"This was the first time I had eaten here and it was exactly what I wanted out of dinner. My date and I loved the food and the service was great. I would love to go back as a date stop or just a nice night out with friends. I was very impressed and will be eating there again in the future."

"I made a reservation and when we arrived, out table was ready and waiting for us. There were 7 in our party on Mother's Day. We were taken care of within minutes. Our waitress was very attendant. The food was delicious. The whole experience was very pleasant. I hope to come back another time."

"Relatives were in town and they wanted to treat us to a nice dinner, so I suggested Vigilucci's. To my dismay, it was an utter disappointment. The red snapper (was it really snapper?) was a tasteless plate of mush—and this was one of the evening's "specials"! My chicken breast was so tough that I couldn't cut it with my knife. My pasta side dish was so al dente that I couldn't twirl it on a fork. It simply lay straight and slid off. It turned into one of those awkward evenings when everyone pretends to enjoy their meal so as not to embarrass the idiot who chose the restaurant (me!). No one came close to finishing their meal. The service was decent, the restaurant is charming, but the food was just the worst. Never again, Vigilucci's."

"I have no problem with the food it was excellent. Only thing I did not like was the service. The hostess seemed to not car we had 7 pm reservations. And than when we finally got seated. Our waiter seemed to not care or very aware with what we told him. He was very unresponsive. And he kept forgetting mg husbands stuff, on purpose. While listening to others."

"We somewhat stumbled onto this restaurant. We were staying at La Costa and wanted to leave the property for dinner. What a find! The service was impeccable - I think our waiter was actually Italian! The Caesar salad was a true caesar. We also had wonderful artichoke hearts. The pasta was superb. And they were so nice to our children. Even though we live in L.A., we'll figure out a way to come back, and will arrange our next San Diego trip so we can eat at one of their restaurants."

Food is very good though my guests pork chop was a bit over cooked. My Osso Bucco was outstanding. Service was a bit slow as they were extremely busy. It was very loud due to a couple of large groups but dining area is small so this is typical but tolerable normally.

"The last couple of times that we have been to this restaurant, there has been a large noisy party group in the main dining room. This would be fine if the party room was enclosed but it is not. The noise carries over to the bar room and you cannot easily hear your fellow diners - very annoying. The waiter kept apologizing saying that our food would come out soon when the entire party in the party room was finished being served. This ended up being approximately 45 minutes after we placed the order. We have been going to this restaurant for 8 years and we (and our neighbors that dined last saturday night) have decided that we will not be back."

Many of the staff are actually from Italy and have brought with them all the charm that makes dining there such a delight. Beef carpaccio is fantastic. "The service was phenominal! The food tasted amazing and the wine list was so big that it took 30 minutes just to decide on the wine. The wait staff is very authentic and the food was very good. The atmosphere can be a bit extreme as the place is small, with a bar on one side, but feels lively. If you are going for the candle light romance you may be put off by the proximity and noise but if you are looking for a nice date night with great wine, fun atmosphere, and great food, this is the place!! Also very affordable."

"While the food was very good and the service excellent, the ambiance seemed tired.It is dark and not very inviting. It was beautiful outside but windy so we couldn't sit outside,which I realize was not your fault, but the comparison was noticeable. We were there for lunch"

"I always love the food at Vigilucci's so I don't have any complaints. Great atmosphere and great selection of food. If I had anything bad to say it would be that the menu selection is so great it is hard to choose what to eat. Wine selection is very good as well. If you aren't sure, ask your server for a suggestion. That worked out great for us."

"We went there for our 4th anniversary. I asked for a quiet table which they reserved for us. I brought our own wine. Corkage was fair and unlike many places they decanted rather than just bringing glasses. The waitstaff was great. There when we needed them and not when we didn't. When I gave the host my name, he wished us a happy anniversary. As we were ordering dessert they brought us a creme brulee, gratis, which was an unexpected touch.
My favorite was the artichoke heart appetizer. Roasted perfectly with a warm Chile oil drizzle and cheese. Yum. We will go back."

"This was the second time my wife and I dined at Vigilucci's. The only reason is because it is about an hour drive from our home. Everything we experienced was top notch. Both of our entrees were as close to perfection as anyone could expect. I would recommend this restaurant for quiet romantic dinners as well as get togethers with friends. It is a little on the pricey side, but if you want to receive questionable service, mediocre food and crowds you can pay TGIF price and go there instead.
My overall experience was superb and I am sure we will go there again when we get a chance."

"Good food and good service. I would definitely go again, and would recommend it to others. Only negatives are that there is a lot of activity going on (not really a negative, but just part of the atmosphere), and no view. You can get a view and less busy atmosphere for the same price elsewhere, but the food and service here are really good."

"Excellent food, very good service. The restaurant was crowded on a Friday night, but we had a reservation and were seated immediately. There is a nice sidewalk seating area, but since we had a very cold night, we opted for indoors. Our waiter was attentive even though he had a large table to take care of at the same time. The only negative for us was that the tables are quite close and it was pretty noisy. It's definitely one of our local favorites."

"While the menu and service were terrific, the food was disappointing, especially three of the pastas. The pastas in the Pesto dish and the Bolognese were overcooked. If I hadn't been with a group, I would have sent it back. The pasta accompanying the veal parmigiana was so undercooked that it was crunchy.
The polenta and shrimp appetizer was delicious; the desserts were very nice, but nothing special.
We were seated right next to the bar and by mid-meal the noise level had risen dramatically. We had to raise our voices to talk and had trouble hearing the waiter. Having people standing right behind our chairs (it was close) was very uncomfortable. Had I been to the restaurant before, I would have requested a different table."

"We enjoyed our dinner there. Made reservations with Open Table about 2 hours before arrival and there were no problems. Spoiler alert; The Cioppino is HUGE. Could be enough for two. Service was great. Would go back again in a heartbeat."

"I would not recommend this Vigiluccis! This was a special gatherign for my Mothers 70th Birthday. I had a pre-ordered a Main Lobsster for my Mother. There was no Tail meat and after going back the resataurant to explain, was told too bad."

"We had a wonderful lunch here. Sat on the front patio and it was perfect weather and very enjoyable. Service was a bit slow, but there was a huge party in the private dining room so we understood. The food was outstanding! There were four of us and we had the carbonara, fettucine alfredo, ravioli with butternut squash and the chicken marsala. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. Would highly recommend this restaurant."
