"Dont believe any of the few negative reviews, service was promt, courteous and knowledgable, price was what I would expect, interior was beautiful, size of portions- for two people with one appetizer and two main dishes we took food home when we were done and did i mention it was possibly the best thai food I have ever had?"

"May Kitchen is a great addition to the Vashon restaurant scene - from the street it's easy to miss, but once inside, the decor and ambiance will transport you. Delicious Thai food (order the Pad Thai and have it prepared at your table), terrific service and a lively atmosphere. Perfect for a special occasion or casual drop-in meal at the bar. "The restaurant is beautiful and it feels special to be there.
It is a newly opened restaurant, and I think they are still working out things in the kitchen. Maybe sometime soon we will be asked about how spicy we want a dish - 1, 2, 3, or 4.
The appetizers are wonderful... and my favorite offerings on the menu.
The bar is quite something to see!"

"We had a delightful Mother's Day meal at Mays. This time we tried the phad makeua which was eggplant heaven. The gaeng normai gai was also delicious. We love the presentation for the Phad Thai, but the portion is small. It would be nice to be able to order it without the presentation, but a larger portion for sharing. The only disappointment is the phad ke mao. It was dry and boring with no hint of Thai basil. The atmosphere is great at May's. The warm teak surroundings are intimate and transporting to another time and place."

"My friends and my husband and I come here very often.....sometimes as a group and sometimes just two of us. Sometimes i come in alone.This past Thursday, May 9th, it was I and three other girlfriends. One of the ladies was visiting from off island, so it was her first time. She was not dissappointed! The other three of us had just been in the week before, and probably will be back again next week! Wonderful restaurant with good, good food and the GREATEST Waitstaff ever!"

"Living on an island makes our choice of restaurants very limitted and it is a delight to have an excelent one open up here. May"s Kitchen has wonderful food, reasonably price, a great ambiance and delightful service. I think one of the more pleasurable aspects of it is that when you walk in the door you have left Vashon for awhile and gone to an exotic place. It is the place to have a special evening out eating very good food and being served with skill and friendliness."

"This is our 2nd time at May's. The first time was fabulous, and the second time was as good, if not better. The food is consistantly delicious, beautifully served, the atmosphere and decor is like a tiny trip to Thailand. How could we be so lucky to have this wonderful gem of a place here on Vashon! Our server was TOPS! He was friendly, knowledgable, a complete asset to the establishment. Even the young man who kept out water glasses filled was a total delight. The friends we were with eat at May's often. This is 5 star, all the way!"

"Some of the food here is quite simply the best I have ever had - and I do eat quite a bit of ThaI food. The fried watercress dish - OMG so good! The Phad Thai is like nothing else, anywhere - except for maybe in Thailand. Every dish that I have had was well above average and delicious - with exception to the fried spring rolls, which were grease soaked & I appealing. Everything else is delicious and presented beautifully."

"By far the number one restaurant on Vashon Island. Previously one could have said that of the Hardware Store Restaurant, but now May's Kitchen takes that honor in our estimation. When we left for the evening there were about fifteen people waiting for tables but across the street at the Hardware Store Restaurant the place was half empty. Unique atmosphere, cozy, wonderful food and friendly service. Dinner for two was nearly half the cost of what we would have spent at the Hardware Store Restaurant. You can't go wrong at May's Kitchen. Just be sure to make your reservations early. Also, get good directions as there was no sign out front when we visited."

"The food is outstanding, with generous portions, the service very good, and the interior decor is both attractive and evocative. In my view May's is right at the top of Thai restaurants in the region and is well worth the trip to Vashon Island. However, the restaurant is extremely noisy so it is hard to converse, and the chairs are uncomfortable. That said, this restaurant is excellent."

"The windows were curtained, the edifice sowewhat dark and the only sign we saw was a small 6"x12" "OPEN" sign on the interior cill next to the door. "Delicious and interesting authentic Thai cuisine with a modern vibe. Opened with a bang and hasn't stopped doesn't matter if we come at 5:30 or at 8:15. Reservations recommended . We love the seats at the bar, high tops seats have strange cushions that feel like they slip. The restaurant ilooks closed from the outside - they purposely darken windows to protect the vibe and story of the experience inside but open the door and you are taken on a "trip" to an exotic and delicious place. Servers all seem happy and knowledgeable. Don't miss the fried Thai watercress & tamarind sauce, the signature pumpkin curry, try the red rice, papaya salad and spring rolls yummo! Hostess is so cute and very thorough!"

"May Kitchen + Bar is a rare treasure. All the food, the drinks ,even the tea, are made with elaborate care from real ingredients, making it beyond any Thai food you've had before. "Searching for an out-of-the-way spot led me out of Seattle & thankfully to Vashon Island & May Kitchen & Bar. We thought we goofed on the address when we walked down the street, since the exterior gives no clue there's a restaurant there. But inside, the wood panelled walls, super-friendly and attentive service and over-the-top delicious food were all there for us to savor. We started with creative cocktails from the bar and vegetable stuffed spring rolls - we couldn't get enough of the dipping sauce! Plus the flaming shrimp appetizer! Yummy! For entrees, we chose the special, which was duck and a spicy chicken dish with green beans & ginger! Awesome all the way around!"

"The green curry was particularly spectacular but the entire meal was delicious. I brought two young people who are chefs in Seattle and they were very impressed and satisfied with the whole experience. Keep up the good work. It is such fun to have a really good restraunt on Vashon. We have been hungry for one for a long time."

"We had a great experience! Our group had some food allergies and intolerances. May's staff and kitchen bent over backwards to double check what members of our group could or couldn't eat and then created amazing authentic Thai food around what we could eat. We loved the attention to detail in the restaurant down to the wall paneling shipped in from Thailand, the Thai silverware and the staff explaining in detail what we ate....listening to the description and cooking process may us feel like we were in the kitchen watching them cook our dinner. The best part was being led into the kitchen after our meal to meet May, watch her cook and see her mother prepping food for others to eat. Our dining experience was truly beautiful!"

"We were impressed by the ambiance. The owners transformed a hole in the awl kitchen/cafe into what appeared to be an authentic Thai setting. The highly figured teak paneled walls provided an intimate atmosphere along with a surprising acoustic treatment. The food was excellent, and portions were generous. It was fun to see the Phad Thai prepared table-side. Servers were both knowledgeable and friendly, attentive but not intrusive. We'll be back!"
