The Silver Dollar - Priority Seating
The Silver Dollar is a re-imagining of the honky tonks of Bakersfield, CA, circa 1950s, when Southerners transplanted by the Dust Bowl to Southern California created one of the great American musical styles. This music, much of it on original vinyl, spins around the clock at the Silver Dollar, and is served along side craft cocktails and Chef Jonathan Schwartz's made from scratch, Southern-meets-Southern-California cuisine 7 nights a week and for the city's most exciting brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. The restored 1890s firehouse that is home to the Silver Dollar features a 70 seat covered patio.

"What an OUTSTANDING surprise!!!!! Great eclectic menu and great micro-brew beer. Food was fabulous and the bar tender was a mixologist extrodinaire. Dining experience was so great we went back for Sunday brunch."

"This is a converted fire house. They can change the room temp by raising or closing the firehouse doors. The whisky list (served by the glass in generous portions) is extensive and varied. All Western Hemisphere, though so no Scotch or Irish. The tequila list is also quite long. Food is country western style with a twist. The Chicken and Waffles are a specialty of the house. The person in our group who tried them described them as very good. All the dishes were cooked with a little something to "kick it up a notch". No 3 alarm stuff, but definitely spicy. We found it interesting that we were not asked about dessert. Not a big issue here. In fact I don't remember seeing any offered on the menu."

"Having been there before, we were expecting good food at The Silver Dollar. However, since it was Oaks Night, we weren't sure if our table would be ready at the time that we had reserved it. As it turned out, our table was ready for us when we arrived. The server immediately took our drink orders. The service and food did not disappoint. The one criticism that we had was the limited "Derby" menu and the inflated prices. One of our out of town guests had looked up the menu online to get an idea of what was offered. When he was given the "Derby" menu, he noticed how limited it was, and how the prices had been increased from the online menu."

"Went to Silver Dollar after the Kentucky Oaks, and everything was as expected, which is to be commended given the crowds. Our table was ready on time, and despite the crowd our server did not rush us.
The food was "very good" as the OpenTable rating says, but the added draw here is that it's fun. You go here to have a good time, and I did."

"We had a great experience at the Silver Dollar. The weather wasn't as accomodating. When is started to rain we were quickly moved into an open area. I was quite impressed since we had a large group.
Loved the Okra --would highly recommend this. The brisket was good as well! Woudl defintely return. Would like to see the non-event/Derby Menu."

"A great little restaurant with really good food, great atmosphere and professional friendly waitstaff. However, on this visit came early for dinner and the house background music was so loud it made mormal conversation hard. They had the late night music level at 7:00 pm. this wad annoying and made the dinner with friends less than the fun time had expected and had in past."

"Music was a little loud and people were talking even louder in order to converse with their party. Our server was absolutely a gem and took excellent care. I only wish I could remember her name, to directly compliment her. There was a young man who was working as a busser, who I couldn't help but nitice how active and attentive he was to his duties. This is to commend the restaurant leadership on having a great team. We LOVE Silver Dollar."

"Silver Dollar has excellent food and, if you are a fan of whiskey, bourbon or rye, a great line up of cocktails. Did I mention that the food is excellent? Fried oysters are succulent, best ribs I have eaten ever, great salads, delicious sides. Highly recommended. The only downside, VERY LOUD!"

"I loved my first experience at The Silver Dollar! Everything was incredible - from hand-mixed cocktails and deep fried appetizers at the bar, and from a completely unique dinner to the most incredible banana pudding for dessert! The server and bartender both had a great knowledge of bourbon, and the restaurant had an extensive variety to choose from. Everyone in my party ordered a different entree, and each person was blown away with their choice - everything was delicious! I was told by a friend that I had to save room for banana pudding, and thank goodness I did. Sorry Mom, this was the best banana pudding I've ever had! Will definitely return!"

"The Silver Dollar was amazing! Their chili selection is fantastic and delicious, their macaroni and cheese is to die for, and even their green beens are amazing! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. Be sure to try the mint julep with Four Roses bourbon, it is quite tasty as well!"

"I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the silver dollar. The atmosphere is fun and casual without having to forego great food. My only complaint is that the priority seating really didn't help as we still ended up waiting 1 1/2 hrs for a table. Luckily the time seemed to pass quickly at the bar ;) if you're on a tight schedule you may want to opt for a restaraunt that takes more traditional reservations."

"The Silver Dollar is the perfect combination of food, ambiance, & service. A laid back, honky tonk attitude with a serious commitment for foodies. Empanadas are not to be missed, and the cocktails are straight out of whiskey river (Ale8-1 and bourbon? Done!). Great outdoor seating when the weather allows. The staff seems not only to love the place, but love what they are doing, and that makes a huge difference when it comes to return visits."

"My husband and I went to The Silver Dollar for the first time and were very impressed. We were seated quickly in this really cool "saloon" like restaurant. The waitress was very nice and knowledgeable and had some great recommendations from the menu which turned out to be fantastic. We loved it and will be back."

"Texas chili was great. Could have used (but didn't ask for) more cheese. Cornbread was a little sweet for my liking, would have preferred plain old saltines (again, didn't ask!!), but chili had great flavor. One of the few places I know that has chili without beans on its menu."

"This was our fourth (4) visit to Silver Dollar! And best visit yet!! Service was a little slow to start but once we got our server, she was awesome!! The RED drum, the RED drum, the RED drum! A mild white fish seved over a bed of wonderful sweet potato puree with squash vegies, truly a exceptional dish. Seriously one of the best fish dinners in Louisville!! Friends with me enjoyed the double cheese burgers, hand cut fries, as well as sweet potato fries and the pulled pork. . .they all raved!! The Rio Bravo, hand crafter speciality cocktail is so yummy. . .try it if you like vodka and strawberries!! Thank Silver Dollar!!"
