"Jefflyfish is attractive, more in a club-like way than restaurant. The blue tones resemble a night club, though the seating looking directly into the retail clothing store, Scoop, seemed a bit strange. The food is good, however, the noise level is deafening. Add to the screaming of the patrons the jazz combo banging away, & one longs for the quiet of the street."

"We had a reservation for 9 pm. I even received a call to confirm the reservation on Saturday afternoon. We arrived at 8:45 and did not get a table until after 10 pm. I even asked them to please try to seat us as my mother was getting tired. It was a miserable night and by the time we sat to eat we lost our appetite."

"The sushi at Jelly Fish is excellent. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the ambiance especially since our reservation was for midnight. No issues with getting a table! The restaurant is on the second floor and the entry is rather small so be on the lookout. The dining experience was excellent. The evening we went there was a live band playing and the music was wonderful. Dinner and dancing in a very nice atmosphere. As the restaurant closed the valet had our car waiting at the entrance as we exited the restaurant. Very nice!
We recommend giving the restaurant a try."

"The food here is quite good! All of the rolls I picked were so delicious and the seaweed salad is must. I wish the service was a bit less aggressive though. At one point I felt like going from the bar to my table was an inconvenience to the staff because I wanted my tab to follow me. Outstanding service should start with the mindset that we don't want to interrupt a customer's experience."

"I made a reservation for 9pm and wasn't seated until 9:30pm. In my opinion, when I make a reservation for a specific time I shouldn't have to wait 30 mins to be seated. There really was no waiting area other than the bar and that was over crowded also. The food was great, but our server was way to quiet for the environment we were in."

"The ambiance inside is vibrant. Lots of electric blue light mix with royal and white decorations and backgrounds, a very modern feel. Service staff is dressed in trendy fashions of blue and are friendly, efficient, and helpful. The sushi rolls are some of the best I've ever had! Traditional and signature rolls give plenty of options. I highly recommend the lobster/mango roll, Dragon roll, and Philadelphia roll."

"I went to Jellyfish on a Saturday to meet two friends for a 9pm dinner reservation. The hostess was very personable and we waited at the bar for our 3rd guest and when she arrived the table still wasn't ready. We didn't get seated until almost an hour after our res. but we were enjoying ourselves so much we didn't notice. The manager stopped by our table and was very apologetic and gave us a complimentary shot. We had the edamame and soft shell crab to start them several of the sushi rolls: kiss of fire, pink flower, California, Philadelphia, Mexican, and fire dragon roll. The food was great, every employee we interacted with was energetic and pleasant, and the ambiance can't be beat!! You may have to wait but its worth it!"

"The food was delicious. Perfectly prepared and well presented.
What I especially liked about this place is that the service was as fantastic as the food. They were courteous and thoughtful.
I thought the food was probably under-priced for Chicago, which is always a great thing for the wallet.
My ONLY gripe is that at 6'4", the table they had me sit at in the atrium was really low. I had to sit with one leg out because my knees were pushing the table up. It was a little weird. So I could see how tall people might be uncomfortable."

"A reasonably good restaurant in River North. Moderately priced and definitely had a good Friday night vibe in the restaurant and bar area. Great spot to have dinner as a launching point for an evening out in the area.
Quality of hte waitstaff was ok but still needs to be developed to really compete with the other restaurants in the area. Not bad just not consistent yet."

"Enjoyed a very nice dinner at Jellyfish. We ordered the Kiss of Fire roll, Sweet P and Veggie - they were all delicious. Service was nice. The tables are quite small and we had trouble fitting the plate with the rolls as well as the edamame, drinks and plates on the table. They did move over another table that was not in use next to us. Would not have worked for a table of 2 that ordered more if the additional table had not been available. The ambiance was a bit weird with all the blue lighting."

"We enjoyed ourselves completely. Our waiter was very helpful with ordering. The seating was a shared table, but there was enough room so that you didn't feel as if you were eavesdropping on our table mates. The food was very tasty though not really Japanese. We sat right in front of the door which was ok but the seating by the windows looked very cool as it overlooked Rush St. I was with a girlfriend I hadn't seen in awhile & we felt pressure to hurry up & order;we also had 2 waiters which confused me a bit.Overall the food was good but wasn't outstanding. We ordered 4 rolls which was perfect for 2 ppl. The Spicy Tuna Tempura was a little disappointing because there was no rice and it was extremely small, the other 2 rolls were Black Diamond & Lobster Mango which were both pretty good and the Sweept P roll was our favorite. Overall it was a great atmosphere and I would go back to explore the menu"

"I would call this a sushi and drink place. The edamame, shiitake skewers and sushi were good. We decided to also try the garden fried rice and added chicken. It came last, which was fine because we asked them to bring everything out as it was ready. Unfortunately the whole experience was ruined when each of our first bites were fat and cartilage. For the first time ever, we sent it back because it was literally inedible and we were both lost our appetite because of the bad chicken. We ordered rice pudding and flan to try to end on a good note and the dessert was good and comped which made it even better. The service and management was great, the kitchen just has to get some white meat chicken. The atmosphere was good and view was nice."

But before we got into the restaurant, we had to wait ten minutes or longer for a valet-I had called ahead and asked about valet-they said no problem. The host had to come outside to secure a valet! They share the valet with Gibsons...
So the service was good to very good. The food was ok-the Big Chicago is so big you can't eat it-we left two pieces. The lobster mango roll was the best. The Red Velvet was good-but too sweet.

"we had a terrible experience. We went for Restaurant Week, and waited over 40 minutes for our first course, then waited another 30 minutes or more for our main course. Our meter was running out, so we had to leave before dessert. The place was not packed, and other tables, not ordering from the RW menus, were served in a timely fashion. The food, when we got it, was not good. And the RW menu was not a good deal. Would definitely recommend many other great sushi places in Chicago."

"Stick to the sushi - the BBQ chicken and pork belly were a little bland and dry, but the sushi rolls were creative and very yummy. The desserts were also very good.
Be aware that the atmosphere is almost club-like - loud DJ music with bright lighting in the bar and very low lighting in the table areas. Don't come here if you are looking for deep conversation with your friends."

"Atmosphere is fantastic. Extremely friendly team, our waiter was super friendly and helpful. The food however...so so. We had the restaurant week menu and a couple of items from the main menu. Started good with the rolls which were great. The salmon dish was strong tasting. I had the pork belly which was a massive cube of pork fat on top and meat on the bottom. Really fatty even for pork belly. The rice that accompanied it was fantastic. Individual pieces were Uni & tuna. The uni was nigiri style and again just so so as far as quality. I give restaurants two tries. We will be back to give it another chance."

"Our lunch started out well as the items on the menu sounded delicious. The lettuce wraps and pot stickers were good. The sushi was average. But the waiter was slow and the service mediocre. The bigger issue is that there were no window shades in the atrium where we were seated. By about 1:00 pm, sunlight was streaming in, blinding me and anyone else who was seated facing south. Until they install window treatments, I would avoid eating there until after dark."
