Around the corner from the Fine Arts Theater in downtown Asheville, Limones Restaurant provides an inspirational mix of Mexican and Californian cuisine along with inventive bar selections served by a warm, professional staff. Long before working and training under some of San Francisco’s most talented chefs, Hugo Ramirez was raised on the intense and varied flavors native to his hometown of Mexico City. In fact, he still calls on his mother for the secrets of traditional Mexican dishes, which he reinvents in innovative and surprising ways. At Limones, Hugo’s love of Mexican food is combined with his training in french-influenced California cuisine.

"This amazing little restaurant prepares incredibly delicious Mexican-coastal dishes with an eclectic flair. We began with Lobster Nachos, and we had short rib and wild mushroom enchiladas, and delicious scallops with artichoke puree. The flourless chocolate torte for dessert was perfect. Make a reservation! We saw many people turned away because it's small, but it's one of the best in the area. Don't miss it!"

"We visited Limones for the first time last year on the last night of our vacation in Asheville. We really enjoyed our meal and thought it was a great way to end our vacation on a high note. We returned to Asheville this summer and made sure that we would visit Limones again. There are many great resteraunts in Asheville but I encourage your to give Limones a try."

"Arrived earlier than 11 am reservation but were promptly seated. Very comfortable, even casual ambience. Drinks and appetizers were outstanding. Cod ceviche was magnificent. Apricot pina colada and raspberry margarita were served frozen and had a uniquely smooth texture. Entrees, including the crabcakes, were simply elegant. One of the better food experiences I've enjoyed in Asheville. Service was professional and nothing was left to chance, without being intrusive. Cinnamon apple scones with lemon curd topped off the experience. Highly recommend!"

"We love Limones. We don't live in NC but when we do visist Asheville, this is a definite stop for a wonderful dinner--we are never disappointed. They do change their menus periodically so what you liked last time may not be on the list the next time but that's not a bad thing, makes you try new items. I have to say that the noise level make it hard to talk to others if they aren't sitting right next to you. The high ceiling and hard floors creates this noise level, but we will continue to come back and enjoy Limones in the future."

"Not you typical Mexican fare. The restaurant is self categorized as Californian and Mexican cuisine, which is very accurate in that the food was contemporary with Mexican roots. The food was excellent, everyone at the table loved what they got. The prices were fair and the portions more than adequate. The restaurant was smaller and proved an intimate setting. If in Asheville again, I will definitely be back."

"My cousin lived in Asheville and told us to be sure to go to this restaurant. I loved the reservation process, the atmosphere, the service, and, of course, the amazing food. It was by far the best food I've had in years. It was unique and mouth watering. We ate until it hurt! Delicious."

"My wife and I eat here 3-4 times a year when visiting Asheville. Limones consistently serves us some of the best food we eat here or anywhere. The chef is truly an artist. This visit I had the potato horseradish encrusted halibut--it was excellent. My wife went for the beef short ribs, again, returning to one of her favorites. Our daughter tried the more traditional mexican dish of fajitas and it did not disappoint--not the everyday fajitas you will find at Chile's or another chain restaurant they were fajitas with a homemade touch. We can't say enough about this fine restaurant."

"It was our 7th wedding anniversary - the experience from the reservation to the food was absolutely perfect! I had an amazing drink - carrot juice, lime juice, habanaro, and tequila - divine!! "I'm a local, and just found out about this gem 2 mos. ago. Good thing for me & them because I tell everyone about it! The food is amazing, the margaritas...awesome & the wait staff some of the best I've encountered. The lobster nachos are a must and the margarita caliente is delicious. "Everything we had, from the house made salsas and chips to the swordfish tacos and shrimp quesadilla were excellent. Don't let these simple "Tex Mex" sounding menu items fool you, all of the ingredients were fresh and delicious and didn't weigh you down and feel heavy like some Mexican food can.
Far and away Limones has the best Margaritas I've had outside of Texas. The traditional was spot on but if you like spicy drinks to go with your spicy food then go for the Caliente, and if you're a pina colada fan then go for the coconut margarita which was surprisingly refreshing.
Our waiter was funny, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the food and drink, and we ended up perfectly sated with room for a little spiced chocolate with the bill."

"I'll preface this with the fact that I love spicy food. The chili releno was very nice, The Grilled fish taco was also well prepared. I especially liked the bread pudding with caramel sauce. If you want lightly flavored or bland preparations, this is not the restaurant for you. I loved the flavors however."

"Creative food that works, well prepared and well presented. Four of us had four different appetizers and 3different mains and all were delicious. We only had room to share one dessert, the tres leches cake, which was the best I've had anywhere. Good wine, too."

"Interesting brunch menu with food to match. The Mexican-Euro fusion creates wonderful flavors and aromas. Brunch seems less crowded than dinner at this desirable restaurant. Servers are friendly and helpful but not as attentive (eg. filling water glasses) as in the evening. We return regularly at noon (weekends only) and evenings."

"I have favorite restaurants in Santa Fe, Charleston, and now Asheville. Limones is a must! We experienced all menu courses and were impressed with everything we tasted. The service was excellent as well. I'm telling all my friends to add it to their bucket list."

"We had the best time at limones. The meal was very enjoyable that we were all happy the entire time we were there. One of the best brunches I have had. Peach margarita was Delish along with everything else we had. I had the crab cakes which I highly recommend . Overall great experience will be siding there again in the near future."

"This is our 4th or 5th time to dine at Limones - covering a span of 8 years. Never been disappointed. Since we are from Texas we enjoy a little zing with our food but it is not over done here. Just right. Must have a Blood Red Margarita before you even glance at the menu. Can't imagine a trip to Ashville without visiting Limones.

"We have eaten at Limones on several occasions. The waiters are friendly and provide excellent service. The appetizers are awesome. Most recently we tried the brussels and crabcakes. What an awesome combination of flavors. As for the the main dish, try the fish tacos or scallops."

"I have to admit, I was expecting more mexican type food on the menue and was really looking forward to having some tacos that night. But, there were no tacos, at least not any that I would eat. The menu selection is rather small but everything I put in my mouth was delicious! I tried a green chile relleno pepper for the first time and it was FANTASTIC! The portions are large, which I didn't expect for a restaurant this nice. So my husband and I got two appetizers and then split an entree. It was just enough food for the both of us. The service was exceptional and really made our experience that much better! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Asheville, BUT make sure you make a reservation:-)"
