"Dinner here is great, but stay away from brunch. They did not get our order right twice. They messed up our drink order. They forgot the sides we requested. When we asked if they were off, they got rude and defensive."

"My mother and I stopped in for a quick small bite after the lunch crowd on Mother's Day and wow! What a pleasant surprise! I had their watermelon cucumber margarita and it was wonderfully refreshing, but not too sweet! It was perfect. We also had the Serrano Pepper Beneit, and the Yapingacho dish...these were all specials on the Mother's Day lunch menu, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are also offered on the regular menu as well. Every thing we had was a delightful taste explosion. What a perfect accent to the wonderful restaurants we have in the Ann Arbor area!"

"We had a wonderful time on Mother's Day! Great crowd - but not mobbed like typical buffet brunches on this day. It's too upscale and food to fussy to attract many families with children. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, in spite of busy atmosphere. I had a peach bellini, with fresh puree, which was festive and fabulous! Menu was interesting and intriguing. Our food was served promptly and was delicious. It was the perfect place for grown up brunch!! Looking forward to returning!"

"Both the little plates and the entrees were very, very good. All six members of our party were pleased with the quality of the food and the presentations. There were several comments of, "Best dinner out in a long time!" One diner likes to try vegetarian dishes to see what a chef creates, and was extremely pleased with a spaghetti squash and vegetable dish."

"I've been here twice and the food is really well done and very authentic. They have dishes from a variety of countries in Latin America and they are all spot on. The service was excellent and probably the best part is the ambiance. It's a super stylish place, yet casual... much cooler than most other restaurants you will find in MI."

"Went to this restaurant after my daughter graduated to have lunch and celebrate. Waited an hour for food, then it was ice cold when it came. Waited another 30 mins. for it to be redone and served again. The wait time was puzzling since there were not many patrons in the place. I will say this - the food wasn't bad. If they can get the issues with the kitchen under control, it will probably be o.k. Plus, the manager did take the food portion off of the bill because of the wait, which was appreciated. And, the drinks were really good. Very innovative selection of drinks. Mojitos and Margueritas were good."

"The service was slow-very slow, food not the greatest (cake was really dry, and potato cake things over cooked and not very good. Plus, they were out of empanadas! What?! I know, right! And we were one of the early dinner parties) and not a warm comfortable decor. This is definitely not what Cafe Hanana used to be, unfortunately!
The plantain appetizer dish was ah-mazing as well as the sangria!"

"Great food at a pretty decent value. The "compressed watermelon salad", however, seemed just to be a trio of watermelon wedges and a few leaves of mixed greens. Maybe I'm missing something, but, though tasty, it was certainly not worth it. The rest was fantastic, though. The cocktails were likewise quite good. I'll definitely be back."

"Outstanding cocktails. Friendly, restrained service. But the food was mediocre to poor. Burger ordered medium rare came well done and the compressed watermelon salas just didn't make sense. Deconsfructed Cuban would have been easier to eat if constructed, separating the elements did nothing for them and the lid of the cute container the pickles and lettuce came in was so heavy it tipped over when open. May be back for drinks sometime, but not for dinner."

"We made our reservations on OT, put in some special notes and the hostess went over the top to accommodate us! She was wonderful! Staff was attentive. They thought our appetizer was a bit delayed (we didn't mind) but they wrote it off our check anyway. It's was our 2nd visit and there will be many many more! Thanks so much!"

"We went to Lena for an Easter Brunch and had never eaten at this restaurant. Overall, we were very pleased with pretty much everything about the place. The atmosphere was clean and cool, slightly like a picnic, but much better. It was fairly busy and would it probably would have been too loud if we hadn't been in one of their roomy booths. The waitress was good, though a little embarrassed at still learning the new menu. The food came fairly quickly and everyone was pretty happy with their meal. Each dish came on a different type of plate, which made it interesting. Bottom line: arepas-delicious! stuffed french toast-amazing and very large! benedictos -very yummy! Nice first visit and I will be compelled to visit for lunch or dinner!"

"We had a nice dinner before, however Sunday brunch was horrible. We waited forever for our waiter. When he did arrive he was inattentive and seemed to be wandering around the restaurant a lot despite not having many other tables. The food took 1/2 hour to arrive even though we ordered salads. When asked how the salads were and we said they weren't good and they were missing ingredients the response was to bring the ingredients 10 minutes later -- no apology, no offer to try something else, no talk with the manager. Then to add insult, we waited around with credit card waiting on the table and empty glasses for another 10-15 before he noticed and came to close us out. Never again."

