellent at explaining any questions on the menu we had. My pork chop was outstanding, perfectly cooked, tender, and juice; though massive so when they recommend sharing a few of the main dishes, listen."

"Food was very good and interesting. I wish that there were a few more of the special items to be not so hot. My mouth and lips were numb until the next day. I love kick to food but felt that I couldn't get way from it. There should be more of a balance on you specialties. Even the salad was hot!! But good. Maybe a note on the menu what is hotter than others."

"This was my fourth visit, and each time I come here I am delighted by the service and high quality of the food. I seem to have gotten into a bit of a rut though, as I simply adore the petite wedges salad, the pork and cheddar sausage, and the Hennepin Manhattan. New for me this time was the Chocolate Diablo Bread Pudding, which is a new favorite for me. The only thing that could possible make it better would be to incorporate peanut butter somehow (ok, I have a thing for chocolate and peanut butter).
We arrived early - 5:30 - and by the time we left, the place was rocking. Every table full, and everyone having a good time. I'm not sure why they all feel the need to shout at each other though. Makes for a noisy dining room. ;-)"

"Finally got a reservation at the butcher and the Boar and was anticipating a great meal. After the server suggested the ribs, my husband ordered them . Along with that I had a steak. we also had the brussel sprouts and cornbread and grits. The ribs were solid fat, the cornbread burnt, but the sprouts and steak were good. The server would have known this if she had checked on us after the food arrived. Would maybe go back for drinks, but no the food."

"Marvelous meal - the charcuterie plate was amazing...the liverwurst melted in your mouth and the sausages each held its own special flavor. The lamb & ribs were so flavorful, tender and perfectly cooked. Our server was very knowledgable on the menu & the bourbons. The only wrinkle in a perfect meal was slow beverage service...it was hard to catch the server to get another drink, it then took quite a while to come and the coffee came after dessert was finished."

"This was our 2nd time at Butcher & the Boar. A lot better experience than the first time. We were seated in the bar area where the tables are not SO CLOSE together. We tried the sampler platter "from the Butcher" again, which is ok. This time we tried their entrees instead of getting just the sausages. We really enjoyed our dinner of Prime Skirt (with Mash) and Leg of Lamb (with coal fired sweet potato). Very good food, good side car and martini, good beer.
Though we weren't greatly impressed, we enjoyed ourselves much more this time and will go back."

"Sizes were strange, some items were described as "appetizer-sized" but to me, they were entree sized. Sides were larger than expected. Some items were unnecessarily spicy. Like the gem salad, which is a green salad, but so spicy it ruins your taste buds for the rest of the meal. And I like spice. And pairing pork chop with pineapples just seems too sweet and ... easy. The pork and shrimp sausage was very good, but was paired with a cole slaw that again, unexpectedly and unnecessarily spicy. Seats are too close to other patrons, and the noise level is high. But the sides were very good, and everything was done well, cooked just right, presented just right, but... I guess it's just not my flavor palate."

"The food was excellent and a new experience for some people. Service was outstanding. Only complaint, the tables are too close together, hinders conversation, the wait staff had their rear on our table when serving the table next to us. Other wise everything was great and we will retun to try other menu items since as items passed our table we would ask what that was and wondered if we had made the right choice. (We did and we were not sorry). The Tap Beer selection had deminished somewhat and my intial selections were not available but was still able to select a tap beer that was very satisfying."

"We had a party of six and it was so loud in the restaurant we had to shout just to talk to people on the other end. We all tried each others food and in my opinion, the pork chop was outstanding. I ordered the ribs which were very tender, but I didn't care for the spicy molasses sauce on it. Skip the mashed potatoes, but definitely order the loaded beans, corn bread and fried green tomatoes. Wine and bourbon list was awesome. Best old fashion I've ever ordered."

"Great food and service. Table is small and not enough room for the amount of food that was ordered. Noisy atmosphere and tables are right next to each other. Sweet potatoes, cedar planked mushrooms, and cornbread are great accompaniments with the pork chops and sausages. Try the stuffed jalapeno and charbroiled oysters. They're delicious."

"Should have listened to other reviewers and ordered long rib..steak was mediocre. We had six people in our group...while five of us got our food at the same time, one person had to wait literally until the rest of us were done eating...no apology from waitress at all. We thought for sure the item would be comped....nope.
Ambiance was fanstastic..nice patio outside."

"I had seen good reviews and decided to take my husband, a foodie, for his birthday. He loved it! One of the first things he said was that he wanted to come back. We got the sausage sampler with sides of sweet potato, spicy brussels sprouts and the pickle plate appetizer. The mole sauce was outstanding! My favorite sausage was the wild boar. I also really liked the cole slaw that came on the side and I normally don't like cole slaw. The wait staff was great and paid attention to the fact that I had put a note on my reservation regarding the fact that it was my husband's birthday. Great menu, great selection for beverages, overall an awesome experience."

"If you love smokehouse" food - so so good! Amazing flavor combinations from the salads, to the meats and the sides!
But not hurrying back! Surprisingly lack of great service given the price tag and competition out there, parking a mess & slow. Will wait until B&B get they are not the only option in town and should deliver a great experience all around from the minute you walk in the door to when you leave - food, service, atmosphere . . vs only goal of turning tables."

"This was our second visit to The Butcher and The Boar. We eat out frequently and enjoyed our first visit, even though we were seated in the noisy bar section (had a reservation). We had made this reservation several days in advance, arrived 15 minutes early and were seated in the bar next to the door coming into the bar area (not in the restaurant again). Unbelievably loud. We did not get any service for the first 10 min we were seated. Service from that point on did not improve at all. The food was OK, not great, not bad. We had the beef rib, was tough and dry but seasoned well. We had the flat iron steak last time and it was wonderful. Started with pork cheddar sausage, was great. Need a lot of work on seating and service!!"
