"I took my mother to Hendricks for Mothers Day Lunch. She loves BBQ. She was not disappointed. The service was outstanding. The food was very good especially the meat. If you are hungry, get "The Whole Shebang" You won't be disappointed. The ribs are very meaty. The pulled pork is perfectly smoked. The sausage has a great flavor, but not too hot. The turkey was moist. There is a good selection of homemade sauces on the table. The BBQ Baked Beans are very good; smoky with bacon and lots of flavor. The macaroni and cheese was creamy with a crispy topping. If you have one meal in St. Charles, don't miss Hendricks"

"Excellent Ribs. The Chicken & a Biscuit is a must try. Haven't had anything bad there yet. We have gone 5 or 6 times now. The menu is a bit pricey. Ask the server to explain the portions. The menu uses the term "Family Style", which implies large portions for everyone to share and that is not what you get. They just come in separate bowls. On our second time there the server went over the menu with us and explained many of the options. All in all, once you figure out the menu it is a great place to eat."

"While the brisket sandwich was good, the ribs were just fair. The half slab of ribs comes with NO sides or rolls/bread. For $12 something should have been added. The ala carte sides were quite pricey from $5-8. We will probably not be returning to Hendricks. Very disappointed since it is convenient and had positive write-ups."

"It's more than just a BBQ place. It has a southern flair with country cooking and comfort foods. We had a table of four and there were no complaints from any of us. We all were stuffed and all said we would definitely come back. Some items on the menu say they take 15 minutes to prepare, if that is true, it sure didn't seem like we waited that long. We were out for a relaxing evening and experience so were not in a hurry."

"The decor is fun and energetic with pigs hanging from the ceiling and the bar is cool with mason jar lights. Could be a fun place after hours as he cocktail selection was very unique and inventive. The service on this particular visit by our server was good, but the kitchen was way behind. It took us almost an hour to get our food. They were apologetic and in the end gave us free drink and appetizer cards to come back. The flavor of the food was great, but due to the kitchen issues was not hot. I had the brisket and it was very tender. The sides have a different twist to them...love the sweet potato dish. We will be returning. If you do go parking is in back as we did not know this and clogged traffic in front."

I appreciate the small portions but for the price I was hoping to take some home.
The sides are WAY over priced for the amount given. I actually giggled when they brought a side we were suppose to share. It was a little ramekin cup.. not kidding.
I do not mind paying for quality but when quality does not match the price then it does not matter how much or how little the food portions are.
The interior looks nice but the place is uncomfortable some how.

"We had a superb waitress (sorry, cannot remember her name). We needed a gluten free list of items and were provided with that. However, we believe the chili was NOT gluten free or possibly something else was not as it made my wife feel really bad that night. We thought the menu was large and plentiful enough. I usually do not eat meat, but had the turkey, which was outstanding. I wish you offered a veggie burger. You may want to contact Match burgers as they are made locally and THE BEST! Schnucks carries them and offers in the Des Peres Cafe area as well in the frozen area.
Your restaurant offers many great features: WELL DONE!! We WILL be back!!"

"This was our second visit, & definitely won't be our last. A BIG restaurant, but very welcoming, lively and comfortable.
I love their pulled pork sandwich (add the colesaw on top for $1), & sides are delicious, including mac & cheese, corn pudding & baked beans. I also loved their potato salad the first time (flavorful, & potatoes slightly firm - not a mushy mixture full of excess mayo like you often get elsewhere). The second time the potatoes were undercooked, but our waitress gladly brought us a different side dish (the baked beans) to replace it.
Interesting drinks (try the Wee Doggie-a cross between a mojito & whiskey sour), & good desserts. Great addition to St. Charles."

"The restaurant was hosting a Jim Beam dinner in their banquet area, so the service and kitchen were slow. We were happy that the restaurant comped our desserts, because they took so long to make and prepare them.
This restaurant is very noisy, so not the place for intimate discussions."

"Ordered a drink upon arrival. The server then returned and took our food order. Our food came out in 5 minutes and before my drink. Not a spot to go to if you want to have a drink and relax a little before you eat. It's also very noisy which made it difficult to carry on a conversation. "The food is really good. My sister and I split a 2 meat combo..turkey and brisket, both very good. A few problems though. Our server wasn't very good. She was very standoff-ish, she would disappear for long periods of time and when she would actually come to our table, she would just stand there for a while and start every sentence or question with "I'm sorry.." Strange. Also, she told us that getting this combo meal with two sides would be cheaper than getting two small plates of meat and one side, so we went with her suggestion..when we got the bill, it was $5 more than what it was supposed to be. I wish i would have said something to her, but just wanted to get out of there. Overall, great food...service, well..not so great."