"We went back for a second visit after a disappointing first visit when Lena opened up. We had heard through friends that it had vastly improved. We agreed with that assessment. One complaint is that a vegetarian soup was not indicated as an appetizer/soup and we took it to be a main course. Clearly it wasn't and we needed to order something in addition. The food was good but the portions were relatively small for the pricing. I had corvina which was very well prepared and would have it again. I think it is not the place for hungry eaters unless they are prepared for several courses. Looking forward to even more improvement!"

"I think this restaurant is working on coordinating good service and seating. The food seems very good. I have eaten there twice now. The first time the service was bad. It took a long time for our server to come to our table for our order. The food arrived in moderate time. Our server never came back to see how our food was, our water glasses were empty and we had to ask for them to be refilled. The second time, we were the ONLY reservation and we had asked for a booth and although there were at least 8 booths, none were available to us. We had to wait for 15 minutes although there was no wait for other tables."

"Dinners were well prepared and artfully presented. I had the special, which was braised short ribs on a bed of polenta - also nicely done and presented. Loved the pressed watermelon salad - although it was listed as including heritage tomatoes, which seemed to be missing from my serving. My wife had the fish tacos and the beet salad, both of which she reported were some of the best she has tasted. Tried two desserts, tres leche cake and the flan, neither of which were particularly memorable.
Service from waiter Zach was top notch - attentive, friendly and efficient.
Serving sizes and prices compared favorably to other downtown Ann Arbor restaurants.
Dining room was open and modern with a friendly, lively feel"

"We were disappointed on this, our first visit to Lena. We used to enjoy Cafe Habana, the previous incarnation of this restaurant. But here, the food was not seasoned properly, the entrees were served just as we started eating our appetizers (making us wonder, how did they cook that food so quickly?), and the drinks were watery."

"Food and wait staff were excellent. More than Cuban food as the name would suggest. Tried some of the Bolivian items which were the month's specials and found them delicious. We were about 10 minutes early and were told by the young man at the podium that we were too early and that they were only seating according to reservation time. There were several empty tables. We were handed a pager and told to wait downstairs in the bar. We were not seated until 5 minutes after our scheduled reservation time. We did not mind the wait but disliked the popous attitude of the host."

"I chose to give Lena's a 3 star rating, but our experience would rate lower than that because of one incident. When we were seated, a new trainee brought the waters and completely spilled them all over my wife's clothing and coat. Just so the visualization is correct, it wasn't a little spill, it was a drenching. This took at least 5 minutes to get under control and really set a bad stage for the entire meal. I at least expected our first cocktail to be on the house, if not the dinner, but nothing. I didn't raise an issue about it to the manager who came around later in meal without a clue to what happened earlier, so as not to bash the new guy, but still thought the waiter would take the initiative. "This was our first time. Very enjoyable. The staff really know each dish and can make great recommendations. The key is to engage them and ask about the food. They are very enthusiastic. Price was reasonable, comparable to others in the downtown area. The bar downstairs has great craft cocktails, and again, very knowledgeable staff."

"Really liked the food and beverages. Our server was great. What would have made her outstanding is going over the specials rather than just leaving us to read the card. Another server at a table near ours did a great review of the menu and specials and was fabulous! Ambiance was crisp, clean and modern. Would recommend that anyone out for a romantic night reserve a booth. Nice addition to the Ann Arbor restaurant scene. Unique and fresh."

"The food was different and pretty good, but our waiter was not great. He came to the table, took only one person's appetizer order and left. Later when he came back we asked him if the starter we ordered was enough for 4 people, he said no and that he wanted to tell us before to order a second. Ok, so why did you just walk away? He only asked some people how they wanted their meat cooked, when the other options clearly had different cooking options. Most of the meat came undercooked anyways. He was always very awkward and abrupt when he came up to the table."

"The food was just nasty. We have been her many times before but this time, it was just nasty. The brunch food was just soaked in butter. There was a pool of butter left on the plate. We got an omelet and it was missing 2 things that should have been in it.
The staff was dis organized and the had a very we don't care type of attitude."

"My wife and I went for lunch and had an enjoyable meal. We ordered the Plantains appetizer and it was out of this world good. Then for our meal, I had the fish tacos...again out of this world good and my wife had the chicken salad which she said was good. Prices were very reasonable for lunch."
