"Our dinner was excellent and the summer special deal is a great value. Our only disappointment was that the waitress neglected to arrange for a candle for the birthday we were celebrating. When we pointed that out to her, she just shrugged her shoulders."

"Disappointing! Portions were small considering the prices; There is one thing that bothered our party. They have a plate sharing charge of $7 which is printed in the menu. 2 women in our party ordered a shrimp pasta dish which they split - it only took putting the pasta in 2 dishes - no vegtables, no starches,no extra silverware, no extra dishes - nothing just 2 dishes - and they still charged $7.00. It is a principal thing - Anyway, they lost 4 customers. I understand plate sharing charges when one has to served extra vegtables and starches, but nothing extra was served in this case, just another plate. I guess the thing to do is order the meal and ask for another bowl and split it ourselves!"

"Have heard great things, but the food didn't match up to expectations. All our meals were average at best. However; we will go back and give another chance. No mention of early bird special menu. Great location, one block off 5th."

"Unfortunately the food and service were both mediocre. Perhaps it was an off night, but it will be awhile before I give the restaurant a second chance."

"We were disappointed but not overly so. The nice decorative plastic flowers on the room divider were a bit off-putting. The service was quite slow. The waiter recommended everything on the menu; every item was "special"...not. The basic pasta dishes were good, but not uniquely so. The veal parmigiano was average for a neighborhood bistro. They did have a good "value" priced wine list that was notable and good. At nine on a Friday evening we were the last customers in the restaurant."

"Went to Ciao's with a party of six on a Friday evening for a birthday celebration. Five of us were very pleased with our entree selections while the sixth was just so-so about hers (Dover Sole). Not sure where some of the previous critiques were coming from relative to the veal. Mine was very tender. I had a special with veal, shrimp, and lobster tail in a cream sauce that was excellent. Service was good and at a very good pace. Wine list was varied, both with regard to selection and price. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or just a nice evening out. A word to the wise-although casual attire is acceptable, most patrons were dressed in more of a business casual style than most other establishments along 5th Av"

"My husband and I enjoyed a very nice dinner at Ciao. The dressing on the Caeser salad was outstanding - the perfect amounts of lemon, garlic and anchovies. My husband had a very tasty veal tenderloin and I had a ravioli-like pasta with a wonderful Alfredo sauce with shaved black truffles. I'm not a fan of Alfredo but the black truffles sold me and it was worth every bite. The decor could use a sprucing up but go for the food!"

"Overcooked food, expensive , very small portions, waitresses sold me up telling me the sole was frozen ($23) but the Grouper was Fresh ($36) So many good restaurants in Naples this is a mediocre one! Never go back!"

"After reading the positive write ups, we were looking forward to our evening at Ciao for our group of 6. It did not live up to expectations. It was good...but overpriced for what you get. We dine on 5th quite frequently and are used to the seasonal high prices, but one normally receives a "special" meal. The ambiance is just average. Nicely set tables with tablecloths, but nothing outstanding. If there were freh flowers on the table I do not recall. The food was also good to average. I enjoyed the grouper special as did one of the other guests. We both felt it was a bit overcooked. The server was very attentive, however she did not tell us the price of the specials. Two pasta dishes were ordered and both were enjoyed."

"Surprised at the food given the previous rave reviews. Zucchini blossoms were doughy and cold. Baby artichokes mostly tasteless. Sea bass overcooked/dry not much flavor. I've been to Italy many times and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the country. Unfortunately, the food at Ristorante Ciao is not reflective of good Italian cooking."

"This was an amazing dining experience. The food was above anything expected. The chef came out and talked to each table. It was so much fun, to enjoy the food, but to interact with the chef and the servers were most surprising and FUNNNNNNN"

"Food was excellent, as usual. It's quiet enough for group conversation.
On the negative side: We ordered decaf coffee for health reasons which was delicious. We learned later that night that it was not decaf as we experience physical symptoms caused by caffeine. We had made it very clear that we wanted decaf. It may have been a communications problem with new wait staff."