"Excellent BBQ! Tried pulled pork and brisket, smoked just right! 4 different kinds of sauce at the table was fun to experiment with. Biggest complaint: PORTIONS ARE WAY TOO SMALL! This includes meat and sides. $18 for a two meat platter, the portions should be twice the size the were, if not larger. ANd the sides are served in a VERY small cup unless you order them family-style. All sides were delicious, however. Grits, collards, baked beans, slaw, sweet potato fries, and tons more.
If you want a larger serving of meat, I would recommend ordering one of the BBq sandwiches. I got a $10 pulled pork sandwich (you MUST get slaw on top and add your choice of sauce!! delicious!) and my serving of meat was twice what platter was."

"Love it that you have taken over a historic location for the restaurant. A definite plus for Old St. Charles. Have been there 5 times and have brought different family/friends/small groups and they loved it and are now regulars. I love the rustic ambience of the decor. Can't wait for the downstairs to open. "So happy we don't have to trek downtown to Pappy's anymore to get our BBQ fix. Hendricks is great. The food is wonderful (I kill for the gouda-enhanced Mac & Cheese) and portion sizes are reasonable; BBQ is great (the moistest turkey!); and the staff is always very accommodating. Great addition to the Main Street scene. And I'm really looking forward to summer because I know the outside patio and deck will be a great place to hang out."

"This was my second visit, and it was just as great as the first! I brought some guests from out of town who had requested 'Barbecue' - there were 5 of us and we shared a "Whole Shebang" along with some wonderful fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, an extra side and one pecan pie a la mode for desert and No one (including my friend's 6'5" hubby) went home hungry! Best part was the cost per person was under $25! We didn't have any alcoholic beverages, but this is one of the best values around, great food, great service, can't wait to go back!"

"A great place for a large group! We were able to stay and talk without feeling the "push" to leave our table. The food was very food and the sides were especially wonderful! They had a great selection of specialty drinks (including boozy shakes) and great prices. The decor was a great blend of steampunk and blues; great design aspects all around. We will be returning again soon."

"Saturday evening. We were a party of 5 that had reservations at 7pm. Normally we never venture out that late to eat because we know there will be an over 30 min wait. With reservations we felt more confident. We got there before 7pm and 7pm came and went, then it was 720p and then finally at 730p we got seated. They need to work on their reservation system especially for groups. It seems anymore, Restaurants do not like groups. We discussed with the manager and kindly he bought us 3 appetizers. All good. LOVE the pulled pork empanadas appetizer. Sauce too runny for my taste but flavor good. Grits and shrimp....loved the grits could do without the shrimp. Main meals good, slice of pie pricey for what you get."

"We really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, ribs, BBQ brisket and Mac & cheese. The selection of craft beers was also extensive. The ambiance left something to be desired as we were sat in the back corner by a outside door that employees frequently used to go outside to smoke. Being that it was extremely cold out, this was very unpleasant. We were also by an office door that was constantly opening and slamming shut which was pretty disruptive. All in all the food was good and it looked like they had nice tables. Just hope you don't get sat in the back corner."

"My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day with a nice dinner at a place we have never tried. It turned out to be a nice experience and one we'll be repeating soon. We had an awesome server who was quite attentive and the food, where it lacked in amount, was quite tasty and different (try the nacho's...not what you would expect). Overall, I'd give it an A."

"Hendricks BBQ is great, excellent BBQ, great sauces, definitely try the catfish. The service seems like it is run/managed by teenagers. Get an Open Table reservation, if you don't you will stand at the bar looking at an empty restaurant (frustrating). I have been twice with my wife, we go back for the amazing food and always question who is actually in charge."

"the pork turnovers had too much dough....not very flaky. The pork sandwiches were good but nothing I would talk about...the buns should be toasted or warmed. The baked beans were the best part....very delicious and the fries were very good."

"We enjoyed the food, but wish they had a fish selection for Lent. We were hoping to take our family there next Friday, but with this being Lent, Hendricks is not an option. Our waiter, Matt was great. He told us all about the restaurant and how it came to be. It is nice having another option on Main Street. The parking is a bit inconvenient."

"Excellent bbq and sides - loved the cheddar grits. The in-house made maple crunch ice cream was fabulous. Wasn't wild about the cole slaw with horseradish (or something similar), but with so many great side options, there was plenty to choose from. Nice beer selection. This is not a quiet place, but food was great. Definitely want to come back soon."
